### 4/5 — in covid what we need is to play over discord

*2020-10-30*

or zoom or something like that, because we can't all be in the same room. Please make a version for playing over the web in some fashion.

### 4/5 — Needs 2.7 Update

*2020-09-25*

I really love this game. I hope it gets updated some day

### 3/5 — Needs update to match latest version

*2019-02-19*

The app theoretically works great, but crashes out when paired with later versions of the game. If the designers could update this to version 2.7 it would be much appreciated !

### 2/5 — Great when working but crash constantly

*2019-01-21*

Great concept and really fun when it works. Unfortunately it crashes all the time and if you have gathered a bunch of people to play and then it suddenly quits after 15 minutes in it really kills the whole deal.

### 2/5 — Warning, not compatible with latest release

*2018-08-06*

The iOS version is incompatible and will crash if you try and run it with the latest version of the PC server.

From everything available, there appears to be no effort to update this app to work with later releases.

Other than that, if you are running just iOS or cripple your Artemis server back to 2.4, it works as advertised. But it’s kinda like having a car with a transmission that never leaves second gear. It runs, but do you really want to take it on a long trip?

### 4/5 — Needs update to 2.6

*2017-06-06*

Pretty amazing party game. If you want to experience what it's like to be on a starship bridge, this is it. I recommend looking online on how to run this game online or a local area network. Port Forwarding isn't the most user-friendly thing for playing with friends. There's some great tutorials to get it all hooked up though. This app seriously needs an update though and will crash if the server version doesn't match. 5 stars when updated.

### 4/5 — Great game, needs to be updated to 2.6

*2017-05-26*

Please update the mobile version, it keeps crashing when connected to desktop, thanks.

### 4/5 — Doesn't work on Mobile Data - so beware before you purchase.

*2017-04-06, version 2.4.0*

Check forums for which devices it doesn't work for, it is cross platform though! Does not work on 4G / mobile data. Wish it did!

### 4/5 — Great game, here's a suggestion

*2016-08-08*

I happen to have the latest version of the Apple TV, I think it would be easier if you have an app of this for that made just for hosting and big screen display of the ship, so I don't have to waste a device just to AirPlay the ship and host the game.

### 3/5 — Fun but way out of date

*2016-04-25, version 2.1.1*

This is a lot of fun, but it just doesn't work with the pc version because it's so out of date.

### 3/5 — Great game!

*2016-03-03, version 2.1.1*

Still a great game. I'm only giving it 3 stars due to the lack of *proper* AirPlay support (720p or 1080p output), and the fact that it is now *two* revisions out of date with respect to the desktop version. The buzz on the Artemis forums is that issue won't be fixed until *June 2016*!

The dead of the mobile version need to get it in gear and keep up with the desktop version!

### 2/5 — Please update

*2016-02-01, version 2.1.1*

Tried to use this with friends using the steam version. It didn't work because this version of the game is out of date. Please keep this up to date with other versions of the game that you're selling, it makes this app worthless otherwise :/

It's a shame because this game is really fun when it works.

### 3/5 — Can't use, needs update

*2015-12-29, version 2.1.1*

to run with most recent Artemis server software.
Artemis is great, and this app is a good implementation of the client stations, but it can't work unless everybody downgrades to older software

How about an update, or a refund, since I can't use your app?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Old version

*2021-08-27*

This is for an old version of the game 2.4. Current version of the game is 2.7.5, it will not work!

### 1/5 — Needs update

*2020-07-28*

I love the game and concept! But it’s been 4 years since the iOS update, and it’s no longer compatible with the pc and steam versions. Pity, because an iPad is about the perfect device to use for this game. It won’t be long until it isn’t supported in a current iOS at all. If ever an app cried out to run on Apple TV, THIS would be it... but it seems to have run out of antimatter. Sad.

### 1/5 — Old version

*2020-01-11*

Does not support latest version, so useless for combining with other platforms, which was the reason I bought this. Very disappointing.

### 1/5 — Hijacked my screen iPhone XR

*2019-08-30*

I love this game when we played it at conventions but this app hijacked my screen on iPhone XR and I couldn’t close it. No swipe up no response. Very disappointing.

### 1/5 — Love this game! Please update this!

*2019-03-14*

Please update this game, I’m dying to play it again!

### 1/5 — Doesn't work in group setting with PC host

*2017-07-30, version 2.4.0*

A quick Internet search will let you know that this app is basically useless using with a PC host, don't waste your money and waste your evening. Wait for an update.

### 1/5 — Not getting updates

*2017-01-08*

Can't use it due to no update. What is going on?

### 1/5 — Extremely buggy - crashes constantly

*2016-07-07, version 2.4.0*

Frustrating experience given how promising it looks.

