## What is Arshes?

Arshes is a camera app — and a platform where users create and publish effects and filters.

Effects are shader programs written in Slang, transforming your camera feed in real time with total freedom.
Filters are presets of familiar color grading parameters: exposure, white balance, contrast, and more.

Combine effects and filters published by other users, and capture photos and videos of every kind.

FEATURES

• Community Effects & Filters — Browse and use effects and filters published by other users, and favorite the ones you love.
• Live Effect Camera — Apply effects and filters to your camera feed in real time, and capture photos and videos with the look baked in.
• Create Effects — Write your own effects in the Slang shader language right on your device, with live camera preview.
• Create Filters — Build your own color grades: exposure, white balance, contrast, HSL color mixer, and more.
• Publish — Put your effects and filters out there for everyone to shoot with.
• Gallery — Browse and manage captured photos and videos, with effect parameters saved and restorable.
• Remote Editor — Edit effect code from your computer using "arshes-cli".
• Widgets — Quick access from your home screen.
• Camera tools — Tap to focus, manual white balance, grid, level, and histogram. Display P3 and HEIF support.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.20.0 — 2026-10-07

New Features
- Japanese language: Arshes now shows its UI in English or Japanese, following your device language
- Remote Editor: Duplicate a server from the "…" menu in the server list. You can now register multiple servers with the same address

Improvements
- Updated the shader compiler to Slang v2026.19
- Refined spacing and colors across the app

Bug Fixes
- Fixed AR effects drifting from the camera image when digital zoom is not 1x

Breaking Changes
- invViewMatrix and invProjectionMatrix are now passed in row order. Transform vectors with mul(matrix, vector); shaders that used mul(vector, matrix) need to be updated.
- The Editor Settings screen has been removed. Code is now shown in the app's fixed theme colors, and custom code colors are no longer applied.

### 1.19.0 — 2026-09-30

* Clarified the descriptions of time, resolution, and depthTex in the shader reference

Bug Fixes
* Fixed pure white and highlights rendering slightly darker than intended in filters with color grading
