The only gripe I have is that there are no filters that apply only an artistic painted effect. They all change the colours of the artwork as well unless one weakens the strength of the filter to a degree. This is a pity when applying to landscapes. The good news is there are plenty of new filters being added - but the algorithms are also being changed - and the user interface is now really inconsistent. The Kooning filter has six settings which is great but processing starts as soon as you touch just one not allowing you to tweak the full range. The Crayon Legacy filter has thirteen parameters but most have just two. The original filters had two settings - Steps and Intensity - with Intensity going up to 100. This was changed so that Intensity is now throttled down to max 70 and in many filters the settings choice reduced to just Steps. Some of my favourite filters are now useless - eg Mona Edulesco, Shelly Newman, Cuno Amiet… The predominantly Pointillism filters with the preprocessing ‘Dots’ do not function and produce a blocky abstract finish. Having said all that, this is a fantastic app which will produce amazing art and has lots of not so obvious opportunities to extend your creativity. The sliders do not allow to go back to the less intensified versions. AI makes it a lot worse than the previous version. I had a 3-day trial and cancelled it after 30 minutes. The photos were horrible with the filters they offered. Don’t bother. ### 1/5 — Based on the sample, no thanks *2024-09-29, version 2.2.9* I get it. Writing code and hosting AI tools is expensive. If you're going to give users a sample of the product, however, don't use the really poor neural filter processes from 2019. It's like handing out stale leftovers at a bakery, trying to entice new customers. It just doesn't work. There isn't enough in the pre-subscribe sample package to make subscribing (even with 3 free days) worthwhile. I didn't look nearly as interesting as the App Store info. Sorry. Also, there's no description of what the "cloud credit pack" is for and why I should pay extra for those credits. Are they for AI-based actions? If so, is the $30 annual just for access to purchase additional credits? Seems odd to me. ### 1/5 — Sad *2024-04-12, version 2.1.8* This is sad to see. I doubt the living artists named and used to train the AI for this app gave permission to this developer. ### 1/5 — Not working *2023-08-27, version 2.0.0* Advise not to sign up for a payment plan with 5 of your apps as none of them work at all. ### 2/5 — Not working *2023-08-17, version 1.2.0* All your apps just linger on each effect and never reaches complete. ### 3/5 — Flawed *2024-08-19* This has been my favourite app and I have used it intensively to produce some amazing results. There have been some adverse updates causing freezing and crashes which now seem to have been cured. However, the most recent updates have not addressed the two problems that now make this app extremely frustrating to use. 1. Filter strengths have been throttled from 100 to around 70 so that the fun has gone out of exploring the extremes of the filters, and 2. The filters which work progressively up to 50 thereafter take on a reddish hue even if increased to just 51 and become bizarrely pixilated. On the plus side there are plenty of new filters being added - though too much emphasis on Van Gough for my taste. However, the fundamental flaws in the software need to be addressed urgently before it becomes too frustrating to bother with. ### 4/5 — Refresh button is irritating *2026-03-05* I have only been using the app for 1 day, however compared to Topaz Studio or Smart Photo having to click the Refresh to see the results of your guesswork on using the sliders is irritating.
