### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2025-06-22, version 2.0.9*

This app should allow the user to manage the pool heat pump via my local WiFi. I can’t even turn the heater ON/OFF. It shows me the temperature for one session. It will not update the temp and I have to close off the app and restart it again to get an updated temperature. In addition, the timer is not working. A really S..t app.

### 1/5 — O dear v2.x is unusable

*2025-06-15, version 2.0.9*

Was on v1.9x last year and worked fine, app updated to v2 and now 3 problems.
1) Password length reduced to 16 characters so had to reset as default iPhone codes are 20 characters.
2) Add my bluetooth device but app forgets it have to re sync every time
3) Outlet temperature no longer reads this did on 1.9 i need to know inlet vs outlet temperature to setup flow rate.
4) Its reporting the ambient temperature as 4.5C when its 22.5C in the setting 4.5C is the coil temperature so it’s reporting the incorrect value on main screen

Please fix point 3 ASAP my device is “Thermotec Penguin Heat Pump 4kw”

### 2/5 — Very raw app

*2025-05-20, version 2.0.8*

Feels like a beta version of an app. It is possible to search for blue tooth device unfortunately impossible to add. 😩 so next time you want to use the app it is search again and loose device as soon as app is switched off. Ambient temperature is wrong on the screen like 2.5 C. While it is 22 outside. Inside settings is correct

### 1/5 — Bring back the old app!

*2025-05-20, version 2.0.8*

Shocking piece of software. Does not reflect the actual state of the heat pump. Compressor in standby; no it’s not! It’s fully operational. Not heat into pool: yes there is output up 2 degrees!

### 2/5 — Useful but could be better

*2025-05-01, version 2.0.7*

For pool owners it would be great if there was a feature to schedule on and off times for the whole week. This would allow for additional heating at the weekend and to run cooler (cheaper) during the week when the pool is not in use. An instruction manual would also help!

***Update*** with the latest update it seems very easy to accidentally switch the heat pump off using the On/Off button on the app. I’m not entirely sure whether the app is doing this itself or not. Have found out on several occasions that the App is switching off the Heat pump for no reason (not related to the timer function). Very frustrating!!

### 1/5 — Not good

*2025-04-05, version 2.0.5*

This app is extremely poor and works only occasionally. The latest update may have made it even worse. It is very difficult to set up, it does not keep you logged in, and it often fails to respond to the commands you give it. Overall, it remains an average experience at best.

### 1/5 — The app (version 2.0.4) only allow Cooling.

*2025-03-12, version 2.0.4*

It doesnt allow you to change to Heat or Auto. It comes up with the message "The current mode is cooling mode only and can not be set to other modes!"

### 1/5 — Set to cooling mode and can’t be changed

*2025-03-11, version 2.0.4*

This new version of the app is terrible. Very hard to use . Now it’s also turned itself to cooling mode and says “mode can’t be changed” . Ummm what??

### 1/5 — Terrible App

*2025-03-08, version 2.0.4*

It was an awful app to begin with then it is updated to an even worse UX. I absolutely hate this app but I have no other way to control my pool heater. I would give it no stars if I could.

### 1/5 — Poorly written

*2025-02-26, version 2.0.4*

This app is an example of something you pay $500 to develop on a freelancer website, rather than consider this is the primary method your customers interact with your product. Terrible, shoddy implementation. Onboarding completely broke due to the app not being able to determine my WiFi SSID, without telling me, or giving me the option to type it in manually. They just haven’t handled even the most basic of edge cases when developing it. English is not their first language. Additionally, the app requests “Always” (background) Location, which is strongly discouraged by Apple and against App Store rules unless it’s absolutely required. It doesn’t handle imprecise location permission (SSID discovery breaks as above). The user interface locks up and does networking on main thread (I’m surprised this even passed Apple review - another App Store policy broken). I doubt they’ll fix it but let’s see. Another hardware manufacturer that thinks software and daily user experience is an afterthought.

Update: it also signs you out every 5 minutes 🤦‍♂️

### 1/5 — Useless

*2025-02-21, version 2.0.4*

This app has been updated end of 2024. It used to work & be reliable… Now it is harder to work & gives false temperature readings. Not even worthy of 1 Star!!!

### 1/5 — Connection

*2025-02-15, version 2.0.3*

Appauling App. If you are looking for a pool heater that you can control via the app do not bother.
This is a very poor product. And the support is not much better.

### 1/5 — Latest update looks good doesn’t work

*2025-02-12, version 2.0.2*

Latest update looks great / but cannot turn on the heater remotely… throwing errors… not good!

### 1/5 — Update is so

*2025-02-11, version 2.0.2*

The old app was bad, but this is even worse. I cannot log and I cannot change the programming to stop the heater coming on because you updated the app

### 1/5 — Update broke wireless control

*2025-02-11, version 2.0.2*

Update: still broken with 2.0.2

Even after 2.0.1 Can’t control my viron 190 pool heat pump. Was working before latest update. Now says Master / Slave switch close, unit under slave mode. No changes to my heat pump since we got it. Test your apps and advise a fix.

### 1/5 — Used to be ok. Latest update was by a child

*2025-02-08, version 2.0.1*

Was a simple app with easy to read temperatures and graphs. Since the update a few hours ago the temperatures are in a much smaller font and harder to read, there are spelling mistakes everywhere and children’s graphics now dominate the screen. The graphs no longer work and there lots of menu options that simply do nothing. Completely pointless update and if it wasn’t for the fact I’m forced by my heat pump manufacturer to use this app I would happily delete it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible Changes to the App

*2026-08-31*

I really liked this app when I first installed it. The most recent upgrade has caused most of the best features in the app to disappear. I used to be able to see the inlet and the outlet temperatures and the compressor load. Now it’s just a digital thermometer. The app and the functionality of it was one of our major reasons we purchased this heater. Very disappointed will not be recommending this heater.

