### 3/5 — How to use?

*2025-07-31*

Is there no user manual?

### 4/5 — No longer working, wait now it is

*2025-05-29*

This used to work great on Apple Watch. Now it keeps popping up permission for health data. But the prompt disappears before I can click it. So now I can’t use it at all.

Now it’s working next day with no change. Updated my rating.

### 5/5 — Fantastic App! Fantastic Developer!

*2024-12-09*

This app is fantastic and even better than the native app for the Varia Radar Taillight. (That app will only work on your phone.) I had a special use case in that I wanted to mount my Apple Watch on my handlebars so I could always see the screen without taking my hands off the handlebars. However, once removed from the wrist, the display would time out and go dark after 70 seconds. Over email the developer helped me figure out the problem and how to disable wrist detection on the Apple Watch. Now the display stays on throughout the entire ride so I can always see how many cars are back. Roberto, the developer, provides the best support going way above and beyond what most other developers provide. Milione di grazie Roberto!

**Developer response:** Thanks!

### 4/5 — Works fine on Ultra 2

*2024-11-25*

It does indeed work quite well. Especially like the vibration when I can’t hear because of background noise. However, instructions on use are a bit sparse.

### 5/5 — Great app !

*2024-10-01*

I’ve been using the app for maybe a month now. I use it on my watch series 8 without my cellphone present. The app works great in current format , and the developer is SUPER responsive ( emails me back within minutes ) about making changes you want to see to improve the App. If you use an Apple Watch , and ride with a bike radar , for $6 this app is a serious bargain and no brainer and he will only continue to refine and improve the app.

**Developer response:** Thanks!

### 5/5 — Very useful app!

*2024-08-01, version 2.4*

Really nice integration with radar! The haptic feedback is quite a nice way to be alerted. The developer is very accessible and helpful! Thanks!

### 5/5 — Great value, great app

*2024-06-30*

I recently got the Garmin bike radar for safety. This wonderful app makes it possible to use the radar without having to mount the phone on the bike or having a dedicated bike computer to pair with the radar. It does its job well and, thankfully, is not a subscription app. The one time payment is very reasonable. The developer is capable, friendly and very responsive. 10/10!!!

**Developer response:** Thanks!

### 4/5 — Nice app needs better edit feature

*2024-06-16*

Great app, easily paired to my Apple Watch. Not sure why it recorded my last ride as a walk. Typically I don’t walk at 17 mph. I can go back and edit that it was a ride rather than a walk. Would be nice if I could set bike ride as a default. Well worth the six bills for radar detection and alarm to my watch.

June 16 update review. Talked with the developer who was very responsive. Reset a few items on my Apple Watch and works much better.

**Developer response:** thanks!

**Developer response:** Hi contact me and I will help you. Leaving a bad review for a "great app" as you mentioned it's not correct at all!

Bike is the default so maybe you changed by mistake?

### 5/5 — Top pour utilisation avec Apple Watch

*2024-05-24*

**Developer response:** Thanks!

### 5/5 — Excellent with Apple Watch

*2024-04-06*

Super pleased with the app. First test ride today with watch paired to rvr315 - easy no fuss pairing , just turn on the radar , select ARadar on the watch and you are ready to roll . It works great , with my side mirror all I need is the haptic alert on the watch. When I got back I adjusted watch haptic setting to “prominent “ just so it’s very obvious , I rarely ride in roads with a lot of traffic so this works for me.

update 4/6/24: affer downloading the new version i experienced a couple of glitches - roberto super helpful and issues promptly resolved . thanks!

**Developer response:** thanks!

### 5/5 — Exceptional App, Exceptional Developer!

*2024-03-14*

I cannot speak highly enough of Roberto's dedication and expertise. Initially, I reached out to him seeking clarification on how the app integrates with Garmin Varia 315. Roberto not only promptly addressed my inquiries but also went above and beyond to accommodate my specific needs. As someone with hearing difficulties, I expressed the importance of having a haptic feedback option for car proximity alerts. Without hesitation, Roberto sprang into action.
Over the following weeks, he diligently crafted a solution that surpassed my expectations. Not only did he introduce vibrations to the Apple Watch interface, but he also integrated a visual alert on my iPhone. Now, with a subtle tap on my wrist, I can effortlessly glance at my iPhone for confirmation – a truly ingenious enhancement.
I must commend Roberto's patience and willingness to iterate, not to mention deal with me as his “test dummy”. His commitment to perfecting the app was unwavering.
Thank you, Roberto, for your exceptional work and unwavering dedication. You've truly transformed my experience with the app, and I couldn't be more grateful.

