This software is clean (substance over unnecessary “frills”) and simple to use and on the very few occasions I’ve had a problem their team has responded incredibly quickly and have earned my respect. Now I wish I could learn German as fast as these folks respond to my questions. ### 3/5 — Finally an update!!!! *2026-07-30, version 5.3.4* Review update 07/2026. It looks like all the major glitches and crashes are fixed, it was a long waited and necessary update, overall with each update the app become more pleasant and smoother to use, assimil promptly fix new update crash, they are working hard to deliver a beautiful product. Cons : Bring back the pinch in/out feature For the pros : Our progress is finally saved across multi devices, we can use the app in portrait or landscape mode and we can zoom in/out from the menu even on pc, we can use the pen finally, they fixed the highlight in the vocabulary section and we can finally select/copy word… What would be amazing : more progress stats, maybe a simple widget it helpful neurodivergents to stay consistent, the possibility to compare speech waveform in the repeat practice, show/hide translation on the whole text to have an overview, SRS/space repetitions flashcards would be nice addition. Assimil can be so much more worldwide in the language learning community…and the app is the way to go to diffuse the methods and make it more accessible ### 4/5 — All good! *2026-07-27* L’application s’est nettement améliorée depuis la dernière mise à jour. Concernant le problème que j’avais rencontré, j’ai finalement pu récupérer mes livres après plusieurs échanges avec le service client. Quant à la méthode Assimil et à la qualité des livres, je les recommande sans hésiter. Cette méthode m’a permis de devenir bilingue assez facilement. **Developer response:** Merci pour votre message, et toutes nos excuses pour cette réponse qui vous parvient bien tard. Ne pas retrouver quatre cours pourtant réglés, c'est compréhensiblement exaspérant — mais soyez rassuré : ces achats n'ont jamais disparu, une licence Assimil est acquise à vie et reste rattachée à votre compte. L'application a depuis été entièrement repensée (version 5, mai 2026) : elle repose désormais sur un compte utilisateur et une fonction de restauration qui font réapparaître vos cours sur tous vos appareils. J’en suis à la leçon 5 en swahili. Notes now appear beneath the sentence they explain — or wait until you ask for them. At the bottom of a section, just keep scrolling: the next one rises under your finger. In an exercise, you see at a glance which sentences are left to do. A lesson's vocabulary shows its translations right away. ### 5.3.5 — 2026-08-15 Your exercises are graded fairly: the grade now matches what you actually wrote, an exercise you haven't graded no longer shows a zero, and "Start over" really starts over.
