Not to mention the enjoyment of raising for your own aquarium to show off to your friends and another aquarium to appeal to npcs for rewards. Along with raising fish (and other adorable creatures tbh) and trying to get mutations, they have regular events to help out so you never feel stuck. They even offer minigames to earn needed materials while you wait for your fish to grow! You have your basic known fish 2. You have fish that make you question your existence and mutations that make you laugh. 3. Some events repeat themselves a bit too frequently in spans of short times.
