My kids and wife love using the Pencil and this app, and we've all spent a good amount of time doodling, smudging and scrubbing away at the screen - often with some pleasingly convincing results. But on the iPad Pro I am sad to report that it is a buggy mess. The app routinely crashes when you simply switch to it. It will regularly leave you staring at a spinning wheel while presumably doing something very complex and important in the background. Opening old documents randomly gives write errors where the image in question is left in some weird limbo where the only thing you can do is delete it. Worse still is the confusing "Could not open: Could not close the currently open document" modal errors which cannot be dismissed (or, rather, you *can* dismiss them, only for them to immediately reappear). No, sorry, I'm not paying to unlock this. It would also be nice if every thing that you advertise was from THIS app and not from the more expensive version. If this was a free version of the other app I would be perfectly happy, but I paid, I expect EVERYTHING that's advertised. ### 4/5 — When You delete something, the app saves it *2016-08-28, version 2.1* I tried to draw something but it ended up looking like the F word, so I wanted to delete it. A day later I logged back in and it was still there. I had to delete the app and buy it again ### 3/5 — apple itunes bug *2016-08-27, version 2.1* Due to a known apple itunes bug, I am unable to consistently download to install your app update. I have been waiting 6 weeks for a fix from Apple. Thought you should be aware of Apple hindering your hard work. ==== Developer, Subscription model: I don’t like over paying for an app over and over again. I don’t want to spend 50.00 a month (for 20 apps) to use needed apps. My budget will not allow it. Basically I will be "buying" an app for big bucks over time instead of a reasonable fee one time fee which I could save up or stagger buying over time. Many app store users are on limited income/SSI/SNAP. Allow me to prepay a year or still offer a one time cost for several years at a reasonable price. If you lock out my already paid for App; I will fight you. There are very many mediums you can use, including oils (love the way you load the brush! But I would like a couple (or a variety) of artists knifes, that would be cool. Love the blenders that work not just with the pencils, but with the oils and pastels as well. I would like more 'B's' pencils for people who draw.up to B9 and also a graphite would be great. I would like to see more mediums,like, white mixed with a medium so that people using oil can do wet on wet. Bob Ross calls his liquid white. I would also like tracing paper (but not layers, they are too technical and people off). Although there are lots of colours, could we have lots more please? Like Cadmium yellow and red, Prussian blue, and a larger selection of brushes that could be used with water colours to wide 1" brush to use for landscape oh fan brushes and different soft and hard brushes, very important to do petals and rocks. Perhaps a choice of colours of papers. And another idea I was thinking could you have a metal embossing section, where you could use embossing tools on pewter or copper and cut them out, to place them? Hey I love what you do, I wish I worked with you, could do with the dosh right now. But got stage 4 Inflammatory Breast Cancer so I think I'm on my way out however, not without passing some great ideas of further developing your amazing app. If I can help in any, I would love that. Any chance this can be rectified so I can purchase Art Set 4 instead. ### 1/5 — Original Advanced App Was Grreat *2022-02-21, version 2.61* Just when I thought digital art couldn’t get more complicated, these guys exceeded any expectations with their upgraded app that replaced ArtSet 4…they could have left well enough alone, but nooooo, they had to turn artistic creation into a thrill ride inside some programmers’ minds. Just return the ArtSet 4! ### 1/5 — I want a refund. *2021-10-18, version 2.61* I got this app expecting it to at least be semi decent since you have to pay for it, but boy was I wrong. There is only a few different brushes you can use and barely any colours. There’s not even a layer button. It’s also super glitchy with my Apple Pencil and the pencil brush straight up doesn’t work with it. Idk why these reviews are all good but please, save the money. Also, if you’re looking for a good app, Procreate is a few more dollars but it’s definitely worth it. Coming from procreate to this app just feels like a joke. ### 1/5 — Not Happy - Looks Good But Doesn’t Deliver *2020-09-12, version 2.61* Not sure if its the iPad Pro causing the problem but nothing seems to work as expected. First and foremost cannot get out of portrait so as a landscape artist it is a non runner. That doesn’t sound like a long time but since I am very young and don’t have a lot of money , I have searched for and downloaded many different art and animation related apps and by far I think this is the worst one I have ever used. My school had me download this app since it was supposed to be good and cheap. It was and still is horrible. I got marks taken off me because I used another FREE and BETTER app, but at that point I didn’t care there where so many functions that this app failed to have. And for a person that was used to better quality apps. I couldn’t create good art with it. Here are some basic digital art functions that this app lacks: -layers -brushes and materials(there where only 13 brushes and materials combined -opacity of brushes and materials -sizes of brushes and materials -flat coloured background/canvases -colour -layering colours I had attempted to layer colours but without having any control over the opacity of the tools the colour I had tried to layer on top completely covered the flat colouring on the bottom. For colour I was very disappointed there where limited amount of colours and only 4 or 5 realistic human skin colours, most of those colours where darker ones too and the lightest skin colour named Tan was too dark as well. I like to layer my skin colours with lighter ones to make the skin colour I’m looking for so when I didn’t find any light colours or couldn’t layer them I had no choice but to use Tan. The colour choices also lack lighter or pastel colours and the lightest pink I could find was a hot pink. I like adding life and colour to the faces I draw by adding a lighter pink or coral colour on the cheeks and nose of the faces and since again I didn’t have control over the opacity and my only light pink was a hot pink, I didn’t add that step. I didn’t realise that there were other tools under the top 8 tools until I finished my third artwork and forgot about them in the making of my other artworks on this app. By “flat coloured background” I mean that most if not all of the canvases are textured and coloured and I understand that that is some people's preference but it would have been great if there where flat ones. Here is what I think you should improve on the app: -colour wheel / more colours -more materials and brushes -flat canvases -make it free because it’s a waste of money if you don’t improve. I have used at least 5 free apps that are better quality than this. ### 1/5 — Why can’t I transfer my work to my photos *2019-12-10, version 2.61* The app won’t transfer my work to photographs ...tried using settings but still wont save .....waste of time and effort ### 1/5 — waste of money *2019-03-20, version 2.61* the only reason why i got this app was because the school required us to but other than that this is the most horrible art app. when u try and erase something the only option is one eraser which doesn’t even rub out properly but more like white paint covering it and it’s very obvious. and the Easter is very thin so it takes very long to rub out things and there’s no control area to change the thickness. 😑 ### 1/5 — DO NOT GET *2018-03-20, version 2.4* there are limited tools and you can’t even do layers. there is only one very pale skin tone in which they named ‘tan’. it’s VERY frustrating to use. you can get free apps that are professional, i suggest ‘paper’, ‘sketchbook’ or ‘adobe draw’. I’ve been playing with Art my whole life, and that’s been a long time. What I love about Art Set is the simplicity. Sometimes you get an idea, and you want to paint, draw, it up quick. THERE IS NO OTHER APP LIKE THIS. I love that there is a realistic picture of a all your art tools. The pastel works like a real pastel. They have everything you need. Oil paint, colored pencils.pastels, ink. What is so awesome about art set is it’s simple it doesn’t have hundreds of different brushes you don’t need to.
