Auction house holding the painting valued it at $180,000 to $240,000. I did this to get some idea of how it works and if the auction house’s appraisals were on target. So then I scanned in a hand signed Marc Chagall print with an auction value of $800 to 1200 and it came back as $50-100. Think I’ll stick with the professionals. Subscription is cancelled. ### 1/5 — Does not work at all *2026-06-14* I have a number of well known art pieces and it values them extremely low compared to what the known value is. The first 3 pieces I tried were from good career artists. It guessed with a medium was never asked who the artist was, and I didn’t know where to put the timeframe in which it was purchased and how much it was purchase for. I will be canceling this app hopefully they’ll be further updates to it in the future. **Developer response:** Thank you for your detailed feedback. Your feedback is valuable, and it helps us understand where the experience needs to improve in future updates. ### 1/5 — Yea… no *2026-04-15* Can’t import more than one image at a time, scanned several named oil originals, a David Shepherd, and a number of others, all of them came back as “unknown artist” and “value of 400-600” which is a little challenging given the artists are all well known and documented… can’t even bloody try it to see IF it works without signing up for a subscription with free trial… So far this was the second one tried and both have been pretty useless. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Pricing is incorrect *2026-08-14* I happen to know the pricing of several of my pictures. The only useful thing is the 300DPI conversion but at $40 a year is EXCESSIVE when there are many apps that convert images for free. **Developer response:** Hi, thanks for your feedback. Thanks again for trying Artora. ### 1/5 — 0 for 1 *2026-07-25* App did not recognize this contemporary living artist who has works in countless galleries and private collections. ### 1/5 — Generic and Fake *2026-07-19* This is an app that is using AI to identify what is in a picture such as sailing ship on a sea or old buildings on our road or snowy mountain with the river. However, even with the artist name is clearly viewable on the paintings themselves the app can’t seem to figure out who the artist is or when the painting would’ve been painted or even just the base of information. The information provided is so generic that I might be to do the same thing with ChatGPT or Claude. It misidentified objects in scenes and sometimes missed important subjects altogether. Two paintings I have that are authenticated 19th century paintings (but not by famous artists) were identified as replicas - one has been in the family since its creation. But still fun to use and see what it thinks, not useful in any practical sense though. Maybe it’ll get there in future versions. Fun idea! ### 3/5 — Interesting but limited *2026-06-21* I enjoyed the reviews and comments generated by the app but it is limited in that it doesn’t allow you to provide details it says the review is missing that would provide a more accurate evaluation. For example, it tells you that it doesn’t recognize the artist or the size. It can’t tell acrylic from oil. If the app wanted to be more accurate, it should provide a method to edit the details it provides and then the value and comments could be reassessed with the updated information. I am only keeping the app for the free 7 days because of this.
