### 2/5 — Subscriptions?… seriously??…

*2026-06-22, version 8.5.0*

So. This app a few years ago was thirty dollars. Them. To upgrade it. Was another thirty dollars. Now… it’s becoming subscription based?… This is getting deleted. Cadrage is a much better app. And a one time purchase.

### 5/5 — Been using it for years now

*2026-04-18, version 8.3.6*

Had some hiccups along the way, but it’s been pretty solid for a while now. Use it on every tech scout.

### 5/5 — Amazing app, just a few tweaks would be nice

*2026-04-10*

I've been using this for every short and even casual everyday photography, it's super percise and clean! I just hope that the guides can be constrained in the aspect ratio i chose, and this would be perfect.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your feedback.

We'll look at the Framing Guides again to see if we can conform them to the chosen aspect ratio. I'm sure that possible.

If you need any other help, contact us at support@chemicalwedding.tv

### 5/5 — Very useful app with fantastic support.

*2026-03-22, version 8.3.4*

My friend who’s a cinematographer recommended this app and I have to say it’s pretty easy to use even if you’re not a professional. Really helps setting up and framing shots for YouTube videos. And the support from the developer is the best I’ve ever received.

### 5/5 — Great App and Support

*2026-03-20*

I just ran into a problem,
I contacted support, and they called me back the same day. The problem is solved—that’s great!

**Developer response:** No problem!! We are here to help and will get back to you within 12 hours of an enquiry.

Thanks for your support.

### 5/5 — Very good

*2026-02-25, version 8.2.0*

Everything is very cool, especially the viewing angle for framing, I own a Nikon ZR camera and I really want you to add it in future updates

### 3/5 — Nikon ZR not updated

*2026-02-20*

Please add soon.

**Developer response:** Artemis has the capability of adding any camera via the Custom Camera function. If you email us at support@chemicalwedding.tv we can help you do this. Once we have verified data for the Nikon ZR camera we can add it. In fact we use results from Custom Camera input in our verification process.

I'm adding the ZR today.

### 2/5 — App Doesn’t Work

*2025-12-16, version 7.26*

I purchased this app in the bundle with Helios. It used to work fine ( a little slow between shots), but it hasn’t worked since I upgraded my OS to the latest versions. I open it, and it just closes out before it opens, every time.

### 4/5 — Updated database ?

*2025-12-01*

When do you think you’re database will be updated ? For exemple, the new Nikon Zr is missing from the app. Thank you by advance, great app.

**Developer response:** Kazookiddd

### 5/5 — DOP

*2025-11-18, version 7.26*

Necessary tool for filmmaking
thank you !

### 3/5 — Fov number doesn’t change when aspect ratio frameline changed

*2025-11-15*

It will be good if the fov number changes accordingly based on the aspect ratio frameline change

**Developer response:** Many thanks for your note. Could. you send me a quick email: nic@chemicalwedding.tv

Many thanks in hope

### 2/5 — Could be the gold standard

*2025-11-13*

I love this app, but it’s constantly has issues that really have no excuse existing in this day and age. Taking pictures with the viewfinder is insanely slow. The app needs 4 seconds between snapping a photo, or often doesn’t register photo button at all.

If the photos in the album exceed 80 photos, review photos just falls apart entirely. Pictures you’ve taken won’t save, or previous photos won’t appear at all. It just crashes and can’t handle it. Why is this an issue on an iPhone 15 Pro in 2025? Especially when I’m on set and need to pull up a reference that is no longer even viewable. It’s this reason that I’ve switched to Cadrage where none of these issues exist.

**Developer response:** Keen for you to try the new updates. Do you like the faster lens switching?

### 5/5 — Artemis

*2025-09-11*

Great App. Great support ! Absolutely perfect !

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Bugs / missing photos

*2025-12-16, version 7.26*

Extremely disappointing. The app is full of bugs and runs painfully slow even on the newest iPhone. Photos are missing and don’t appear either in the iPhone library or inside the Artemis app. It used to be reliable, but the quality has clearly gone downhill. At this point, I’m switching to Cadrage.

### 1/5 — La aplicación no abre

*2025-11-17, version 7.26*

La tengo instalada en mi iPhone 16 pro. Estoy en rodaje y la aplicación se cerró. Cada vez que intento volver a acceder a ella se cierra. Ya reinicie el celular y sigue sin dejarme entrar

### 1/5 — Warning! This app does not function unless you give them full access to your photo library

*2025-11-14*

Until this is updated to allow app function with only limited access (which would still allow them to save photos to your phone) this review will remain up.

It’s incredibly condescending to have some cutesy message saying ‘We promise not to tell anyone what we find there…’
How about you piss off my personal data and function like the app I paid real money for.

**Developer response:** This is not true.

In order to save images to the Apple Photo app, which is the purpose ofma camera app, Artemis has to get permission to access the Photo library. This is a requirement for permission that Apple introduced due to new government regulations.

This is simply what this is. Nothing more.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-11-13, version 7.26*

Keeps crashing with all me scout images

### 1/5 — UX가 정말 개판

*2025-10-03*

너무 불편하고 개선도 안하고

**Developer response:** nic@chemicalwedding.tv로 이메일을 보내주시겠어요?
문제점을 이해합니다.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work without FULL access to your photo library.

*2025-08-16*

Doesn't work without FULL access to your photo library at all. Meaning if you do not give full read and write permissions to your full photo library it does not even start but says:

"PHOTO LIBRARY
We also need access to the Photo Library. We promise not to tell anyone what we find there.
In fact, we wont even look. We'll just save photos there."

