## What is AppTrailer?

Hi. I'm a developer, just like you. One purchase and the app is yours.

I've been a dev for over 30 years. And one of the many challenges is making video previews, so I built this app to make our lives easier! I'm using it every day right now, so the idea is to keep making it better and better. I build it for myself first, then I put it on the store! Hope it helps you, and if you think of any feature that would be good, send me an email, I'd be happy to hear from you!

What AppTrailer does for you:

Live video editor. Import your recording and build the cuts on the spot: drag the filmstrip, set In/Out, duration and speed per clip. The preview updates as you edit.
Robot assistant. It cleans the dead time out of your recording, signs the video at the end, and swaps the source without losing your work. It proposes, you confirm.
Text with impact. One phrase per cut, with font, color, background band and 7 entrance animations.
Spotlight. A smooth zoom that highlights the right spot on screen.
Music & SFX. Background music (OpenGameArt CC0) and sound effects per cut (Kenney, Mixkit). Or import your own.
Screenshot editor. Pick the best frame of each screen, finish it with text, stickers and a device frame, and generate a set per language, translated right on the device.
The right format, always. Everything comes out in the exact size and format App Store Connect accepts, on iPhone and iPad. No rework.
FAQ
What is AppTrailer?
It's the app that turns your app's screen recording into the preview video (App Preview) and the screenshots the App Store asks for, all done right on your iPhone or iPad.

Why do I need this?
Apple requires the App Preview and screenshots in very specific sizes and formats. Putting that together in a regular editor is slow and almost always comes out off spec, so your upload gets rejected. AppTrailer delivers everything in the exact format App Store Connect accepts.

How does it work?
You record your app's screen and import it into AppTrailer. Build the cuts on the filmstrip, adjust duration and speed, write your phrases and add music. If you want, the robot cleans the dead time and signs the video. Then you just export.

Who is it for?
For anyone who ships apps and wants a professional-looking trailer and screenshots, with no computer, no expensive software, and no video editing experience needed.

Why AppTrailer?
Because it handles the boring part: the format, the framing and the finish. You focus on showing your app at its best, and the rest comes out ready to submit.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.5 — 2026-08-19

This one is about the look.

Three effects to draw over your video, and they stack:

Take On Me: the contour redrawn frame by frame, straight from the a-ha video. New Scribbles slider included.
Draw Effect: the whole shot synthesized in pencil, stroke by stroke on paper. Runs on the GPU, so exports that took 7 minutes now draw in under 30 seconds.
Neon: only the outline, glowing like a sign, with a Treatment that takes the whole scene into neon colors. Plus paper textures and blend modes behind each cut.
Reveal: a line slides across the cut showing the before on one side and the after on the other. The screenshot editor got its own Reveal too, with a draggable line and another image behind your art.

Also new:

Freeze at end: the cut plays and the last frame holds as long as you choose.
Music Delay: the video opens in silence and the track comes in later, with the fade in.
On iPad and Mac, FX, Adjust, Reveal and Music are movable windows now: drag the handle and park them anywhere.
Screenshots: official Apple bezels (iPad Pro 13 inch with the Pencil), a dashed outline showing what you tapped, and a menu on each thumb with Change image from the camera roll or Files.
The robot's Loop toggle is reversible: turn it off and the video goes back to how it was. Exact duration adjusts finer, scaling speeds or trims proportionally across all cuts.
Fixes: text outline spikes on sharp corners, shadow with the band on, music fade out in the exported video, and a crash deleting a cut from its own settings.
Maximum effort!

### 1.4 — 2026-08-06

This is a "dogfooding" app, so don't worry—I'm using it constantly and keeping an eye out for bugs!

The game changer: your trailer can TALK now.

Give your app a voice. Hold REC and narrate right over the preview in your own voice, or let an AI voice read your script for you. All on device, no internet, in many languages.

Best part: the captions chase the voice, word by word. No more subtitles hanging in silence. Need it to fit in 30 seconds? Drag the block or type a duration and the AI speeds up or slows down to land it, no chipmunk voice.

And now your framing moves too.

Turn Animate on and pinch or drag the preview. Every framing you set becomes a purple diamond on the filmstrip, and the cut travels between them: a slow push in, a pan across the screen, a snap onto the detail that matters. Tap a diamond to cycle its curve, drag it to retime, copy a move from one cut and paste it into another.

Also new:

Trim: park the playhead, split a cut in two. Your phrase, Spotlight, SFX and keyframes all follow to the side they belong to.
The playhead snaps onto keyframes, and a new button drops one exactly where it sits.
Story bar: no voice-over? Drag the block to say where your text runs and how fast it goes.
Free movement: zoom up to 8x and pan all the way to the edges.
Voice blocks: drag a box over many and move them as one.
Music that breathes: no more pumping between phrases.
Loop the preview: hit play and let it run while you tweak.
Instant import: a 3-minute video lands in seconds.
Smarter music fit: it picks the right beats and cuts clean.
Reset button to start your narration fresh in one tap.
Your export comes out named after the project.

Record. Narrate. Move it. Ship.

Maximum effort!

### 1.2 — 2026-07-16

What's New in 1.2

Turn a green screen recording into game-ready art. The robot now removes
the green background and leaves clean, transparent frames. Smart despill
means no green fringe on hair or edges. Then export every cut as a PNG
sequence with alpha, at the video's native size, zipped and organized by
cut so you can drop a whole animation set straight into your project.

New "From video" project. No size to pick anymore: it opens at your clip's
exact dimensions. Just import or paste the video and start. The first clip
sets the canvas, and you can bring in several animations and export them all
at once.

Also in this update:

- Name your cuts. Long press a cut to rename it, and the name becomes its
  folder in the frame export.
- Batch import. Add several videos and images in one go, in the order you
  picked them.
- Up to 25 cuts per project, up from 10.
- Undo and redo with two and three finger taps, Procreate style, in both
  the video and screenshot editors.
- The robot lands your video on exactly 15s or 30s when you need a precise
  App Preview.
- Cleaner exports. Duration is now exact (no more 30s clips coming out at
31s), the audio stays in sync through every transition and fades out at
the end, and your impact text and story captions follow the transitions
  frame for frame.

Made by a solo developer. Thanks for using AppTrailer.

### 1.1 — 2026-07-08

This update turns AppTrailer into a real editor: faster, hands-on, and with a robot that handles the boring part for you.

A real live editor. Open a project and you land straight in the editor. Build your cuts by hand, add, duplicate and reorder them, and watch the preview play back with audio and music, no render needed.

Speed per clip that makes sense. Speeding a clip up now pulls in more of your recording instead of shortening it, and the app warns you when there is not enough footage. Fit more into the same on-screen time.

Meet the robot. Tap it and it takes care of the tedious work: it cleans the dead time out of your recording, signs your video at the end, and swaps the source without losing your cuts, text and effects. It proposes, you confirm.

Spotlight. Highlight a button or a detail with a smooth zoom that eases in and out on its own.

CC0 music library. A full OpenGameArt catalog right inside the app, with search, preview and download, plus your own music folder. Royalty-free soundtracks, one tap away.

Faster everywhere. Cached thumbnails, a filmstrip that no longer flickers while you tune your clips, and instant project opening.
