## What is Articulation Test Center Hive?

Articulation Test Center Hive (ATC Hive) is a criterion-referenced, articulation and phonology test, created by SLPs for SLPs to assess speech sound disorders in children and adults. It is a smart testing solution that offers flexible testing options, interactive speech scenes, comprehensive test results, and auto-generated, data-driven reports that will save you time!

Assesses the sounds and words that are developmentally appropriate based on age.
 
Full Test:

INTERACTIVE SPEECH SCENES:

Speech Sample: 
Offers two beautifully illustrated and interactive speech scenes for children to explore with question prompts to keep them talking. It is a fun and easy way to record and save a connected speech sample for assessing a student’s speech and language skills, and it provides a more accurate way to measure intelligibility.

COMPREHENSIVE TEST RESULTS:

Scores Overview:
Displays progress graphs for Percent Phonemes Correct and Intelligibility, and a list of tests given.

Words Tested:
Displays all the words tested, how they were scored, and phonological processes & distortions marked. You can listen to recordings made and view notes. If edits are needed you can return to the test to make changes.

Sound Errors:
Displays the sound errors by sound position and age of acquisition. You can also mark sound errors for stimulability.

Place/Manner:
Displays sound errors based on the place of articulation and on the manner of articulation. It also displays vowel errors by position and quadrant.
 
Substitutions:
Displays all the substitutions made and omissions marked.

Processes/Distortions:
Displays all the phonological processes and distortions marked in the test. It does this with a visual graph as well as a list of processes marked.

Speech Sample:
The audio recording taken from the speech sample is saved and available for playback. The intelligibility can be updated and a transcription can be entered or viewed.

Recommendation:
Shows a quick summary of sounds and phonological processes recommended for practice and sounds processes that should be monitored for appropriate development.

AUTO-GENERATED REPORTS:
The Report tab presents a full written report summarizing the test results. The report can be edited and/or shared with parents, teachers, and others involved in the intervention process.

I have used this app for years and now I can’t because it requires a subscription. I hardly see how that is just.

**Developer response:** Articulation Test Center Hive is a new version of Articulation Test Center and is part of our Little Bee Hive subscription that was launched a few years ago.

The original "classic" Articulation Test Center app is no longer available for new downloads on the App Store. However, if you previously downloaded or purchased it, you still have access to it. You can re-download the original app for free by logging in to the App Store with the same Apple ID you used to download it initially, then go to your Purchased apps section and re-download it. Great product! Makes my job easier but it’s expensive but I understand why. I just don’t get paid enough as a SLP to afford this every month. And it deletes my recorded speech samples so that’s frustrating.

Thanks for this fantastic app, I use it with all my speech students.  I find it full of really helpful functions and sections, very easy to use, and lovely to look at and share with kids.  I would just add a pause function in the Speech Sample recording section for the stopping and starting when transcribing!

We're thrilled to hear that you enjoy using the app. Regarding the speech sample section... while there is no pause button, you can just tap the stop button to pause recording and the play button to start it again. In the data and transciption screens all the recordings from a single session are stitched together so you can listen to them continously all at once. When transcribing a speech sample there is also a play and pause button at the top left. If you have any additional questions please contact us anytime!

I bought the original articulation station app 12 years ago. I was shocked that this new app moved to subscription. I’m a school SLP, no way I can afford this.

Not a fan of the new recording option. I preferred the previous one where it would continuously record.

This app is user-friendly, the reports are thorough and easy to understand, and it saves me so much time in test administration and scoring. I love that it's included in the Little Bee Hive pro subscription cost! This is a good value and makes comprehensive articulation testing so much more accessible. Highly, highly recommend!

I’ve been using the Articulation Test Center Hive this school year to evaluate and screen all of my students with articulation and phonological issues. I find it extremely easy to use, and it keeps all my data in one place. I’m able to use it at multiple schools on my iPad which makes for easy access. I love how it automatically gives me errors in place/manner and which phonological processes are present. I especially like being able to record my students’ responses. My school does not reimburse me for this app, but I find it to be so essential that I pay for it myself.

I LOVE the Artic Hive Testing app…it’s quick to use, allows marking of errors with ease, has an audio recording section for speech language sampling and generates very thorough reports that can be cut and pasted into report templates. It’s saved me SO much time with report writing! Plus, no more lugging around paper copies and flip charts!  

I would love more speech sampling story boards, but what’s there is great!

Articulation Test Center Hive makes it easy and quick to assess students. It also makes IEPs a breeze! I typically use the app to assess my students a few times a year to check-in on their progress and determine new speech sound goals/targets for their IEP. I love that the phonological processes are auto-marked and the report is written for you, with the ability to customize the report as much as needed. It's easy to share the report with parents as well! If you have a lot of referrals and comprehensive speech and language evaluations to complete, this app has the articulation portion covered for you. And with the interactive scenes you can easily record a speech sample that is helpful for assessing speech, language, and fluency.