**Developer response:** This is not the case.

We do not have access to the Photo Library. You need to give Artemis access to the Photo Library if you want to save images and videos or share them via email or text.

### 1/5 — Nope for IPhone 16 Pro Max

*2024-10-15, version 7.18*

The app was great until I upgraded to a new iPhone 16 Pro Max and now it immediately crashes and will not open

### 1/5 — Used to be my go to choice for scouting

*2024-09-15, version 7.16*

But the excessive functions have made this app literally impossible to use when i need to get a frame quickly.

I will be switching to cardage

### 1/5 — Cadrage is 100 times better

*2024-05-29*

Don’t waste your money on this overpriced app. Cadrage is so much better because it’s easier to use and has a nice simple UI. This app is worthless to me.

UPDATE: No Nic, I have no interest contacting you. I changed my review to correct the price I listed. Thanks for letting me know about that. You also addressed several other issues I mentioned in my review, but oddly, you did not address the fact that Cadrage is so much better.

USERS: Do a search of Artemis reviews before buying and you’ll see that the majority of people agree that Artemis is bloated and difficult to use, and has LUTs that are comical and tacky. Save yourself the frustration of trying to use this app and get the better one.

**Developer response:** jmmem7304

Very happy that Cadrage works for you. It is clear that you have no use for the higher function of Artemis. Though attacking us like this online is quite disrespectful.

### 1/5 — Pictures were deleted or went offline.

*2024-05-14, version 7.14*

Every picture I took was deleted or went offline and I can not recover them.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — very useful app

*2026-08-27*

It’s very useful on location, scouting and pre-production work fantastic app

### 5/5 — Artemis DV is a must have for people in the film business

*2026-08-21*

My iPhone with DV is the only tool I take will h me on a location tour

### 5/5 — Worth Every Penny for Working Professionals

*2026-08-20*

Every time I open this app, I discover some new functionality that just works exactly the way I need it to.

The upfront cost is more than most apps you’d find here, but if you are a working photographer, cinematographer, or other production professional, this app can easily pay for itself the first time you use it. It is incredibly well thought out, feature packed, and clearly designed by people who understand what actually happens in the field.

What impresses me most is that there always seems to be some little capability I did not even realize was there until I need it. I am in the middle of a location scout as I write this, and once again I discovered a feature that immediately solved a problem and made the scout more useful.

Artemis has become one of those professional tools that has earned its place in the kit. It is exceptionally capable, thoughtfully designed, and absolutely worth the investment.

### 5/5 — Our best in set tool

*2026-08-01*

When Artemis first debuted it didn’t take long for us to mostly shed every other old style and cumbersome finder - be they lens-on or the viewfinder type. Working as we do with minimum 3 cameras, and often more on Landman and Lioness, the time savings are significant given we do in the order of 60+ set ups a day. The fact my operators, the director, myself and indeed every crew member has a viewfinder in their pocket and can immediately see what we are aiming for is a godsend on set and invaluable in prep. I now have the art and location departments using them for previs and scouting. And it just keeps getting better.
5 Stars !!!

**Developer response:** Thanks you so much for your support. It really means so much to us.

### 5/5 — Support about the brand new UVC feature.

*2026-07-27*

I tested the app’s support for the new UVC feature (for external camera monitoring), which is available in the latest version of the app.

I was able to test this feature on my iPhone because the option was available during the first few days after the update. I did a quick test with a Nikon ZR that I rented for the occasion, and I really liked the feature.

Since the feature disappeared after a few days, I contacted support, who did two things: first, they helped me understand what had happened with the extension, and second, their service was very efficient and quick.

As a buyer of the version since 2023, I’m glad that it works well in every aspect, whether during use or when dealing with an issue.

I’m looking forward to seeing this feature available again on the iPhone app; I find the format much more interesting for a monitor when shooting handheld shots.

**Developer response:** Could you send me an email—nic@chemicalwedding.tv. Would love to chat

### 5/5 — Best Directors Viewfinder

*2026-07-26*

Great app! Essential for cinematographers on any production. Artemis is really pushing the feature set forward too. The Helios integration, live streaming and Mac app are a welcome upgrade!

### 5/5 — Thanks for help.

*2026-07-22*

I had some problem with the app in recovering the old password. As soon as I contacted to the Artemis team (Nick), he helped me. Thanks Nick & Artemis for responding & helping me so quickly.
Thanks 🙏🙏🙏🙏

### 5/5 — The gold standard for a digital viewfinder

*2026-07-15*

There’s a reason this one is trusted by top cinematographers and has the awards to back it up. The camera and lens database is comprehensive, the framing is accurate, and having every lens in my pocket makes communication on set so much easier. Manual image control, LUT previews, custom frame-lines, and streaming to nearby crew are all things I use constantly. The Helios sun-tracking addition is fantastic for planning exteriors. Fast, precise, and fully customizable — it genuinely helps me shoot a better film.

### 5/5 — 5yrs in & fantastic support

*2026-07-11, version 8.6.1*

Excellent app that I have used for 5 years. Amazing support from Nic - the developer (& DoP) - who cares deeply about his product. Thank you.

### 5/5 — Fantastic Onset View Finding Tool

*2026-06-09*

We have been using Artemis for years onset as a view finder. Nic has been super helpful making changes and personalizing camera formats and lenses as the new technology evolves.
