## What is Ascently?

This is a FOSS app meant to help climbers track their sessions, routes/problems, and overall progress. This app is offline-first, with an optional sync server and integrations with Apple Health.

This app was formerly released as OpenClimb, and underwent a re-branding due to discovering another app with the same name.


## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.1.0 — 2026-05-27

This version includes additional improvements to the sync system, image rendering, camera optimizations, as well as an OPTIONAL LOCAL AI generated analytics overview feature that is opt-in. No data about this leaves your device and all processing is done on-device. This was mostly an experiment for me but figured someone might enjoy it.

Also, we have some new tags for analytics, as well as projects! This lets you track your progress on a specific problem across sessions in a more precise way. Go out there and CLIMB!

### 3.0.0 — 2026-05-05

A lot of improvements!
- iCloud sync is out of beta
- Sync performance is significantly improved (Parallel photo sync)
- Taking photos of routes or problems straight from the app should be faster and feel more native

Hiya! First update that removes something.
- Apple Music integration is no more! This was clunky and tbh I didn't want to maintain it
- Made things a bit easier to maintain as I add more things so I don't footgun myself too hard...
