### 4/5 — MelomethodicalPatternizationalogic!™

*2017-02-05*

A universal app that is a great iPhone Arpeggiator for single thumb programming. The iPad version is exactly the same scaled up and oriented for portrait use. Overall, it's a useful melody sketch sequencer that one can chain up to eight patterns of various lengths so you can keep it simple or make a complex melody. Each pattern can be set separately to a number of pattern types available e.g. As Played, Up/Down, Inward/Outward, Low Pedaltone Descending, Douple, Octuple, Follow Octave, Random, etc. Tempo relies on itself as a source using standard Midi Clock or can track timing from other sources. While MIDI as a timing source is good and reliable with no strange timing artifacts, it could use Alberton LINK so I wouldn't have to use another app like MIDI Link Sync.

### 4/5 — Understanding dawns

*2015-10-29, version 1.4*

For anyone who can't get a sound from this, it's because the app is purely a controller, without its own voices. Just load up a midi compatible synth, point this app at it, and bingo! Once I understood that, the app is actually quite innovative and fun. Possibly even useful to sonic dabblers, making IOS music. Okay, there's no AudioBus compatibility, but if you're controlling an app that is compatible, no problem. Using this method we can also record into a second or third app via AudioBus.

### 4/5 — Read description

*2015-02-20*

To the people complaining that the app does not produce sound, if you read the description it clearly says the app does not produce sound on its own; It has to be connected to a synth. It is not cool to leave a bad review of a product for not doing something that the description said it doesn't do. It's like giving a bad review for a CD player because you can't play a cassette on it (showing my age).

### 4/5 — Great arp...good work !

*2014-09-19*

I think some people need clarification that this app isn't meant to generate sound on its own

### 4/5 — Lots of potential!

*2014-06-18*

This app has great features and keeps getting better. Great support forum. Makes your synths sing!

### 5/5 — No sound

*2014-05-01*

Do u have to have headphones or something? I think it looks like an app i would like. If it had sound.

### 4/5 — Ignore the negative reviews

*2014-04-25*

This app clearly states it's a midi tool. Those complaining that it doesn't make sound are clearly amateurs who don't know what they're talking about. I'll give an actual review once I've spent some time with the app.

### 4/5 — It's a MIDI arp

*2014-04-24, version 1.1.2*

This app is an arpeggiator that uses MIDI. You have to run other audio apps through it to hear sound. So now it has a bunch of bad reviews because people are idiots and can't read. At least read the description before you post a neg review. It says it right there. F'n morons. I've lost all hope for humanity. Sigh.....

### 5/5 — Works Great!

*2014-04-02*

Don't expect this app to make any sounds on its own. It sends midi data to other synth apps you might have on your device.

### 5/5 — Excellent !

*2014-03-29, version 1.1.1*

This Arp is so good. I have most of the best arps on IOS and this is one of my favourite's. Midi clock sync is well implemented. The patterns this thing creates are great. I would like to see a basic synth added and then Audiobus support but this is a bargain.

### 1/5 — crashing - IOS9.0.2

*2015-10-13, version 1.3*

For me - and another iPhone 4s with 9.0.2 IOS, it’s currently crashing (works on first try after download - then crashes). I’ve tried soft and hard reset - still same. Re-synced phone and downloaded via iTunes on sync - still crashing… :(

### 1/5 — crap

*2015-01-24*

not making a sound

### 1/5 — One word

*2014-10-09, version 1.2*

Dependent

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2014-07-24, version 1.2*

It's a great app from the look and feel of the application but no sound comes from the app it's a waste of space at this point in time

### 1/5 — What?

*2014-06-16*

I used the app, but no sound is coming from my iPod.

### 1/5 — ???

*2014-04-17, version 1.1.2*

It looks cool but no sound!!!

### 3/5 — Probably great but crashes every time

*2015-09-22*

I'm excited to use this app at some point. The controls look like a lot of fun to use with some iOS synths or other stuff via MIDI. It doesn't get past the opening screen. Nothing responds. Just crashes after freezing for a few seconds right after it opens.

### 3/5 — No sound

*2014-08-12, version 1.2*

Uhg

### 3/5 — Confused

*2014-07-27*

Don't know how to use it. It would help to have a tutorial or something.

### 3/5 — Issues with network session

*2014-05-19*

I honestly don't know if it's an app problem or a me problem- but I had such large latency issues that it rendered itself absolutely useless. I was getting parts of midi signals sent to my computer, which led to a really unsuccessful Arp.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The best

*2019-06-30, version 1.4.2*

Very deep and very configurable app. Better and more flexible than an arpeggiator I could find in a synth. For those who make music or perform live with iOS apps

### 5/5 — Great app

*2018-09-15, version 1.4.2*

Only seems to work as a midi controller, which is fine with me, I love midi controllers, as long as there are enough synths, and there certainly are enough synths available for ios, maybe too many. Just kidding, there are never enough. Arpist is great but it seems to be forgotten in the fog of the ios rush of app production. I hope the developers make sure it keeps working going forward with all the IOS operating system updates. Arpist is so much fun. Yes, fun is all that matters, isn't it. Who complains when they are having Fun? Only crazy people. Nothing against crazy people, just saying.

### 5/5 — Very cool app

*2018-01-17*

Beautiful design, nice features. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2015-12-08*

One of the most versatile arpeggiators on iOS. Maybe the best on iPhone (as most are for iPad). Great UI as well. And can you believe it all the advanced features have gone free now! If you have MIDI synthesizers you got to have this.

### 5/5 — Great arpeggiator!

*2015-12-03*

Note to music novices-this is not supposed to make sound. You use it to connect to a DAW or hardware synth that may not have an arpeggiator feature. Also a no brainer for a free one with this many features.

### 5/5 — My one stop go to...

*2015-05-29*

One of my favorite midi arpeggiators. I find myself using it almost exclusively... Wonderfully easy to noodle on.

### 5/5 — Try reading the app description...

*2015-05-15*

It generates midi. It's sad to see a developer have a bad rating because people are either ignorant about midi and can't read a description, or maybe they thought their phone was special and would generate audio, even though it is clearly stated it doesn't.

### 5/5 — The answer to tiny iphone keyboards

*2014-12-14*

Great for synth and keyboard control.

### 5/5 — Best arp/sequencer for composed material

*2014-12-13*

Ive downloaded several sequencing arp apps but this ones great because it lets you link multiple sequencer progressions. Makes sequencing much more evocative. Ps... Its been said but needs to be said again. You must plug this into a device that can receive midi note input. For example, I use a this app with a Korg Ms-20 mini and its excellent.

### 5/5 — Do try it

*2014-06-16, version 1.2*

Marry it up with a synth like Animoog and you'll be delighted!
