初期から使っていますが、今回のアップデートはかなり安定していて軽くなりました。
以前はログが増えるほど重くなってデータをシェイプしていたのですが、データを引き継いでも重さが変わってない感じで素晴らしいです。今後も安心して使えそうです。
買い切りサブスクも継承してくれるのも嬉しいですね。
敷いて要望するならば、ヒートマップがもう少しクールだといかな。あとはspeedometerという車用ログのような集計機能が充実してるといいですね。

The import from Arc Timeline 3 to 4 is extremely slow. However once the import is done the UI is smooth. I’m not a fan of Liquid Glass but that ship has sailed; I’ll just have to get used to it.
I noticed that the processing engine also seems faster: when I change an individual segment from one type to another, it takes a lot less time for the result to be shown. Also, when I arrive at a known location, Arc Timeline 4 would display the location way faster than Arc Timeline 3: version 3 would still say “thinking” when version 4 is done. There are some missing features (where are the weather information for trips?) but I hope the developer can add them back in due course.

For weather data, yep, that's coming back in an update hopefully soon. I'm also fond of that feature.

For other features you like from the old app but don't yet see in the new, it's worth heading to the support forum (https://support.bigpaua.com) and posting about them there. The more requests I hear, the better I know how to prioritise. And there's a chance you'll also find existing discussion of some favourites, with replies from me saying how soon to expect them to arrive.

Die ursprüngliche App war schon ziemlich gut, aber Version 4 ist schneller, moderner und gefühlt Akku-schonender als die Vorgängerversion.
Ich bereue nicht die lebenslange Version erworben zu haben. Die Lizenz der alten Version wurde sofort in der neuen Version übernommen.
Wer gerne seinen Standort tracken möchte ohne seine Daten vollständig an Google oder andere Datensammler geben zu müssen sollte hier richtig sein. Die Daten liegen auf dem Handy und sonst nirgends (gehe ich von aus). Fazit: fast perfekt!

I've been using the previous version of Arc for many years now. I have location history going back to 2014. I enjoy being able to see where I've been while the data remains on my phone.

This rewrite is astoundingly faster , looks more modern, and also is a lot more accurate for me. I am enjoying it quite a bit.

It's still missing some features from the old version, but the improved speed more than makes up for it. And it's active development too.

I’ve been using ARC for more than ten years, since the old Moves app went belly-up. I like that my data stays in my control, I like the ease with which I can annotate my records, and I like that the app’s interpretation of my locations has improved beyond what GPS alone can provide as it learned to recognize my privately named locations.

Feels very vibe coded. Lots of crashes in the app and no developer support.

The app has no crashes (it’s all monitored), there’s an incredibly active customer support forum that I’m replying on all day, and the app has been in development for two years with an entire year of successful public beta prior to going live on the App Store.

I’ve been a long time - paying - user for the original Arc app. While I agree with the developer’s assessment that maybe the time had come for a revamp, Arc Timeline 4 leaves a lot to be desired. For starters, the import of my old Arc data. Not only does it take to long - and I’m not getting a warning that my phone will be unavailable for 10-15 minutes -, it looks like raw unmanipulated data was imported from Arc. Meaning that if I corrected Arc’s mistakes - and there were plenty - those manual overwrites are lost in Arc Timeline 4. And that alone makes the app unusable for me for the moment.

**Developer response:** Hi! What you describe there is not correct or normal.

This is something that should be dealt with on the customer support forum, as a tracked support issue. App Store reviews are not an appropriate place for this.

Sometimes thinks I walk at 400mph or sleep in a parking lot or am stationary while boating on water. Place search is flaky. Great concept though. Hasn’t changed substancially in years.

RIP Arc timeline, this new version puts a blue active location indicator at the top of your screen 24/7!! This is completely unnecessary but there's no way to make it go away.

**Developer response:** Update: as of version 1.5.0, the persistent location indicator is gone. Arc now records in the background with no Dynamic Island indicator and no status bar location arrow, with the same recording reliability, battery use, and data quality as before. This one took years of experimenting against iOS's constraints, and we're glad to finally have it resolved. Hope you'll give the app another look.

