### 3/5 — iPad need work

*2026-02-23, version 2.1.25*

iPad could use some more work. Needs to rotate with full view, at the rotation. Currently you have to till your head to see it correctly. If you rotate the iPad, you get a bad resolution.

### 4/5 — Sería la respeta

*2025-06-23, version 2.1.19*

Si estuviese en español

### 4/5 — Doesn’t stay connected to camera

*2025-04-12, version 2.1.17*

This thing takes one shot, and loses connection to camera or locks up. Focus stack, gets one pic then locks up and loses connection to camera. I will try a different cable, someone else said their cables are junk. We shall see.
Update: I finally got it to connect and stay connected, but only if both camera and arsenal have charged batteries. I had 25% charge on camera, but a fresh battery in and it worked great. But that means holy grail timelapse may suffer on long timelapse shots.

### 2/5 — Good idea, terrible execution

*2024-12-28, version 2.1.4*

It crashes way too often. Also it doesn’t support my new camera canon r5 I. I contacted customer support for update she just give you lukewarm response saying we are working on it without any concrete timeline. This thing has become an expensive brick

### 4/5 — It does what it suppose to do …

*2024-12-13, version 2.1.4*

I own both the Arsenal 1 & 2 and I am not that disappointed with either product. With that being said, I’m still hoping for a true iPad version of this app. I find the “real estate,” aka the image of this app on my iPad to be too small for my liking, which in turn limits the use of this device to only special occasions, which doesn’t occur very often.

### 3/5 — Seem OK

*2024-06-08, version 2.0.73*

Not much help in explaining how to use it. I am finding that I have to scour the Internet to find out how to use the features.

### 4/5 — Great app but a little buggy at times

*2024-06-04, version 2.0.73*

Sometimes locks up and have to restart but overall it’s a great app

### 2/5 — Buggy

*2024-05-12, version 2.0.73*

Great promise but hella buggy. A disappointment so far.

### 3/5 — I want to love Arsenal 2…

*2024-05-08, version 2.0.73*

…but I only like it. Hardware is solid. Functionality is decent (there are quirks), but the reason I only give it 3 stars is because on my Canon EOS R5, I use the Canon app to connect my phone to the camera to provide GPS data (I love geotagging my photos). When using Arsenal 2 Pro, I can’t get the GPS data. It’s actually quicker to do some post edits in Lightroom and get comparable photos to what Arsenal will produce, than it is to manually add in GPS metadata to the photos. Arsenal, please either add GPS data or allow it from 3rd party apps.

### 2/5 — Error Loading Pano

*2024-02-17, version 2.0.71*

Overall it’s ok. I decided to get it thinking it would help with the editing time. However, very often an annoying “error loading pano” message keeps calming on, locking the App, when I’m trying to upload panoramic files. I need to either leave the app or delete and reinstall completely to get it working again. Not sure if the team is aware of it.

### 2/5 — Not functional.

*2023-08-30, version 2.0.42*

The app is not very user friendly. Night mode turns off my camera every time it is trying to “star focus”. The app will crash and you lose the photos that use any of the stacking features to the arsenal, unless you use a micro SD I assume.

### 3/5 — Idiomas

*2023-05-17, version 2.0.35*

Sería una app buenísima si tuviera la opción de elegir idioma, en concreto español. Por favor, actualícenlo!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Do not buy

*2026-02-15, version 2.1.25*

The program is not user-friendly and I wouldn’t not recommend anybody to buy it

### 1/5 — It just doesn’t work.

*2024-12-26, version 2.1.4*

The promise is great. And once in a while it’ll pull off a great shot. But that’s at the expense of mass frustration during which I could have captured many pictures myself and done better in post-processing. The one feature I really wanted to work (pseudo-long exposure) remains totally unusable despite multiple support tickets, sample submissions and even video of it misbehaving going back over a year. Bottom line, save your money. Use traditional techniques.

Update Jan ‘24. Long exposure mode still non-functional.

Update Dec ‘24. Long exposure mode still borked.

### 1/5 — Non functional

*2024-02-13, version 2.0.71*

I had the original Arsenal for my Nikon D5300 and loved it. I finally upgraded to a full frame camera (Sony A7R iii) right around the same time Arsenal 2 was announced. I bought the pro version thinking it would be even better than the original. So far it hasn’t worked for a single picture. No matter what mode I try to shoot in, the app never finishes processing the final image. I’ve double and triple checked all settings, following the camera specific instructions every time. Really sad to see a product I liked so much completely ruined by the “upgraded” version.

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear you had trouble with Long Exposure Stacking. We just released an update to the app and firmware. Please try out the latest version at your convenience and email help@witharsenal.com if you're still having any issues. We're happy to help!

### 1/5 — Inutilisable

*2023-09-19, version 2.0.42*

### 1/5 — Will not connect

*2023-08-11*

Waited over a month to get. Showed up today connected one time to IPhone and now unable to join. Reinstalled app, reset, followed all troubleshooting but fails to connect.

