## What is Aprox?

Aprox runs your Proxmox VE cluster from your pocket, your iPad and — properly, natively — your Mac.

On the Mac it is a real Mac app, built for macOS from the start: a menu bar extra that shows what is running without opening a window, real keyboard shortcuts, and consoles that open as proper resizable windows. The iPhone build is built for the other half of the job: the alert at dinner, the snapshot before the risky upgrade, the container that needs restarting from the train.

OPERATE
• Start, shut down, reboot, pause, hibernate, reset and stop VMs and containers
• Snapshots — take, roll back, delete, with the RAM state if you want it
• Back up now to any storage, and see every scheduled job and when it next runs
• Clone a guest, full or linked, and migrate one to another node
• Cluster and per-node task lists, with full logs and the ability to stop a running task

SEE
• A cluster-wide dashboard: capacity actually in use, what has been promised to guests, and whether that is a plan or a problem
• CPU, memory, disk and network history for every node, guest and storage
• Guest agent details — IP addresses, hostname, the OS that is actually running
• Node maintenance: pending updates, failed services, disk and SMART health

BUILD
• Create VMs and LXC containers with guided wizards
• Edit the hardware of both — disks, network, CPU, memory, devices — with every pending change listed before you apply it
• Browse an appliance template catalog and download straight to a node
• Storage browsing, upload, download-from-URL, and restore from any backup
• Firewall rules at cluster, node and guest level

CONNECT
• A built-in VNC console with a real keyboard, plus SPICE and serial
• Password, API token, two-factor and custom realm sign-in
• Certificate pinning for self-signed clusters, which is most homelabs
• Nothing leaves your device: Aprox talks to your cluster and to nobody else. No account, no telemetry, no relay server.

LIVE ON YOUR DEVICES
• Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, and Control Center controls that start a guest without opening the app
• Live Activities that follow a migration or a backup to the Lock Screen
• Siri and Shortcuts for every power action
• Handoff between iPhone, iPad and Mac
• Alerts when a node drops, a task fails or a backup does not run

TRY IT WITHOUT A SERVER
Aprox ships with a complete demo cluster that runs entirely on-device. Nodes, guests, snapshots, tasks, consoles — everything works, nothing is a screenshot. Open it before you type a single credential.

APROX PRO
The free app browses your cluster and shows you everything above. Pro unlocks the console, guest creation, hardware editing, storage management, snapshots, backups, clones, migration, node maintenance and alerts. Available monthly, yearly or as a one-time lifetime purchase, all with Family Sharing and a 7-day free trial on the subscriptions.

Requires a Proxmox VE 7.0 or newer server that you already run. Aprox is an independent client and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH. Proxmox is a registered trademark of its owner.

### 1/5 — Fehlermeldungen

*2025-10-22, version 3.0.10*

Die App funktioniert bei mir nicht mehr. Hatte die Lebenszeit Variante gewählt. Hatte dies schon mal hier geschrieben jedoch hat Apple meine Bewertung gelöscht.

### 1/5 — OTP support

*2025-04-20, version 3.0.10*

Doesn’t request one time pass codes. User beware.

### 4/5 — The app works well but...

*2024-11-20*

The only problem is that the cpu values are not being calculated correctly outside of that it serves well to connect it via VPN and monitor the entire computer

**Developer response:** Hi Jpwoekfnsj,

Good catch, and it's fixed. The old app read the CPU figure straight from the API without weighting it by core count, so a busy single-core guest and a lightly loaded 16-core node looked similar. Aprox 4 computes cores actually in use against cores available, per node and cluster-wide, and shows both the instantaneous figure and the history.

That's part of a full rewrite: 2FA/TOTP and API-token login, a built-in VNC console, snapshots, backups and restore, clone and migrate, hardware editing, a cluster-wide dashboard covering capacity and commitment, alerts, widgets, and a native Mac app.

If a number still looks off, please tell me at github.com/mKenfenheuer/aproxapp/issues.

### 2/5 — Naja

*2024-10-30, version 3.0.10*

Praktisch, aber stürzt ab, sobald man Backupjobs konfigurieren will. Die Pro Version hat sich nicht gelohnt.

### 3/5 — .

*2024-09-14, version 3.0.10*

Very good but please fix bug with shutdown node

### 2/5 — Update dringend nötig!!!

*2024-07-22, version 3.0.10*

Schade

### 1/5 — Doesn’t connect

*2024-06-20*

Cannot get this to connect to my environment and the connection attempts never seem to timeout either. Makes it useless to me unfortunately.

**Developer response:** Hi BLanczak,

A connection attempt that never times out is a bug, not a configuration problem — and it is fixed. Aprox 4 has a new networking layer: every request has a real timeout, failures surface as a readable error naming the cause, and self-signed certificates get proper certificate pinning instead of a silent hang. Login now supports 2FA/TOTP, API tokens and custom realms.

Also new: a built-in VNC console, snapshots, backups, clone and migrate, hardware editing, a cluster-wide dashboard, alerts, and a native Mac app. Settings › Diagnostics collects a redacted log if a connection still fails, and Report an Issue files it at github.com/mKenfenheuer/aproxapp/issues for me to look at.

### 1/5 — Seit Pro Kauf schlagen alle Verbindungen fehl

*2024-04-29, version 3.0.10*

Ich hatte die App von Zeit zu Zeit verwendet um ein Auge auf damals eine Node zu haben. Soweit so gut. Aus der einen sind vier geworden und ich wollte mit der Konsole interagieren also das Upgrade gekauft und tada. Alle Verbindungsversuche mit dem Server schlagen fehl. „Attention! Error while communicating with server: The operation has timed out.“ Ist nun mein Leben.

### 2/5 — I loved this app

*2024-03-21*

I purchased the pro upgrade about a year ago now. When I was managing my Proxmox server fairly often in my homelab, this was my go-to. Now, whenever I open my app on either my phone or iPad, I’m given multiple popups saying the purchase restoration was unsuccessful and the features I paid for (the one-time lifetime purchase) are no longer available. I tried finding contact information for the developers and can’t find any on their website or here in the AppStore. Hopefully they see this and can help me troubleshoot what’s going on because I’d hate to lose the money I invested in this platform or have to move elsewhere when this one is extremely convenient.

**Developer response:** Hi jdlarrimo,

Two things you were right about, both fixed.

The purchase: repeated "restoration unsuccessful" popups came from the old receipt-validation code. Aprox 4 verifies entitlements through StoreKit 2 directly, with no cache that can go stale. Restore Purchases is in Settings, Family Sharing is on, and your lifetime purchase carries over — you are not paying again.

The contact: there was nowhere obvious to reach me, which was my fault. There is now a public tracker at github.com/mKenfenheuer/aproxapp/issues, and Settings › Diagnostics › Report an Issue opens a prefilled report with a redacted log attached.

The rest of v4 is a rewrite: built-in VNC console, snapshots, backups, clone and migrate, hardware editing, a cluster dashboard, alerts, and a native Mac app.