**Developer response:** thanks so much!

### 5/5 — Great for commutes

*2024-03-07*

This app is a great idea. I use my bike a lot for errands and having to take my phone on and off of it is one more thing to do before I can be on my way. It’s also risky to have it on the handlebars in the first place, and a bike computer is total overkill and yet another thing to charge and buy.

My only suggestion would be regarding the audio and vibration alerts. I do wish it was configurable or changed somehow to be more like the official Varia app, where there is a clear alert for someone approaching you going very fast, and also an alert for when there is no longer anything on the radar.

**Developer response:** i have a lot of news in the next version. write me an email to roberto.viola83 at gmail.com to get the new beta!

### 5/5 — Best cycling app with Radar connectivity

*2024-02-16*

Roberto made number of revisions very promptly to address a feature I was requesting. In my opinion it’s the best and simplest app (the most inexpensive as well) to use with Apple Watch that is integrating Apple cycling and Radar into one package.

**Developer response:** thanks!

### 1/5 — Not good

*2024-09-23*

It does not alert me on my watch of an approaching vehicle. Intermittent connection with the Garmin radar

**Developer response:** Send me an email to Roberto.viola83 at Gmail.com, I guess you are running apple workout as well on the same watch

### 1/5 — Doesn't see to work on Ultra 2

*2024-09-14*

Momentarily connects to Varia RCT715 then disconnects.. No support that I can find.

### 1/5 — Used to be great. M

*2024-04-05*

Since the latest version, it just isn’t working for me.

**Developer response:** update it, i guess I fixed it. Let me know by email to roberto.viola83 at gmail.com

### 1/5 — Crash loop

*2024-01-28*

Just tried it on a ride after purchasing and it crashes on startup. watchOS 10.3 ultra, all other apps closed, garmin rtc715.

**Developer response:** Hi, leaving a review without contacting the developer is useless. I would like to fix the issue so write me to Roberto.viola83 at Gmail.com

Thanks

### 1/5 — Couldn’t get this to work

*2023-10-06, version 2.1*

The app consistently shows that it can’t connect to my radar while my Garmin Varia app has no problem connecting

### 1/5 — Pleasantly surprised !

*2023-08-24*

After moving the Garmin Varia to a saddle bag, it wasn’t responsive as before so I tried this Apple Watch app & to my surprise. It’s very responsive & convenient since my watch is already on my wrist.
Now it’s more responsive than Garmin very own app. I also like the sounds & numbers on my watch letting me know, how many cars have to pass before I look back to check that I’m clear to go

**Developer response:** hi, thanks for the review but why only 1 star? what should i improve it?

### 1/5 — Not working

*2023-08-21, version 2.1*

Don’t buy this doesn’t work

### 2/5 — Will not Install

*2024-12-08, version 2.4*

The app will not install in my Apple Watch Series 8 GPS + Cellular

### 2/5 — Battery Consumption Unsustainable

*2024-09-01, version 2.4*

I activated my Garmin RCT715 + ARadar for a 50-mile bike ride. My Apple Watch was at 100% charge at the start. It was under 20% at the end. I can’t risk running the Apple Watch battery all the way to 0%, which would have happened on a 4-hr ride. I am abandoning the app. $6 down the drain.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Perfect for commuting

*2026-08-07*

I use Varia 315 for commuting, bike computer just for radar is overkill. ARadar on Apple Watch is perfect for my usage. My app configuration is Notification: Voice (distance) + Cars Notification: Every Second. Now I don’t need to check watch display. The voice notification gives real time update on the cars behind. Excellent !

**Developer response:** Thanks!

### 5/5 — If You Have A Bike Radar And An Apple Watch …

*2026-06-10*

Then you simply HAVE to buy this. It gives you a lifetime membership for a few quid and for me-it’s an essential purchase. There is also a free IPhine version but this is the one to get. Switch to ‘Classic’ mode on the Watch. And you get three tones to indicate the proximity of upcoming traffic. You don’t even need a Garmin Edge unit. Beebeedoop for distant. Deedeedoop getting nearer. And Deedoop for imminent. Future versions will have a Ding! 🛎️ to notify the All Clear There are three other modes but for me the Classic is the most intuitive. My only ‘gripe’ being that instructions could be better. But I’ve sussed it now. Also the guy (Roberto) who made the App replies fast and very interactive to suggestions. Recommended!

