## What is Arivame?

Arivāme is a home for the Kodava language, heritage and community — for the people of Kodagu and for the diaspora who grew up far from it.

Kodava Takk is spoken by only a few hundred thousand people and has no script of its own. Very little of it exists online. Arivāme is an attempt to change that.

TRANSLATE KODAVA TAKK
Type an English sentence and get it back in Kodava Takk — in Kannada script, in Latin transliteration, and in ISO 15919. Hear it read aloud. Most translation tools have never heard of this language; this one was built for it.

A DICTIONARY THAT WORKS OFFLINE
Over 12,000 Kodava words with meanings, examples and Kannada script, searchable in English or Kodava. The whole dictionary lives on your phone, so it works on the ghat roads where the signal doesn't.

ASK ABOUT KODAVA HERITAGE
Ask anything about Kodava history, festivals, clans or sacred groves and get an answer drawn from a library of historical sources — with the book and page it came from, so you can check it. What is Puthari? What is an ain mane? Who was Field Marshal Cariappa?

THE LIBRARY
Restored text from historical works on Kodagu, alongside articles written in plain modern language and cited back to their sources. Folk songs from the 1869 collection of Kodava Paat, with the original Kannada verse and a line-by-line romanisation.
