Hornet Watch is an app designed to help the early detection of Asian Hornet in the UK following the first confirmed record in September 2016. Asian Hornet is a non-native species within the UK and could have a serious impact on our native insects and honeybees so early detection is important. There are a number of native insects in the UK that look very similar, and are common and widespread. Records of these species are equally welcome to help map their distribution and Hornet Watch provides an identification guide to help determine which species you have seen. I tried to adjust all settings for some time then gave up. Note: I’ve had an iPhone for 10+ years, work in IT, and never had such an issue. ### 1/5 — No camera or photo permissions so it’s useless. *2026-05-25* Your developers have forgotten to add the camera or photos entitlement to the app. So there’s no push to ask for permission but also no manual option in the main iOS settings. This makes uploading or taking a photo completely impossible. Either fix this or just give up. ### 1/5 — Waste of time *2025-04-29* Don’t bother no one comes back to you ### 4/5 — Change of names *2024-11-02* As the “powers to be” have now decided to change the name of the Asian Hornet to Yellow Legged Hornet , can you consider updating the name on the app. Also as there are other hornets from Asia on the way you might consider adding these to the reference species the ID guide. Can you add the European wasp to the ID chart, as there are people reporting these as suspect. I’ve tried registering but the same thing happens. Renders it unusable.
