To be clear, the SA35 blows away the NAD in both functionality and sound quality, but the Radia app definitely lags the BluOS functionality of the NAD. First and foremost, the Qobuz integration in the Radia app is downright awful. While it does maintain a reliable connection, unlike BluOS in the NAD, the UI is not only totally unattractive, but missing key data like the artist’s name when viewing albums in Qobuz’ recommended album view. I wish there was some way to incorporate Qobuz’ GUI and ease of use into the Radia app. Doing so would significantly increase the end-user experience and go a long way to addressing most if not all the criticisms the app has generated. ### 1/5 — The Worst Streaming App *2025-03-10* No control over the device settings (other than network connection). Supports only a couple streaming services and has no way to sort playlists. Provides a few internet radio presets that can’t be customized. Less functional than an AM radio from 1950s. ### 2/5 — Simply awfull *2024-09-30* This app is not really fit for purpose. Compared to other Arcam apps it is bare bones basic. Yes it allows you to play music on the ST5 but gives you little or no control over the unit’s settings. For example, the ST5 has a bad habit of switching rom bitstream output to analogue output midstream with no apparent reason - the app has no facility to switch the setting back. As for controlling your music this app could not be more basic - it feels like it was created by a ten year old. The search feature barely works and takes multiple steps to produce a mush-mash of poorly related results, The playlist listings, especially from Qobuz often list just an album title but give no artist information. There’s no way to jump from the app to itherARCAM CONTROL APPS SUCH AS THE ONE THAT CONTROLS THEIR AMPS. THEIR ‘music life” app that has been around much longer allows one touch switching between ARCAMS AMP CONTROLLER AND ‘music life”. Itt’s a real shame that the ST5, a pretty good streaming unit, la badly let down by an absolutely awfull app. As a long standing ARCAM affecionada of more that three decades, I am seriously concerned at the very poor quality that Arcam seem happy to put out to its customers with this app. ### 1/5 — Very, very poor. *2024-04-28* This app is a badly designed, unintuitive mess. It needs a complete redesign. After paying a lot of money for Radia series equipment owners deserve something a lot better than this. ### 3/5 — limited app functionality *2024-03-31* The arcam ST5 sounds great. The app is awful can not control the volume. I bought the unit in 2023 and next to no app updates. Clearly the people who work there never listen to music using their lousy app. ### 3/5 — FUNCTIONAL BUT QUIRKY. IT NEEDS WORK. *2024-01-05* I was excited to unpack my newly purchased ARCAM ST5 and start the setup. I opened the app and turned on the ST5 and there it appeared on the app screen. A simple matter to add the Wi-fi ID and I was in business. After a day of playing music using the app I firmly came to the conclusion that the app worked but definitely was quirky and needed much improvement. The app provided access to Qobuz but with many shortcomings chief of which was horrendous search functionality which took several steps to complete. Apple api provided a great search facility that most music apps adopt, for some reason, Harmon, have either resisted using it, or have mangled it in ways that make it absolutely painful to use. The display is very basic, giving no ability to customize it. Listing albums gives title only but no artist I’ neither does it provide information on audio quality which you’d think was an essential when the purpose was to operate a high quality audio device were sound quality is the main purpose. Having used ROON for a couple of years, the while look and feel of the ARCAM app is like finding yourself having to ride a bicycle when your used to the luxury car you get with ROON. A key missing pice for me is the ability to change the app to display in dark mode to help me see the test better. This of course is a standard feature of most music streaming app but is a major omission from this app. I noticed really ponderous navigation on long lists, like artist listings in the QOBUZ liked lists. If you have liked a large number of artists, tracks, or albums, forget trying to navigate them using the app - it is almost useless with some very quirky ideas of what constitutes alphabetical order. All in all, the app works, but it does so like apps did ten years ago. It needs lots of work. Hopefully, QOBUZ, will add connect functionality from its own app soon, as has TIDAL and Spotify, rather than the basic AirPlay connection. On a plus side, the App does handle internet radio fairly well. , and had no trouble recognizing and streaming content from a 4 TB. SSD drive using the USB function. Amazon Music control was so limited in the content it provided that it provided access to that I didn’t give it any serious try. In summary, for a free app, that integrates well with the ST5, it can be made to work, but it is really basic and understandably it’s nowhere near as functional or pretty, as a paid subscription offering. ## Frequently asked questions about ARCAM Radia ### What music services can I access with ARCAM Radia?