Top aber plötzlich sehr hoher Akkuverbrauch seit ich das iPhone vor ca 4 Wochen neu gestartet habe. Ein Modus mit geringerer Genaugkeit zu Gunsten des Akkus wäre wichtig.

**Developer response:** Danke für die Rückmeldung! Ein plötzlich hoher Akkuverbrauch ist nicht normal — Arc ist darauf ausgelegt, sehr sparsam zu laufen, und sollte im Alltag kaum spürbar sein. Statt die Genauigkeit zu reduzieren (was die Qualität der Timeline deutlich verschlechtern würde), finden wir lieber die Ursache. Solche Phasen erhöhten Verbrauchs entstehen oft durch iOS selbst und normalisieren sich meist von allein. Falls nicht: Im Support-Forum (support.bigpaua.com) können wir uns das mit einem Log genauer ansehen.

たぶん10年くらい使っています。永久ライセンスを購入して非常に気に入っていました。しかし、

iPhone12で使用していますが、タイムラインで肝心な日付が「2026年7月2…」と表示されてしまい、いつの記録か分からなくなりました。このままでは使えません。何とかしていただけると助かります。
よろしくお願いします。

追記
2日後に回答があり、修正して頂けるとのことでした。
素早い対応に感謝します。星の数を2から5に変更しました。

日付が「2026年7月2…」と省略されてしまう問題、ご報告の通り再現・確認できました。原因も特定済みで、バグとして登録しています(整理番号 BIG-673)。近いうちのアップデートで修正できる見込みです。

ご不便をおかけして申し訳ありません。報告していただいたおかげで、日本語表示を使う全ユーザーのための改善につながります。

旧アプリでは、処理中にページ切り替えなどの操作をすると、たまにクラッシュしてしまう事があったのですが、今のところそのような兆候は無く安定しています。

現状の不満点としては、以前は出来ていたライトモード/ダークモードのアプリ内での任意切り替えが出来ない事

Timeline 4 is a massive update and huge change for the better! The UI *flies* now, days and weeks and months load instantly. And finally dark mode! Congrats and thank you to Matt for the job well done, glad for all the work you do.

Thank you for this amazing update, Matt. The new Arc app 4 has proven on my end to be very reliable and it does its job flawlessly, once I confirm a location it stays that way which is great. Its simplicity makes it easy to use and understand and fun to use. It doesn’t affect my battery significantly which is a big plus too. Totally recommend this app.

This is the best app that I have ever used. The developer is responsive and dedicated. The update seems more accurate and stable than ever before.  If you are concerned about the cost you should consider the fact that, if you are like me, you will use this app multiple times per day every day and it does exactly what it promises to do.

This was exactly what I was looking for as it discreetly and privately logs my location without a lot of battery drain. I really like that I can leave notes at each location and it is easy to correct a particular location if need be. I rarely pay subscriptions for apps but for this one, I will gladly make an exception and pay the $4.99 monthly fee. Well worth it. Good job! 🙂

旧バージョンで永久ライセンス購入してます

AppStoreでダウンロードしたら旧バージョンからデータのインポート開始　しかしライセンス関係が移行されておらず一週間無料お試しをしました　それが切れたらライセンス購入の画面が出てそれ以上進めず…

一旦、こちらを削除して旧バージョンを開いたら、なんと旧バージョンでもライセンス購入の画面が表示されるようになってしまった！

購入のリストアボタンがあったので、それでライセンス復活出来ました　その後、改めてこのバージョンをインストール　　再度過去データがインポートされ、無事ライセンスも移行されました

ライセンス関連で少し手間取りましたが、動作自体は全く問題無いです

**Developer response:** Hi! Sorry to hear you had trouble with the subscription carryover. We shipped an update to the old app to try to improve it, so it hopefully won't happen again for more people. But yeah, the initial carryover didn't work as well as planned.

Anyway, thanks for your review and feedback! Oh and do make sure you've cancelled the free trial you started, so that you don't accidentally get charged unnecessarily.
