But I have a few pointers about the app itself. 1. I think you should add the function where you add submit new words for people to add to the ASL dictionary. 2. Whenever I use the app, ( I don’t know if it’s because of the version of my phone I am using) but whenever I get onto Fill in the vocabulary, there’s usually a few videos I cannot access, no matter how many times I press play. Also when I try to type the words down in the box underneath the video, it is a hassle. Basically I would have to continually press the box, to eventually be able to type down my answer. And that’s really bad if you’re under a time restraint. Because my school starts not very long after I do my ASL, so I have to finish up really quickly. I do love you guys app, just please add these modifications. 🙂 ### 4/5 — Love it *2022-12-26, version 2.8.9* I love this app but for some reason some of the videos are black, we can’t see anything. Please fix this, this hasn’t happened before. ### 3/5 — ASL college student *2022-05-01, version 2.7.1* So I am enrolled in a college class to learn ASL and yes the app is useful it’s just very outdated it seems like they created the app and website at the same time just never updated the app it would be nice to have updated feature so it’s easier to navigate between the videos and assignments in the course. ASL defined is a really great way to learn sign language I’m having a really great time using this program for my classes! The description is very unclear, because upon downloading and opening this app, it clearly requires an account. There is an input box to login, but zero details on the app screen on how to create an account, or whether it is free/etc. Zero details on the front app page or in the description. ### 1/5 — Learning asl for free *2024-08-17, version 2.9.5* This app is not free. It is a subscription based app. You will never be able to learn ASL for free. There will always be a catch or secret subscription or necessary feature you have to pay for. You can learn every word in ASL and still not know two very important things: grammar and sentence structure. There are plenty of free ASL dictionaries that teach you nothing about grammar or sentence structure. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, because it’s not a dictionary’s job to teach you grammar. I AM saying I am giving up trying to find a free app that will teach me every aspect of ASL, and so should you. ### 1/5 — Uhmm? This is perfect for that. It has lots of “lessons” that are mostly a set of vocab, and then various activities to test weather you remember it. it has tons of lessons, and various sort features to help you find the lessons you are looking for. If I could ask for something more it would be a “test” feature that assess what lessons you should learn next based on what you dont know, and for an opinion to show the correct answer when you get something wrong in an activity. Also, you need to make an account on the web before using the app. It doesn’t ask anything too personal though, and its free. I used to take an online class for ASL and it was horrible! The teachers weren’t helpful and the lessons were taught simply for the upcoming tests. This app/website makes learning ASL easy! You learn 20 words/numbers per lesson and are evaluated on recognizing the signs and describing the location and handshape.