### 1/5 — Unable to connect via BT

*2026-06-25, version 2.1.40*

I have been using the app for over 12 months. Reconnected my heat pump to the pool this year and I cannot connect to anything. It looks like there has been an update according to the previous reviews. Very annoying

### 1/5 — New update doesn’t work

*2026-05-07, version 2.1.40*

I’ve been using this app with my swim spa heat pump for the past 3 years without any problems at all. It always connected to my iPhone so was able to change the temperature of the spa at any time. This update has ruined everything. After many attempts I eventually managed to connect it to my home WiFi and phone and was able to use the functionality of the app. The next day it was disconnected and unusable. It does this after every time I manage to connect it. I’m now stuck having to alter everything manually at the heat pump. Why change something that works. Very disappointed, this needs addressing asap.

### 1/5 — Version 2.1.31 prevents user login

*2026-01-24, version 2.1.31*

As of the new version released 3 days ago (2.1.31) it is no longer possible for users to login. Credentials are correct and have worked perfectly in previous versions but now always report bad password. Login still works on phone which has not been updated to the latest version so the problem is definitely something in the new version and not the backend infrastructure. Was any usability testing carried out? Pity because despite some negative reviews, this app has worked flawlessly for at least a year and is a great help in managing a pool heat pump.

### 1/5 — Version 2.1.3

*2026-01-21*

App broke and can’t log in since Version 2.1.3 went live 13 hours ago

### 1/5 — App will no longer connect to device

*2026-01-21, version 2.1.3*

Sine this latest update device has lost account and will not reconnect to device. Data Error

### 1/5 — Abysmal

*2025-12-17, version 2.1.2*

I would award it zero stars if I could. It’s the only option I have to interface with my pool heat pump in Australia. The app is so bad. If you are considering a heat pump and find out this is the only software control you can use, select a different heat pump.

### 1/5 — App Useability

*2025-08-17, version 2.1.1*

CAN UP PLEASE FIX THIS APP! It is not refreshing the data!!! App is static. Not refreshing over time. Need to end app and start it again to show latest status. The feedback screen completely not working. Please update this app to actually be useful.

### 1/5 — Bad version

*2025-08-08*

Latest version broke everything, do you even test? How can we revert to a prior version?

### 1/5 — App Useability

*2025-06-30, version 2.0.9*

App is static. Not refreshing over time. Need to end app and start it again to show latest status. The feedback screen completely not working. Please update this app to actually be useful.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Quick response in fixing an issue

*2025-02-09, version 2.0.1*

Reported the bug on the new Ver 2.0 and got the fix a few days via Ver 2.0.1. Well done!

### 5/5 — Pretty Good

*2024-03-01*

Works most of the time. Has gone offline a couple of times and I have had to switch the heater on and off to get it to connect. Simple to control and gives you the ability to switch the heater off at peak electricity prices.

### 5/5 — Good, but could show more

*2023-02-08, version 1.8.2*

It’s good 👍🏻 If your the developer, please can you show when the ASHP is heating and when it’s idle with an icon. Thanks

### 5/5 — Great update

*2022-06-06, version 1.8*

Having the inlet/outlet temp displayed really useful. Subtle but nice display update. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Useful app

*2021-04-29, version 1.5*

Works well, nice to be able to check temperatures and adjust as necessary without going outside.

### 5/5 — Easy once set up

*2020-10-31*

Love that I can see how toasty my pool is when I’m at work and on a hot day I can turn it down/off of necessary.
Simple app.
No bells or whistles.
Easy.

### 4/5 — Aqua Temp needs work

*2025-07-05, version 2.0.9*

This app feels like it was created in a weekend. Honestly, it shouldn’t be this difficult. Why on earth does Aqua Temp constantly require re-logging in? And why is it always out-of-sync with the pool heater, so for example this app will show the water as 26 degrees and heater is in “mute” mode, when in actual fact the water is 30 degrees and the heater is running full blast. Then there’s the times this App loses contact all together, and you have to follow the setup process all over again on-site. Simply restarting your WiFi modem requires a full setup all over again! It’s utterly insane, did anyone test this? It’s 2023 and this is simple stuff, just basic controls and sensors. Please fix this App and how it works with the pool heater WiFi modules. Thanks. Update: It’s now 2024 and this still isn’t fixed.
Update: In 2025 it seems someone listened and updated the app? It now mostly works like you’d expect. Thanks for listening, I’m upgrading from 1 star to 4!

### 4/5 — Works

*2025-02-12, version 2.0.2*

The app works. Allows to set temperature and times for the pool heater. Does the job and no major bugs. I couldnt find how to ask for support so ill ask it here. The cloud timer is 3 hours backwards for my location. Ie if i want the heater to start at 9 i have to set it up at 6 - probably needs some attention to programming timezones or such. Thanks

### 4/5 — App Broken - Feb 2025

*2025-02-10, version 2.0.2*

Update finally app has been fixed & functionality working again. Thank you.

——-

I updated the Aqua Temp app yesterday 08.02.2025 and now it will not work with my spa heater.
Please see attached video.

I can access the spa pump and everything however does not let you remotely turn it on and off any more. The apps on and off button does not work.

I believe your app has now got glitches in it and is definitely not working properly. I have deleted the app, removed the device re-added and it still will not working.

This is a big issue for us as we need to be able to activate this remotely can you please advise how this will be fixed and when?

### 4/5 — Pool Heater App

*2023-06-13, version 1.8.3*

Was difficult to set up initially couldn’t connect to wifi and setup instructions were missing vital information
Once it was going it has worked very well
