## What is Arrow Optimizer?

Arrow Optimizer turns your practice into data. Log every end, and the app tells you which arrows are actually costing you points, how your sight really moves, and where your equipment needs tuning — no spreadsheets, no guesswork.

ARROW OPTIMIZATION
Record each arrow's impact by tapping a target photo or entering shots digitally. Every session tracks real vs. predicted score, group size (σx/σy), and World Archery line-cutter scoring that accounts for your exact shaft diameter. Pro tools go further: Quiver Dispersion Tuning shows which named arrows are shooting loose, Arrow Ballistics Data breaks down each shaft's own bias, and the Combination Analyzer tests every possible subset of your quiver to find your tightest, highest-scoring group.

CROSS-SESSION POOLING
A single session rarely has enough arrows per shaft to trust the numbers. Pool the same named arrow's shots across every session you've logged for a far larger sample, or run an A/B comparison to see whether a new rest or shaft change actually helped — or was just noise.

SIGHT CALIBRATION
Find your sight's real mm-per-click ratio by shooting a base group, dialing in a known adjustment, and shooting an adjusted group. Every calibration — and every regular practice end where you log a click change — sharpens one shared, ever-improving ratio per distance. A built-in virtual target shows the suggested correction visually.

SIGHT MARKS & PREDICTION
Save your elevation and windage settings at each distance you shoot, then let the predictor interpolate a starting sight mark for any distance you haven't logged yet.

PLUNGER TUNING
Sweep plunger tension in steps around your base setting, log a group at each one, and see which tension gives the tightest, best-centered result.

EQUIPMENT SETS
Save named bow/arrow configurations — arrow type, limb, riser, bow weight, plunger, brace height, tiller, arrow diameter, sight hardware — and tag every session, sight mark, and calibration with the exact rig you shot. Switch between an indoor and outdoor setup, or two different bows, without losing track of which sight settings belong to which.

PROGRESS
Watch your practice volume, group tightness, and round scores trend over time, across every distance you shoot.

YOUR DATA, YOUR CONTROL
Back up every session, calibration, target photo, and equipment set to iCloud Drive or your device, and restore it anytime. Available in English, German, Ukrainian, Spanish, Korean, Turkish, Portuguese, Russian, and French.

Free to log sessions, calibrate your sight, and track sight marks. Unlock Pro for the full optimization engine: Quiver Dispersion Tuning, Arrow Ballistics Data, the Combination Analyzer, and cross-session A/B comparison — the tools that find the fraction of a millimeter separating placings at competitive levels.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.4.0 — 2026-09-08

Target calibration is now faster and smarter:

• Auto-save when everything checks out — if your target photo is clean and every marker lines up, ArrowOptimizer saves it automatically. No more tapping through screens that have nothing left to fix.

• Smarter center detection — the app now cross-checks multiple rings on your target photo instead of relying on just one, so alignment stays accurate even with a shot near the middle or a slightly angled photo.

• Better accuracy on half-face (6-ring) targets — marker placement now follows a more reliable printed border, reducing distortion in the outer rings.

• Straight to arrow entry — after saving a calibrated target, you're taken directly into shot entry instead of back to your session list.

• Only flags what actually needs a look — if a few markers can't be auto-confirmed, only those are highlighted for you to adjust, instead of asking you to re-check all 16.

Smoother, more automatic target processing so you can spend less time on setup and more time shooting.

### 2.3.4 — 2026-09-03

Deeper Equipment Profiles
Equipment Sets now capture your full setup, recurve or compound. Recurve: riser & limb size, limb draw weight, brace height, tiller, nock height, clicker, and rest. Compound: brand, model, axle-to-axle, draw weight, cam, let-off, and brace height. Both bow types now track a full stabilizer setup — long rod length/weight, V-bar angle, and side rod length/weight.

Arrows get their own structured fields: brand, model, spine, length, balance point, point weight, and total weight — with Front of Center calculated automatically as you enter them. Your sight setup now includes a model field, and bowstrings are tracked too (brand, length, strand count).

X-Ring Scoring for Indoor Rounds
18m sessions can now use the scoring system your tournament actually shoots:
• WA — recurve scores the whole 10-ring as 10; compound scores only the X ring as 10, with the rest of the 10-ring at 9
• Vegas — X and the rest of the 10-ring both score 10, same for every bow
• Lancaster — the X ring scores 11, same for every bow

X-ring hits now show as "X" instead of "10" everywhere a score appears, including live while you're annotating an end.

Round Totals on the Scorecard
The Digital Scorecard now opens with a Round Totals box showing your X count, 10 count, 9 count, and average score per arrow for the whole session — no more counting by hand.

 Fixes & Polish
• Deleting an end no longer leaves a gap in the numbering (e.g. End #1, End #3) — remaining ends renumber automatically so they always read 1, 2, 3…
• Sight Manufacturer now appears above Sight Model in Equipment setup, matching the order you'd actually fill it in

As always, thanks for shooting with the app — keep the feedback coming.

### 2.3.0 — 2026-08-29

New: Equipment Sets
Save named bow/arrow setups — arrow type, limb, riser, weight, plunger, brace height, tiller — and use one as the Equipment ID on any Sight Mark, session, or sight calibration.

Sight hardware, per rig
Arrow diameter, sight manufacturer, clicks-per-rev, and eye-to-sight-pin distance now live on each Equipment Set instead of one global default, so switching bows switches your sight math too.

Smarter Sight Calibration
Logging sight clicks during a normal practice session now creates a calibration record for that distance automatically, so you can review your real vs. theoretical mm-per-click without running the full calibration flow.

Also in this update
- New sessions and sight calibrations now require an Equipment ID, so every record stays tied to the exact gear you shot.
- Filter sessions, sight marks, and cross-session pools by Equipment ID.
- Session names are now editable right from the session detail screen.
- The Equipment Set editor has built-in help and clearer field labels.
- Stability fixes.

### 2.2.3 — 2026-08-25

Smarter tuning, clearer feedback, and a more polished experience across the board.

RING SCORE, EVERYWHERE
Your group's dispersion (how tight your shots cluster) now shows as a "Ring N" badge right next to the numbers — see instantly what your consistency would actually score on a World Archery target. Now in Session Results, Arrow Ballistics, Pattern Analytics, and Cross-Session views.

NEW: PATTERN ANALYTICS
A dedicated screen for your shot pattern — a visual dispersion graph, 1-sigma/2-sigma/3-sigma consistency zones showing what percentage of your shots land where, and plain-language diagnostics (e.g. "vertical spread suggests inconsistent draw length").

AUTOMATIC SIGHT CALIBRATION (Pro)
Every practice end can now quietly become calibration data. After finishing an end, optionally log the clicks you dialed in — the app blends that into an increasingly accurate real-world mm-per-click model for your sight, no separate calibration session required.

IN-APP HELP, RIGHT WHERE YOU NEED IT
- A guided walkthrough for running an Optimization session, built into the session screen.
- New info buttons next to technical terms — spread (sigma-x/sigma-y), Ring N, MPI, and Plunger tuning — each with a one-tap, plain-English explanation. No more guessing what the numbers mean.

RELIABILITY IMPROVEMENTS
- Save failures are no longer silent — you'll now see a clear message if a session, round, or shot fails to save.
- Fixed a bug where cross-session arrow ballistics could be calculated inconsistently; the underlying dispersion math is now shared everywhere it's used.
- Faster calibration lookups for sessions with a lot of history.

POLISH
- Consistent card styling across empty states.
- General cleanup and stability fixes under the hood.
