Unfortunately, I can no longer save the rendered images to camera roll, the app just crashes. I can however still email the renders but they suffer from heavy pixilation using this method. Hopefully the author can bring this app back to its former glory. ### 2/5 — Needs work *2014-07-17, version 2.5.1* This app has a lot of potential but still needs a lot of work. The paint colors are true to the photograph or item that is being copied but it just smears across the drawing. One color melts into the next with no distinctive lines to show what one is trying to paint. I tried many times using my finger, pogo, a brush pen and more. Nothing worked! I just wound up with a beautiful splash of colors. ### 4/5 — Nice! *2014-07-10, version 2.5.1* I really like this app! At first I didn't quite get it, but I watched the tutorial and it's really easy & fun. Most importantly, it gives you the opportunity to turn your photos into a painting in an original way and not some product of a tired algorithm. I wish it supported full res for non retina iPads, but I was told it could be coming. There's only one level of undo so that is going to improve as well. And, the developer wrote me back when I asked about all this. ### 4/5 — Long-awaited HD upgrade *2014-06-03, version 2.5.1* I have been using Artist's Touch along with other tools to manipulate photos for over 18 months, and have always found it fun to use, achieving great results. The only real problem I had with the app was its iPad 1 resolution, and getting the work printed. This upgrade takes care of that nicely. All the tools are still there, and the functionality has remained as familiar as before. Nitpicks and feature requests-- 1. I'd like to see a deeper zoom for very fine edits. 2. The largest scale of the brush strokes could stand to be much larger. This would allow the creation of an underpainting effect. 3. A carry-over problem from the previous version is the random resizing and transparency change when changing tools. This is a welcome update. ### 1/5 — Unusable and ugly *2013-08-22, version 2.1* This app offers so little functions with poor implementation and ugly interface, that I really want my money back. PhotoVista is much better with very high resolution output. ### 4/5 — Artist Touch *2012-12-22, version 2.0.5* Artist Touch has become a regular tool in my "Art Bin"... and I highly recommend it to those who are interested in creatively altering photography! Even if I experience a little glitch (which I do every now and then), I overlook them... because it's the final result I'm interested in. And this is, by far, the best app out there for these painterly effects. I'm looking forward to seeing the updated version with new features... high resolution output and undo/redo features will definitely push this app into the Superstar category! ### 1/5 — dreadful *2012-11-08, version 2.0.5* what a waste of time and money ### 4/5 — Patience = great results *2012-10-17, version 2.0.5* This is a semi automatic paint effect app. With that in mind you actually have to spend some time "painting" in the color with strokes and whatnot. The results? Amazing. It looks like a real hand painted effect because YOU paint in the color and strokes of the brushes (the underlying color slowly comes through automatically). But again, you are in control. But that does mean you have to work a little bit, paint, sketch... It does all the hard work. One complaint though is the low resolution. The results are awesome! Feels natural and somrelacing. It can be used as a mindfulness activity. It is not an “instant” photo app. It is a powerful rendering tool that does things that no other app can approximate. It needs to be updated a bit. I hope Artamata will invest in it and make it even better than before. After an ios update had to switch to cleverpainter now this is back and cleverpainter is gone. I think people have the wrong idea of what this app does that’s why there’s so many low ratings. People are probably looking for the instant photo to paint apps. This is a kind of coloring book kind of app. It’s super fun and very relaxing. I love taking the time to paint my photos starting with the large brushes then the smaller ones to add a little detail to my painting. Just with there were more customizable settings. I dont like the random direction the strokes go. Hats off to the developers and thank you soo much for bringing this app back!!!
