App is harder and more confusing to use than before. You HAVE to know where the exact bus stops are you want to get on/off are, otherwise it’s impossible to plan your journey. Keeps suggesting longer routes for journeys. I was hoping this app would be a major improvement on the one before, it’s now somehow even WORSE. ### 2/5 — Logs you out randomly *2026-07-23, version 119* It has logged me out randomly 3 times, and you don’t notice until you get on the bus and try to get your ticket up. I asked the driver if I could just get on while I log back into my account and then scan my ticket once I’m logged in, but they refused and said I need to scan it before I get on. And I didn’t have time to be messing around with passwords and bad signal, so I had to buy another bus ticket even though I already had a 4weekly ticket on my account! Ridiculous. ### 4/5 — Mostly excellent *2026-07-12* After a number of iterations, this version is a great improvement on some of the older versions. I think the map is clear and the bus locations and direction easy to see. I find the interface intuitive and easy to navigate. Of course, not all is perfect! For some reason some of the buses I use (around Derby) are marked as Cancelled when they are not! Also the tracking isn't 100% as buses can appear and disappear from the map. Also, as someone else pointed out, if you tap on a bus on the map I would like to be taken to the bus stop list showing both where the bus is and where I am waiting. ### 1/5 — Non existent buses *2026-07-06, version 118* In some places, it will just completely lie about buses, and it’s not that the bus didn’t show up, it’s that if you check a different bus stop on the same route as the bus your looking for, it’ll have a completely new bus schedule for the same bus only a stop apart. Bring back old app ### 3/5 — Departures *2026-07-05, version 118* After the recent update, when I tap departures of bus 3 or 4 in Hemel Hempstead nothing happens. The next screens do not open!!! ### 1/5 — Using the No 7 bus *2026-07-05, version 118* If I’m going to Durham your app suggest I get a bus from my home DL5 4SZ to Durham. It suggests that instead of walking just a few yards from where I live.0.8 of a mile in the wrong direction for 16 minutes to get the bus from Brafferton Close, Woodham, instead of getting the bus at Woodham way 302 feet 40 seconds away. It’s the same coming from Darlington, the app and on line suggest that I get off the bus at Brafferton Close and walk 16 minutes to my home rather than 40 seconds. You. Need. To. Checkout. After. Every. Single. Ticket. Also, you can’t use multiple devices. Buy a ticket on your iPad, then log in on your phone to use the ticket it blocks you for 8 hours. ### 1/5 — Fix this *2026-06-26, version 117* Somehow worse than the previous app. Yes, the live tracking is better, but half the time you can’t even use the journey plan feature because there’s an error. It is an improvement over the previous version but, in many respects, it could be better. The app is essentially based on a generic version used by other bus companies: overcomplicated and difficult to navigate. I get the impression that the designers of these apps do not themselves travel by bus. Particularly frustrating is finding information about the lateness of a bus. In the old app, you could click on a particular bus icon and the details would be there. Now, there is only ticket information. You now have to jump from one screen to another to find the live status of a bus. ### 1/5 — So much worse that the old app *2026-06-25, version 117* Much more confusing to use and still doesn’t show tracking ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Cancelled *2026-08-20* I think the bus app would much more useful if it showed when services are cancelled or delayed similar to the Trainline app. There been several occasions where I’ve been left waiting at a bus stop over an hour with no information where or why the bus is not at the bus stop when it’s time is due in to the station. I think real time update or information when a bus is not going to be showing up would be much better than standing and waiting around. I think passengers can plan their journeys better if something like this was implemented into the app. ### 1/5 — Worst App ever *2026-07-28, version 119* Massive congratulations to Arriva, the last app was atrocious, this one is somehow even worse, a true feat of app engineering. Bus stops don’t appear, bus locations aren’t accurate, you have to restart the app several times to get basic bus information. Now, you have to know the specific bus stop that you want to leave/ arrive at to actually get the bus times. If you don’t know the area, it’s awful to find out where you’re going. ### 1/5 — Arriva Bus App clashes with Apple Pay Wallet *2026-07-15* I have reported this issue a few times now but no resolution has been forthcoming - the app will clash with my Apple Wallet App when trying to scan my M-ticket on some of Arriva buses. I have been told by Arriva “Turning off the NFC settings would help this stop happening, as it isn't something we can do to stop it from happening, as the NFC is built into the firmware of your mobile device”, whereas everyone knows it’s not possible to turn off NFC on an iPhone. It needs sorting out - the developer ought to request “Suppress Apple Wallet” certificate from Apple to prevent this clash from occurring. ### 1/5 — Waste *2026-07-13, version 118* Wasted my time downloading this app. Doesn’t work. The Ui on this barely work and the tacking for the busses doesn’t work so you can’t tell if a buss was early or running late because the times are also wrong 90% of the time.
