## What is AppSail?

AppSail is a maritime community in your pocket.

Whether you sail the Baltic, cruise the Mediterranean, or cross the Great Lakes — someone nearby can probably help. A mechanic who knows your engine. A sailor with a spare part. Crew looking for a yacht. A skipper looking for hands on deck.

AppSail connects sailors and motorboaters in real time, within a nautical mile radius you choose.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Find help in port and at anchor
• Trade spare parts with nearby crews
• Offer or find yacht hitchhiking
• Build a crew for your next passage
• Reach experts: mechanics, electricians, sailmakers, shipwrights
• Chat directly with matched users

HOW IT WORKS

1. Create a profile — who you are, what you can offer, what you need
2. Pick your radius (from a few to several hundred nautical miles)
3. Post a request or browse what others have posted
4. AppSail matches you with people nearby
5. Chat, arrange, go

WHO IT IS FOR

• Skippers and yacht owners
• Motorboaters
• Crew looking for a place on board
• Mechanics, service techs, marine experts
• Anyone who lives by the water

WHY APPSAIL

In the sailing world, help has always come down to who you know and lucky timing. AppSail turns that into a tool — fast, local, available in every port.

The app works in English and Polish. Push notifications alert you to new matches. Built-in chat runs in real time. A Mapbox-powered map shows who is around you.

PRIVACY AND SAFETY

• Data encrypted in transit
• Full control over profile visibility
• Report and block options
• In-app account deletion (App Store compliant)
• Privacy Policy: appsail.eu

AppSail grows with its community. A Premium plan with extra features for active users and marine businesses is coming soon. In version 1.0, all core features are completely free.

Welcome aboard.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.8 — 2026-08-08

Your position now stays fresh. Until now it only updated while you had the map open — so if you reopened AppSail on another screen, others could see you in the wrong place. Now your location refreshes every time you return to the app, so nearby sailors always see where you actually are.
New: a gentle weekly nudge. If we haven't seen you in a while, you'll get a friendly reminder to open the app and check who's nearby — because someone close might need a hand you can offer.
Fixes: the invite screen no longer overlaps the navigation bar on Android, and the app handles weak signal more gracefully — retrying instead of giving up when your connection is poor.
Fair winds, and thank you for helping this community grow.

### 1.0.7 — 2026-08-04

Bring your crew aboard
AppSail works best when the sailors around you are on it too — the busier your water, the more likely someone answers when you need a hand. This version makes it easy to invite them.

After you close a request, or when your map is quiet with no one in range, you can now share AppSail in a tap — straight to WhatsApp, Messages, email, or anywhere else. Every sailor you bring in makes the app more useful for you next time something breaks.

Plus smaller fixes and refinements under the hood.

Sail safe.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-07-23

Your requests on the map
The map used to show only other sailors. Now your own active requests appear too, marked with a cream outline so you can tell them apart at a glance. They stay visible even when you filter their category out, and they hold their real position while you explore elsewhere with the telescope.
Works better on weak signal
Marinas, anchorages, offshore — the connection is rarely perfect. The app no longer gives up at the first failed request. Opening a listing on a poor connection keeps you on the screen with a Retry option instead of throwing you back, and Messages tells you it's a connection problem rather than claiming you have no conversations.
Coming back after a long break
Leave the app in the background for hours and the map, feed and messages load properly when you return.
Faster, fresher data
The app no longer fires the same query twice at once, so screens load quicker and show current data.
New accounts
Signing up now requires confirming your email address. Check your spam folder if the message doesn't arrive.
Sail safe.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-07-19

Under-the-hood improvements to account sign-up and sign-in, so registration stays reliable as the community grows.

Plus minor stability fixes.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-06-28

This update improves stability:

- Fixed a crash that could occur when opening a request that had already been completed or removed (for example, from an old notification). You'll now see a clear message instead of the app closing.
- Improved request editing on some Android phones — the Save and Cancel buttons are now fully visible and reachable.

Thanks for sailing with us!
