## What is AQeye?

"If you breathe, you probably care."

Thirteen years ago, air quality information wasn't accessible except in legacy media... then came AQeye to bring these conditions and readings to everyday people.

It's kept its purpose over the last decade+ while improving the at-a-glance understandability for anyone who breathes; from basic colors to text, to individual pollutant readings, there's depth for just about anyone, no degree in Public Health required.

Data is sourced from reputable providers (primarily public health organizations when available).

## Key features

- Color-coded air quality indicators
- Pollutant information
- Wildfire effect tracking
- Data from government agencies (EPA)
- Easy-to-read format

### 5/5 — Readings stopped ?

*2026-07-06*

Update July 2026:

Update 2
I have upgraded to newest version. No change in ozone or PMs. Thank you for your art. Still my favoriate

Update 1
I didn’t receive a notice that you replied. Meantime, I rely upon this air quality app and boosted to 5 stars. Most reliable and informative about ozone and PMs.

I came back to the App Store to read about the source and now see an upgrade is available as well (haven’t done so yet, a little chicken).

I am correcting my rating even though so much time has passed.

2021 Rating
What happened? I liked it 4 stars worth but now 1 star. Past few days there have been no readings. “Not available”, although available on other apps.

**Developer response:** I really wish Apple would give me notifications of reviews so I apologize for the delay in response.

There were access issues with the data provider that took a few round-trips to resolve and there have been other changes as well.

If you're still seeing issues, please email info@aqeye.com so I can see what's up. If you're no longer seeing issues, I hope you'll revisit your rating. Thank you!

## Version history (last 5 of 5)

### 3.0.1 — 2026-07-10

Since 2020, we've known that it was time for a new generation of the apps under the hood. 2013 (the original code release) was a long time ago, and to establish the platform for years to come, v3 has been effectively rewritten using modern techniques and technologies to continue as a base long into the future.

In 3.0.1:

* NEW: VoiceOver support (feedback encouraged)
* BUGFIX: fixed a condition where the AQI values stop updating on-screen during long runs

In v3.0:

* All new infrastructure and codebase
* New app and preference settings
* New information about the photos you see rotating in the background - see an artist you like? Contact them!
* New information about platform supporters and friends of the project

### 2.1.1 — 2020-09-23

In 2.1.1:

• With all the horrible air quality, lately, we missed a border color on the gauge in the case of Good and Moderate! Not the end of the world but the rows will stand out better on Green and Yellow days now.
• Fixed the variable "black screen" on startup while initial location is determined
• Incorporated some of the common changes and minor bug fixes made for the tvOS app to keep everything consistent

In 2.1:

• Rethought the data presentation to now include more context
-- the Air Quality Index scale is right on the screen
-- current values shown both numerically and graphically within the overall scale
-- source is now prominently displayed since some data locations (such as State of Washington) report customized values on the same overall scale

• Squashed pesky bugs like:
-- not recognizing the locale properly on initial install to know whether you prefer Fahrenheit or Celsius.
-- where, if you watched the screen for hours, the background image fetch would eventually cause a crash. What, you're NOT that enthralled with the photography where you forget to look away?

2.0

Welcome to the all new WashoeAIR!

Some things that have changed:

• The platform has been rewritten from scratch in order to support more users and more features faster and more simply.
• There's a new visual layout that includes even more information about active pollutants (when available).
• There's clearer control over notifications.
