## What is AromaTraining?

AromaTraining helps you recover your sense of smell — at home, offline, at your own pace.

It is built on olfactory training (the Hummel protocol): each day you work with 6 scents through 4 mindful steps (look → inhale → memory → integration). Vivid photos, a breathing rhythm and memory cues keep the olfactory networks active even when the nose stays "silent". The method is widely used for smell loss and distortion after COVID-19 and other infections.

For parosmia (distorted smells) there is a dedicated differentiation mode that trains the brain to tell a real smell apart from the intrusive phantom image — with a difference scale and a recommended difficulty order.

• Standard mode and differentiation mode
• Sensation diary with PDF export for your doctor
• Smell self-assessment and weekly recovery stats
• Your own scents with a photo and a personal memory
• Breathing rhythm (vibration + sound), reminders
• Backup: move all your data to a new phone in one file
• Progress card, milestones and celebrations — consistency made motivating
• Fully offline: all data stays on your device, no sign-up
• 7 languages: EN · RU · DE · ES · FR · PT-BR · IT

Note: AromaTraining is a supportive rehabilitation tool, not a medical device and not a substitute for professional care. If you have a smell disorder, consult an ENT specialist.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.3.0 — 2026-08-27

• Scent set 2: jasmine, orange, cocoa, eucalyptus, rosemary and clove — the same six olfactory groups as the first set.
• The app prompts you when it is time to change the set: the protocol says every 12 weeks. You can switch between the sets at any time.
• If the app helps you, you can now say thanks to the developer. The app is free and stays free: this unlocks no features and disables nothing.
• The progress card you share now says where to find the app, so the people you send it to can start too.
• A proper launch screen instead of a blank one.

### 1.1.2 — 2026-08-14

• Every scent now shows the olfactory group it belongs to and what you can use instead if you don't have it at home — grapefruit for lemon, clove for cinnamon — with a note on how strong each substitute smells.
• The article on the Hummel protocol now explains why having four different groups matters more than the exact oils you use.
• Fixed a crash that could happen when restoring a large backup file.
• Wording and stability improvements throughout the app.