### 1/5 — great potential, disappointing reality

*2016-01-22, version 2.1.1*

I watched friends play a mission at a sci fi convention and wished I had signed up with them! It looks like tremendous fun.
Unfortunately, this version is not compatible with the currently shipping server version. Also there is no native Mac support. The next release is supposed to be out in April '16. It feels as though iOS support is an afterthought for a disfavored step-child.

### 1/5 — NOT COMPATIBLE with the version on Steam.

*2016-01-09, version 2.1.1*

Disappointed to buy this, version 2.1.1, only to find out it’s not compatible with version 2.2.0 that they’re selling on the Steam. You will not be able to play with PCs at this time.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — A lovely game for hardcore sim enthusiasts.

*2022-07-10*

What. A. Game.

Fans of BSG / TREK and many others, will love this game for it’s amazingly detailed but easy to grasp stations and controls. Its definitely not a single player game, which I imagine is why it doesn’t have a 5 star rating on here.

If you got a few nerdy friends that you can convince to buy this app, once you play a session together you will understand the hype.

LAN is definitely an old school way to play a game in 2022, but operating a starship requires instant communication with your peers. There be no better way than doing it in person. The full touch controls from your iphone or iPad is incredibly satisfying.

This game won’t wow you with its visuals but it’s also not trying too. There is a crazy ton of stuff working behind the scenes to make the experience feel true to life and completely sucked me in. It’s not an easy game but man is it rewarding when you succeed.

All this said - I wouldn’t recommend playing without at least 2 or 3 other individuals at a minimum.

Artemis smartly gives you the ability to helm several stations at once, however, some roles like Engineering are practically are full time jobs.

You will definitely want a minimal crew to help share in the wearing of multiple hats.

This iOS version of Artemis is currently locked at version 2.4 for the foreseeable future, but honestly it’s been ok and much easier for me to get large groups of players together for LAN parties than it ever was whenever I would try to get group seasons going on PC. I don’t roll deep in PC gaming so I dont really have a PC community to summon.

This version is fantastic and just works.

The minimum requirements are so low, it virtually guarantees anyone using an iOS can play and we will ALL be on the same version.

Considering how many people own iOS devices, and how easy they are to transport, I find it much more convenient and easy to play in this ecosystem regularly.

It’s hard to believe one guy created this game and I’m glad he hasn’t abandoned ship even if iOS does get nearly as much love.

Support this game. It’s totally worth it.

### 5/5 — Fun with friends

*2018-07-29*

Fun once you learn it. Suggestion: put a button on the startup screen linking to either a quick start guide and/or thorough instructions (either on the web or built-in). I didn’t know what I was supposed to do when I launched the app and had to research on my own, and I’m sure some users never get that far and give up. Their loss!

### 5/5 — Great game!

*2017-11-25, version 2.4.0*

Connects great, no lag issues or crashing etc; Can’t wait to see if this gets expanded!!!

### 5/5 — iOS 11 Compatible (64bits).

*2017-09-24, version 2.4.0*

iOS 11 Compatible (64bits).

### 5/5 — Great Game

*2017-08-25*

Loads of fun, and works great.
Especially if you have the comparability patch on computer.

### 5/5 — Love it for what it is and can be...

*2016-09-17*

Community Mod Support in the mobile app would be phenomenal!

### 5/5 — ITS GREAT

*2015-08-13, version 2.1.1*

Great graphics, worth the money. Its a fun game to play on pc with friends. I only wish you could easily do single player, on a single device.

### 5/5 — The most fun you can have at a LAN party

*2015-07-31, version 2.1.1*

If you have friends.
If you have an iAnything.
Get Artemis.
It's the most fun with friends. Throw in some colored lights or Philips Hue bulbs for added ambiance.

### 5/5 — A unique game that's not for the faint hearted

*2015-07-27*

Looking at the review history, there are a lot of 5 and 1 stars and I can understand why. Artemis is tricky to set up because you need to have multiple players each with their own device. I've successfully played it many times with a mix of iOS devices and PCs, or just iOS devices, but it takes patience and persistence to get it to work and it can be glitchy. So why 5 stars? Because firstly there's no other game like it. I play it with my kids and we have an absolute blast. Secondly because coop networked apps like this are hard to do, issues are almost inevitable and may not be entirely down to the app itself, and given the low price of the iOS version I think it's a very fair deal. Just be aware you need to make sure all the versions of the game are the same and to be patient with any issues. It's well worth it.

### 5/5 — great game

*2015-07-18, version 2.1.1*

this game is so much fun for friends playing with you and if you have multiple devices for yourself too. The star trek game we have all dreamed of.
There are some minor bugs like when you leave and come back to the app it gives you black screen but other than that it is the best game for star trek lovers.
