When I select my device, it instantly crashes. And when you reinstall, it does it again! Very fun experience. ### 1/5 — Crashing app *2023-07-06* I purchased a used Arcam that did not have a remote. Planned to use this app instead. App downloaded fine on iOS. Opened fine and found receiver, but then crashed when the receiver was selected. Cannot get the app to stop crashing. ### 1/5 — Won’t Work for Me (iOS 16) *2023-03-14* This simple app would be great, but despite a long exchange of e-mails with the support folks (which mostly had me retrace obvious steps I’d tried before contacting them), it ultimately came down to them advising me that they could make it work on iOS 16 with their setup, and suggesting I contact my dealer. The specific problem is the inability of the app to discover my SA20 integrated amp. Interestingly, the app worked on an old iPad with iOS 9, but won’t work on either an iPhone or iPad running iOS 16. The version info for the app notes an update to deal with an issue discovering the unit in iOS 14.5. I wonder if history has repeated itself. Regardless, since the app continues to wrack up 1 star ratings I think it’s fair to conclude that Harman International has no intention of upgrading it. Sad, given the fact that their products are otherwise quite good. ### 1/5 — Crashes immediately *2023-02-21* I have an AVR31. App crashes immediately after opening. Just bought an AVR21 and this app just crashes. Period. I moved from a Marantz and thought I was frustrated by their app. But theirs looks like a masterpiece to this. I contacted support and they said to use MusicLife (Put out by the parent co) which also doesn’t work except simply for channel selection. Ridiculous. ## Most praised reviews (8 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — ARCAM Control Moves from 1 Star to 5 Stars *2022-10-07, version 2.10.2* Finally got ARCAM Control App to work consistently. Up until 3 weeks ago, ARCAM Control was failing every two or 3 days, presenting a window which stated: “Unable to Connect, Unknown Error Occured”. That required a hard reset of my AVR 390 in order to reconnect to the ARCAM Control App (for another 2 or 3 days). My A/V Consultant (Best Buy/Magnolia) explained that the dropped ARCAM Control App connection was due to my AVR 390 Network setting being “USE” DHCP. He told me that this resulted in the eventual loss of connection between the AVR 390 and the ARCAM Control App. Our A/V Consultant changed the AVR 390 Network setting to “NO” DHCP, with a fixed IP Address. Problem solved. My AVR 390 has been connected to the ARCAM Connect App for 3 uninterrupted weeks. From anywhere in my home, I can now turn my ARCAM AVR 390 on/off, mute, change sources, adjust volume. ### 5/5 — Arcam AVR 390 *2019-12-15, version 2.6.0* This amp/receiver is fantastic. Sound is so clear. This app to control it works as it should. ### 4/5 — SR 250 Stereo receiver *2022-10-30, version 2.10.2* First I pressed menu on the remote, then I pressed General Setup, then I went down to Control and pressed it, and finally I changed control to IP. That’s all. It now works great. Hope this helps. ### 4/5 — Drops connection *2020-05-25, version 2.7.1* UPDATE: Version 2.7.1 fixes the connection issues mentioned below. Thank you Arcam for listening to users, although it’s hard to understand how a bug like that made it through testing in the first place. This app used to work well to control my AVR390. After recent updates it connects to the receiver correctly when it first opens, but if you leave the app and return to it (letting the app run in the background) you get a message that says “Unable to connect An unknown error occurred”. Have to quit the app and reopen it to get it to connect to the receiver again. Very annoying. ### 3/5 — Amazing AVR, App is dead. *2023-07-08* This app is so outdated, it doesn’t have the required iOS permissions to operate as a network app. I give it 3 starts because the AVR itself doesn’t need an app given how incredible it is but having the app would be nice. This is my first review ever lol. I have been having an iPhone since I was 14 I’m 23 now. ### 3/5 — MusicLife is the official app *2023-03-27* I m experiencing the same crashes that everyone has mentioned here. I reached out to support and got to know that this app is no longer supported. Per, Arcam, MusicLife is official Harman app and will be able to recognize Arcam products. It worked in my case for Arcam AVR 21 ### 3/5 — App works well - 1 big exception *2022-05-20, version 2.10.2* The app connects every time, all needed controls are easy once you learn. So give it a 1-2 for learning curve. The big exception is the volume control. Circular design is harder to adjust than straight slider and when you move to a straight slider or not, please add the ability to single step the volume. With a Touch + and Touch -. **Developer response:** I'm not sure what is missing from the Info panel, but if you'd like to contact arcam.support@harman.com we can certainly look into this for you! ### 3/5 — Glad to have the app *2020-01-08, version 2.6.0* App connected to my receiver (AVR390) immediately and I was able to control it. My key hope for this app is to be able to perform automated tasks via Siri. If the devs use the API that Apple provides to register app actions (i.e. turn volume up, switch inputs, direct mode, mute, etc) that would allow me to use Apple’s Shortcuts function to add automated routines I can then trigger with Siri via my phone or HomePod. **Developer response:** What a neat suggestion!
