## What is Ariata?

Ariata is an instrument you cannot play wrong.

The screen is a lattice of horizontal rows. Each row is a note of the current moment; the bright rows are the notes of the current chord. Touch anywhere and a note that fits sounds — tap for one note, swipe up or down for a run, use several fingers for a chord. The harmony moves on its own, in four-bar phrases with a classical grammar, so whatever you play sits inside music that is already going somewhere. When you want it to close, one button lands a cadence on the next bar line.

AirPods are optional. With AirPods that support motion, looking up and down shifts the register and tilting your head opens the resonance — slow, gentle controls that shape the sound without ever triggering a note. The beat reaches you through the phone's haptics, not through an audible click.

Turn on Auto and Ariata plays a melody itself: a motif, an answer, a variation, a cadence. Play over it, or just listen.

Record what you play, as audio and as a video of the lattice lighting up under your fingers, or let Ariata export a piece of background music that ends properly — on a resolved cadence with a clean fade, never cut off mid-phrase. Share straight from the app; your recordings also sit in the Files app.

Five built-in moods set the key, tempo and tone, from a bright noon to Mozart's Adagio K. 356. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence you can also describe a mood in your own words — "the morning after rain" — and Ariata turns it into a preset, on the device, in a couple of seconds. Share a sound, or a looped phrase you played over it, as a link that opens the same instrument on a friend's phone.

The instrument is free, all of it. Ariata Pro adds what you make with it: takes and background music longer than 30 seconds, the harp, music box and felt timbres, your name in the video, presets from a mood, and the video options. Monthly or yearly with a free trial, or one payment for good.

No account. No ads. Your recordings stay on your phone unless you share them.

Requires iOS 26. Head control needs AirPods (3rd generation), AirPods Pro or AirPods Max. Mood generation needs an iPhone with Apple Intelligence; everything else works on every supported iPhone.
