It is incredibly unreliable and unstable in the months that we’ve had to use it. You’d be lucky to activate the key on the THIRD TRY. It is a miracle that it unlocks on the first and it has never happened to me. Never—I am not exaggerating. Imagine not being able to get inside your own home and having to wait for someone to open the door. Imagine having to do this every day. For something so crucial to your life, this is not an issue to want to deal with especially when it comes to security. For any building management or homeowners coming across this review, I sincerely hope that you reconsider Yale’s service as it is an awful application. This is not something you or your tenants should have to put up with. As for Yale, they are constantly putting out updates but have yet to fix this problem. I am fed up and frustrated. You would be too if you were forced to use this app every day of your life. So, if this headache isn’t something you’d want to deal with, look elsewhere. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Not Functional *2026-05-27* The actual scanning mode which I imagine is the default use case hasn’t worked for months. Mostly just open Apple wallet for some reason and immediately fails. The only other option at my complex is to use their remote or RMA option but that requires a login every single time you open the app and even that execution path is stupidly slow. The UI keeps changing but somehow is getting uglier and less functional. ### 1/5 — Difficult getting started *2026-05-09, version 1.15.12* So slow in sending a code when you try to get started. For the life of me, I cannot comprehend how it has more than 1 star, and that is only because you cannot give apps less than 1 on the App Store. As far as I am concerned, THIS APP DESERVES ZERO STARS. Please understand I have only ever taken the time to write 2 reviews in my life. Both of them have been to convey my absolute frustration for this app. I LOVE my apartment complex and would consider it the best place I’ve lived since moving out of my parents’ when I went to college. This app alone is enough to make me consider leaving for somewhere that doesn’t use this god awful POS. I have to log in every single time I want to open my community gate. Then when I drive my car through the gate, four buildings down to my apartment, and walk up the stairs I have to LOGIN AGAIN to unlock my door. God forbid I have the phone even a single micrometer off of the lock register or else the frickin thing won’t unlock. I must have my phone perfectly centered, level, and flat against the lock for it to pick up any signal. I’m seriously considering carrying around a level and ruler at this point. BEATING DOWN THE DOOR WOULD BE FASTER. I KID YOU NOT. I brought up these issues to my apartment management, and they suggested deleting the app and redownloading which I did. I now cannot even get into my apartment because “all the mobile keys” for this property have been claimed. I am on the verge of insanity. I have hit rock bottom, and I feel like the app developers just threw me a shovel. When I wrote my first review, I asked for Apple Watch and or Apple Pay compatibility with the lock as that would’ve made the app infinitely better from its less than mediocre functionality. Keep in mind you have to: 1) login to your phone. 2) scroll to find the app (which I keep on the first page of my phone for convenience) 3) open the app 4) login 5) wait 20-30 seconds for the page to load 6) select the mobile keys tab 7) select unlock 8) hold the phone exactly with the correct orientation and alignment in order for the lock to register 9) wait another 10-15 seconds for the app to register my requested action and unlock the door. The Delta Force operators were in and out of Venezuela all before I got a gosh dang mother fricking door unlocked. At this point, I would commit grand larceny in the first degree, kidnap a baby, and give away my life savings to a billionaire just to get this app to work more effectively. I hope this review has accurately reflected my feelings toward this app. Although, as far as I’m concerned, something that operated this horribly should not be classified as an app. This thing is a torture device. Please appreciate the lack of cuss words in this review. It took much restraint and several deep breaths in order to purposefully exclude them. I know this app has taken several years off of my life. Absolute trash. ### 1/5 — Unbelievably bad *2025-11-10* The HOA of our building adopted this locking system 1 year ago and has been nothing but trouble. The software is rudimentary at best. Mysteriously, one of the common locks of our building will randomly stop working. Leaving the occupants of an entire floor stranded. In addition, using the management features is cumbersome at best the functionality is awkward even when it does work. This company is just waiting for a lawsuit. It’s unbelievable that you can get locked out of your own home even when you have all forms of credentials with you i. e. keyfob, a keycard and phone app and none of them will give you access. This company has changed the hardware three times so it’s obviously a software issue. And the company is clueless. To say the rollout was well received would be a lie. I was not made aware that the configuration app was only available on Android, which is absolutely insane, but my iPhone X can’t even get me into my exterior door reliably. 9 times out of 10, the credential updater just beeps angrily at me when I hold my phone up to it instead of the two quick beeps granting me entrance, so I have to rely on a fob, which defeats the point of remote programming. The interior battery operated door locks are a bit more reliable for me, but they have given my tenants issues every couple of uses. If you don’t hold your phone a certain way, it will fail to unlock. Having to open your phone, then the app, then pressing activate key and holding it exactly the way it needs to be held and then waiting for some time is extremely inconvenient, especially if it fails to unlock altogether. Eventually, I would like to see this become a touchless system, or at least not have to unlock my phone or open the app. I would like to see: - more reliability on the iOS platform. - leaseholders being able to request guest/visitor access or removal and the specific schedules they want through the app, instead of having to fill out a Google Form that I had to create - fob holders being able to mark a fob as lost - configuration app being available on iOS instead of just Android - management system being available on iOS instead of having to log in through Chrome - touch less system or touch to open instead of opening the app --- *Data collected daily from the US App Store and indexed by [AppsHunter](https://appshunter.io/).