### 1/5 — Still not compatible

*2023-08-02, version 2.0.42*

I bought the pro version and still not using it .. coz they didn’t made it compatible with sony a7R 5 as they promised when I bought it

### 1/5 — False Expectations and Changing Timelines

*2023-07-05, version 2.0.35*

If you have a newer, don’t count on support for a very long time. The website shows that the Canon R6 mark 2 is supported by the Arsenal 2 Pro decide but once hooked up to the camera, the app says the device doesn’t support the Canon R6 mark 2. Very disappointing as it seems based on reviews online this company is known to very delayed on anything they say. Save the money and don’t bother with this device.

### 1/5 — Do not trust the cables you order from them

*2023-07-02, version 2.0.35*

The cables from Arsenal are absolute terrible quality and WILL stop working at the most inopportune time. 6 hour drive north, several thousand dollars of camera equipment, and TWICE the terrible cable (from the Arsenal and Arsenal 2) has stopped functioning. Buy a different cable before you go somewhere far away. I will not be buying a 3 when it comes out, and will be doing things manually.

### 5/5 — A new lease on life for my R8 thanks to Arsenal.

*2025-11-12, version 2.1.25*

I had pretty much relegated my Canon R8 to the camera bag save for special occasions. For pretty much everything, my iPhone sufficed. I have a decent setup, highlighted by a Canon 200-800 lens. To say it is fiddly would be an understatement and it is work to get an image out of it. Then I discovered Arsenal Pro 2 and the Arsenal 2 software that turns my phone and R8 into, for me, a camera saver. Out of the box, I did a walkabout in my Old Town neighborhood. Then, just for kicks, I tried it with my 200-800. While I still have somewhat of a learning curve setting up native camera settings to optimize the images, I was literally able to get the package to perform like never before. The Arsenal works best when paired with this software and my iPhone, but there is a handheld mode that allows you to run sans phone…which for my walkabout - or for daily use - is perfect. Have not tried any of the stacking features next…but to this point, Arsenal has given my R8 a new lease on life…imagine if your iPhone camera was…a better camera. That is exactly what the Arsenal Pro 2 turns your mirrorless or DSLR camera into. Bravo. Keep up the good work.

### 5/5 — First Outdoor Shot

*2025-03-15, version 2.1.17*

First time using it outside after just receiving it a week ago and it froze. Blue light showed power was on but couldn’t turn it off. Would not connect to app even though it found the WiFi name. I was able to get 1 photo and then it froze. No 10 second hold on button, no WiFi. App completely froze too. I reached out to their support and will update when I hear back. Update—— recent shooting everything worked for the entire time and results were great!!!

### 5/5 — Wonderful controller and app

*2024-04-08, version 2.0.73*

Just used it for the eclipse. Very helpful for settings and viewing the results

### 5/5 — An exceptional product

*2024-03-07, version 2.0.73*

I had the original arsenal and now have upgraded to the Arsenal 2 pro. The original product helped my photography tremendously and there are major improvements in the new model. The service has been outstanding with very rapid delivery and when I had one question it was answered in less than eight hours. This is a product that any photographer looking for help and improving their pictures should consider seriously.

### 5/5 — Works Exactly as Described, Highly Recommend

*2024-01-03, version 2.0.47*

So I went out and purchased a Sony A7rV, a Gmaster prime lens and take pictures and they all look terrible? What am I doing wrong??? I don’t have an Arsenal!!! Immediate results, focused, clear, perfect shots right out of the box and I haven’t even really spent much time with it? I am absolutely impressed right out the gate and can’t wait to spend more time with Arsenal !! I would highly recommend this for anyone that’s new to the camera world and just needs help, I still don’t know the basics but this really helped me

A few more days with it,

I like that it sends the files to an external source, essentially doubling your camera capacity,

Images are editable on the fly, and you can send them directly to your cell phone for review

### 5/5 — Works Exactly as Described, Highly Recommend

### 5/5 — Love the Arsenal 2

*2023-08-22, version 2.0.42*

Using the Arsenal 2 has been great! Allows me to focus on the wildlife subject and not worry about the settings.

### 5/5 — For now a 5 star review

*2023-07-31, version 2.0.39*

Overall I love the device it’s small, easy to setup kinda, yesterday when I was doing a photo shoot only half the files saved properly for deep color, thankfully I don’t rely on that as my only method for good shots but still somewhat disappointing, the only other disappointing thing is if I have live view on it’s about 1 second delayed to my camera, overall once I get to know the features more and use it more I will like it more, the pics I’ve used in deep color are dramatically better in every way, I haven’t tried many other modes yet but I’m excited to

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2022-10-14, version 2.0.33*

This project is very cool! I tried to use a friend's arsenal, now I have ordered my own to Serbia. I hope it gets there quickly!
Removing people from photos is an awesome feature - it saves a lot of time in Photoshop. Exposure bracketing mode takes amazing photos, especially at sunrise and sunset!
I wish the project speedy development and wide success. You've made a cool awesome thing! :)

### 5/5 — Support is great!

*2022-07-26, version 2.0.33*

This device has helped me to rediscover my love for creative photography. I took it on a trip to various national parks and really enjoyed my experience!

Unlike various other Kickstarter projects that I’ve backed over the years, my support experience with Arsenal was truly outstanding. Carol from their Helpdesk responded very quickly to my request with helpful questions instead of forms and excuses. When I eventually had to send my hardware in for evaluation, I was shipped a replacement very quickly.