**Developer response:** Thanks!

### 5/5 — No bike computer needed!

*2026-04-19*

I bought the new Lezyne radar light. I liked the idea of radar but I really didn't like the idea of a big complicated bike computer on my handlebars. I wrote to Roberto to ask if his app worked with this new radar. It didn't, but within a week he had it working! all that I need- a little beep when there's a car behind you and a different sound when it's all clear. The watch face has an easy to read at a glance display - in addition to a number it is color coded, green for clear and yellow or red for a car back. It even syncs with workouts to record your ride. Thank you Roberto!

**Developer response:** Thanks

### 5/5 — Happy customer but got one suggestion

*2025-08-30*

I am a happy customer of your apple watch app but thought I would send you one suggestion.

There have been a couple of occasions where either my Garmin radar went out of battery in the middle of the ride, or I moved out of Bluetooth range (such as to go to a restroom during a ride), or, for some mysterious reason, the connection was lost to my watch.

The problem is that when this happens, the recording of the ride stops, and Apple workout picks up, which messes up what gets uploaded to Strava. Is it possible to keep recording the ride even though the Garmin radar has lost connection for one reason or another?

Update - Roberto replied to me and pointed out there is an "auto stop" setting on the watch that can be used to control the behavior, which addressed my issue.

### 5/5 — Top

*2025-06-09*

Facile d’installation, à voir à l’usage mais cela a l’air vraiment bien. Merci

**Developer response:** Thanks!

### 5/5 — Perfect solution to the Garmin Varia

*2025-06-07*

I didn’t like having to clamp a phone to my handlebars to use the app for my Garmin Varia. This Apple watch app solves that problem perfectly. It vibrates your Apple watch when new cars come up behind you. I prefer to use the nice and loud beeping option. It beeps when new cars come up, then plays a different sound when its all clear. I never have to fiddle with it, I just turn on my Varia, open the Aradar app and go. Lots of great new features keep getting added as well. Highly recommended!

**Developer response:** Thanks!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-04-25*

When riding with others no one wants to hear the radar beep. This app is an elegant fix.

Improvement - when riding on rough roads or gravel the vibration alarm of the watch can be too subtle. I wish there was a way to turn up the strength or intensity of the vibration notification.

**Developer response:** Thanks!

### 5/5 — Makes bike radars useful if you don’t have a bike computer

*2025-04-21*

Bike radars are essential gear if you ride on roads with cars. But they assume you have a bike computer or handlebar-mounted phone to see and hear the alerts. They’re pretty useless on an iPhone in your pocket, where you cannot see the alerts and likely can’t hear them well.

ARadar fixes that by sending radar details to your Apple Watch, where you can easily see it when desired while riding—and better hear (and feel) alerts than you do from that phone in your pocket.

I rely on ARadar on every ride, and I am so glad it exists — and that it is so good. I love it.

The user interface is clean and clear. Really smart.

I love the new Always On Demand setting in version 2.5, which focuses on the essentials — how many cars are coming up behind you — so it takes just a second to understand the situation when you hear the alert. (The standard setting shows much more data about your ride, but it’s too hard for me to focus with all that data when I glance at the Watch.)

The integration with Health and Workout means using ARadar doesn’t interfere with your workout tracking—that’s an issue with many Watch apps as they compete with Workout or provide too little tracking passthrough to Workout via the Health app. (Ride with GPS, for example, gets this wrong.) The developer understood that cyclists track more than one thing a time and so ensured full Health passthrough onto Workout.

The Apple Watch makes for a great cycling computer, and is less distracting or accident-prone than a handlebar-mounted computer. It’s also much cheaper and can do tons more. I’m surprised it’s not more common among cyclists. Apps like ARadar may help change that.

The new version 2.5 adds support for the Trek CarBack radar (I was a beta-tester for that integration), so more people can now benefit. (Garmin Varia and Bryton Gardia are also supported.)

**Developer response:** Thanks!

### 5/5 — Very Nice!

*2025-01-03*

Downloaded ARadar for audible warnings on my Apple Watch when using Varia radar. Worked great. My Garmin 840 is too quiet. Bonus features include showing distance and speed of overtaking vehicle. I recommend it over using Varia app on the iPhone.

**Developer response:** Thanks!
