## What is Ashenmarch?

Your runs are conquests. Ashenmarch turns the real world into a map of contested ground — every route you run or walk claims and defends territory, builds your noble house, and raises your standing in the realm.

Lace up, close a loop through your neighborhood, and the land inside it becomes yours — painted in your house colors, your blazon at its heart. Run it again to fortify. March out and back to raise walls. Cross into a rival's ground to lay siege. Every mile works for your house.

CLAIM REAL-WORLD LAND
Close a loop on the map and take the ground inside it. Outposts grow into citadels the more you march them.

FOUND A NOBLE HOUSE
Name your house, design your coat of arms, and watch your holdings, walls, and treasury grow. Rise through the ranks and take your place among the great houses.

A LIVE WAR-MAP
Run in-app with a live parchment war-map, distance and grip tracking, auto-pause, and a herald who announces your conquests as they happen.

OR BRING YOUR OWN RUNS
Already run with Strava? Connect it and your activities import automatically — the same conquest logic applies. Apple Health and Garmin are welcome too. Strava is a data connection, not a login; disconnect any time.

MEASURED AGAINST YOU
Everything is judged against your own baseline. A beginner's personal best counts exactly as much as an elite athlete's — beat your own mark and you're rewarded. It's never pay-to-win.

WAGE WAR, WIN GLORY
Lay siege to rivals, defend your borders, hire sellswords, plunder gold, uncover treasure, and join a court to hold whole provinces together.

YOU CANNOT BE ELIMINATED
There is no defeat screen and no losing your account. Your rank history and conquest milestones are permanent — only the ground itself changes hands, and lost land can always be retaken.

Your first conquest is free. After that, every new player gets 30 days of full access, and membership continues through the App Store.

The realm gathers on Discord — find rivals and join a court.

The map is being drawn now. Take your place.

### 5/5 — Tracking your progress AND conquering the world

*2026-10-15*

Sometimes just keeping track of your progress isn’t enough to keep you motivated, especially when the weather isn’t great. Ashenmarch adds that little extra that gets you off the couch. Now that I’ve claimed some territory, I don’t want to cede it so I’m motivated to reinforce my borders. Also fun to lay siege to territory claimed by others. 😁 The design is great as are all the extras to improve your territory. This is definitely the most fun way to track your running and biking stats. Onward!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.6 — 2026-10-18

Your first conquest is free

The paywall has moved out of the way. March, close a loop, take your first ground — and only then decide whether to go on. Nothing is asked of you before you have seen what the game actually does.

Share a conquest to Instagram

Finish a march and send it straight to your Story: your crest, your house colours, and the ground you just took, drawn as a card. Tap the share button on any completed march.

The realm speaks German and Italian

The whole app — every screen, every verdict, every rank — is now translated into German and Italian, alongside English, Spanish, French and Portuguese.

Your march survives being interrupted

Rest as long as you like. A pause is now recorded properly, so a long stop no longer costs you the ground you marched before it. And if the app closes mid-march, the recovered march is the first thing you see when you come back — not something you find behind another screen.

The pause screen tells you where you stand

It now shows how long you have rested and says plainly that your ground is held, instead of leaving you to guess.

Also fixed

- The share button is visible against the map instead of vanishing into it
- A conquest card can be shared from your realm and from a fallen seat, not just a finished march
- Tapping share gives you honest feedback instead of looking like it failed

The land is won on foot.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-10-01

Your first conquest

The Herald now names real ground on your first day — a Crown holding near you, with the map framed on it. No more standing in an empty realm wondering what to do.

  The tour is gone

Five cards before you had walked a step. The game now explains itself where explaining is needed: the Armoury, the Empire and the Market each teach their own screen while they are still empty.

  Your founding claim pays

Close your first loop and the Seat dream shows you the far end of the ladder you have just stepped onto, and the Herald sets your claim down in the chronicle.

  Watch the land close

A march now shades the ground you are enclosing as you walk it, with the distance still to close. You can see the claim forming instead of hoping for it.

A loop that does not close explains itself

Walk a loop that falls short and the verdict teaches you enclosure rather than blaming you for missing it.

March types say what they are

Each march type now names the real activity behind it, so you are not guessing which one matches your morning.

  The Crown owns every ghost

Unclaimed ground was never truly unclaimed. The map says so now.

  Also fixed

  - A refused house name no longer skips you past naming your house, and the refusal appears where you typed it
  - Signing out restores the full first run, so a shared device starts clean
  - The Herald's charge waits for a real GPS fix instead of guessing
  - The Strava import checks your connection before blaming the dates
  - Notifications register again every time you return to the app
  - Distances, paces and elevations follow your units everywhere — the campaign, the summit and the lock screen all agree
  - French, Portuguese and Spanish: the crest step, the permission cards and the Empire subtitle are all properly translated

The land is won on foot.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-09-14

Your march is no longer lost if you're signed out mid-march.

If your session ends while a march is still unsent — a dropped connection, an expired sign-in — the march is kept. Sign back in and it submits itself. Previously it was discarded.

Also in this release:

• Fixed a crash in The Market for players using Spanish, French or Portuguese.
• You can now report a holding's name.
• When a name can't be used, the reason is explained in your own language, and asks you to choose another rather than to try again.
• One "Begin Your March" button on the dashboard instead of two.
• The heraldic mark beside the wordmark no longer looks like a button.
• Consistent treatment for labels and controls throughout.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-12

French and Portuguese

The app now speaks both. Pick your language in Profile and everything moves with it — the herald's dispatches, your realm standing, the lot.

Spanish, properly

164 strings that had never been translated, and 229 rewritten by a native speaker. Walls are murallas throughout now: the word for a city's defences, not a garden fence.

Your first march

The Fervor gauge used to judge you before it had anything to judge. With no history to measure against it now says so plainly, and Realm Standing does the same rather than showing you an empty card.

Cold GPS

A march could sit silent while the phone worked out where it was. It says so now, and warms up a fix before you set off.

Also fixed

- Signing in no longer stalls while the keychain is read
- Treasure seals keep their place on a crowded map
- A Sellsword's Mark reads as a proper bordure
- The Fervor gauge is legible in daylight
- Castle plans name the stage they are quoting
- The Castle stops claiming you hold no Seat when it simply could not reach the server
- Free-trial eligibility comes from the App Store instead of a guess
- Founding members are no longer told their membership runs out in 2226

The land is won on foot.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-09-05

Spanish, properly.

Ashenmarch now speaks Spanish beyond the menus. Distances and numbers use
the right decimal separator, holding names and claim ages read in Spanish,
and the wording was reviewed rather than machine-dropped.

Also in this version:

• Your first march no longer opens to a blank map. The parchment and your
position are there from the start, instead of thirty seconds in.
• Campaign maps fill their frame — a long north-south route is no longer
squeezed into a sliver with bare parchment either side.
• Your holdings draw at every zoom, not only when you're close in.
• The ground around you is surveyed before your first march, so there's
land to claim when you set out.
• Shared campaign links now open in the app.
• Terrain reads properly on the live march map at true scale.
• Naming your house is legible again.
