Not so with this app. While using it you can not do anything else on your device! Also, -App can't be used to program and edit shows on TiVo remotely. -Doesn't support airplay. -Doesn't support keychain or FaceID for locking in. Other than that it works great! And one more thing. For a company this size creating an app that has as many 1 star reviews as it has 5 star reviews, it is indeed astounding that they don't seem to care about their customer reviews! ### 1/5 — Low quality *2024-05-09, version 4.10.21* It is very inconsistent. ### 1/5 — Error when trying to watching on tv *2024-05-04, version 4.10.21* When having my phone hooked up with an hdmi cable to my tv it has that it can’t stream and error message keeps on popping up. Not so with this app. This is terrible. I can't even use Apple's split screen feature when the App is open. Also, you can't record shown. Now since the update it shows something completely different. I can't connect to my DVR and the channels aren't even the same as my tv. Update: sent an email to the developer no response back. Anyone out there can you help? I'm getting very irritated that I can't use the app at all!! ### 1/5 — No longer works *2023-08-13, version 4.9.15* No longer works with recent iOS firmware. ### 1/5 — Useless app *2023-06-30, version 4.9.15* What is the point of having a mobile app when users can only access content on their home network? ### 1/5 — Advance not allowed! *2023-06-23, version 4.9.15* Same as RCN2GO it replaced, except “advance not allowed” so you have to watch commercials - skipping thru them the main reason for having a DVR. Also my Astound bill has gone up 150% since my subscription started. Time to switch to Spectrum. According to rep i spoke to today, It’s worse than i thought. It seems Astound TV+ app DOES NOT work with current Tivo boxes used with Astound/RCN. We would have to trade them in for another DVE - not Tivo box. Tivo interface is main reason i use RCN/Astound. Terrible! Go to AT&T or youtube tv. ### 1/5 — Does not show “my shows” *2023-06-11, version 4.9.15* This app does not show our recorded programs. It’s says here that iPhone 14 is supported. But Astound help says it is not. ### 1/5 — No more downloading *2023-06-06, version 4.9.15* I received an email about the older app being discontinued effective June 1 and that we had to download the Astound TV+ app. I travel a lot and like to download my shows from my DVR to my iPad. That’s no longer an option. So I downloaded the new app to stream the shows and that doesn’t work. It connects to the DVR but when I use the app, I can’t see my shows. Honestly, for how much I pay for cable I should just cancel it and go with something like Hulu. ### 1/5 — App is a waste of tome, whole company has been disappointing. *2023-04-15* This company cannot get their act together. Download the app to find it will not let you stream anything. It works sporadically on your phone but you are unable to stream to anything big enough to actually see. What a waste of storage space ### 2/5 — 2nd time around *2023-03-06, version 4.8.3* Channels keeps breaking up, freezes. Just like the old RCN. ### 1/5 — Would have been considered good… in 2016 *2023-01-18, version 4.8.3* I think my TiVo service was better in 2016. There’s less functionality, very glitchy software, and terrible design. I get a lot of error messages and blank screens. Also the cloud storage fills up very quickly so you’re prompted to pay for more. This can’t compare to services like YouTube TV and Hulu + Astound is bundled into my building fees, or I would have switched to another service already ### 1/5 — Can’t log out - Error C636 *2022-12-06, version 4.8.3* Works find on my iPad, but I am unable to log out on both a brand new Apple TV and several Firesticks. The app issues a C636 error code and claims I must be logged into the internet to log out. The Apple TV is clearly connected to the internet and can access all services for all other installed apps. But the Astound TV+ app does not recognize this. Attempted to delete the app and reinstall, but the problem persists, suggesting there is some sort of permanent problem with this app. We recently converted to IPTV TiVo boxes and a digital account, which is required for this to work. So I need to logout and log back in with the updated account info. But we are caught in this infinite failure mode. Very frustrating. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Can’t use it on iPad *2026-03-29, version 4.10.21* Until about 3 weeks ago I had no problems using the Astound TV+ app. I’ve recorded numerous movies, and liked the on-demand capability. But then it just stopped signing in and working. I spent quite a bit of time with their customer service member and they never could get it to connect again. The last thing they said was that they’d send an email to their network folks. Never heard anything back from them, nor did they get my iPad to connect. So basically the iPad app is completely useless now. ### 1/5 — The absolute worst *2026-03-15, version 4.14* This is undoubtedly the worst streaming app ever invented. Takes forever to load, crashes constantly, takes an excruciating amount of time anytime you want to change channels. It’s crazy how much better the Xfinity app was and is. ### 1/5 — Not usable on older devices *2026-03-07, version 4.10.21* Even though it states an older version is available if you have an older device, don’t bother because it never logs you in. I’ve been unable to use this app for months. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with 5th generation iPad *2026-02-03, version 4.10.21* Title about tells the whole story. Impossible to get to the Astound TV sign in page—always returns with “error happened try again.” Makes no difference if you try to sign in again or return to sign in page it always returns with “error happened.” ### 1/5 — Low Res *2025-10-29, version 4.14* The feed Astound provides tops out at 720p. Really low picture quality and there is no excuse for that in today’s market. ### 1/5 — Out dated app *2025-04-26, version 4.10.21* Very poor app. Not enough work went into making this app and they seem to abandoned it altogether ### 1/5 — Trash *2025-01-26, version 4.10.21* This app keeps kicking me out after almost every use. So I have to lodging every time on my own phone. Don’t have this issue with any of the other apps I have or had. YouTubeTV was 1,000% better. This app needs to be fixed. Garbage all around. The internet yay be rebooted often and you are unable to steam outside your home. Since I wouldn’t be able to stream, I had hoped to download some shows to my phone so I wouldn’t get too far behind. Since this is a modified port of the TiVo app, I expected that functionality. Unfortunately, it’s not an option. If shows have DRM, I would think downloading them shouldn’t be an issue. Don’t even get me started on the actual IPTV service/app. Auto-commercial skip and quick mode would be nice. I understand the networks want to make you watch the commercials, but 30 second skip still works. Quick mode is the functionality I miss most from TiVo. I mainly watch on my iPad while doing other things while away from home so I can’t really use this unless I want to just sit down and watch tv.. ### 2/5 — Terrible update!! *2025-12-07, version 4.14* Not sure exactly when the app was updated, but the latest version is terrible. Not intuitive, not easy to use. The autoplay of videos (the stations) is distracting and not helpful. Users should be able to turn off that feature, but I saw nothing in the settings that would allow me to do that. It’s hard to find a description of the show to choose when the video is playing. Also, it does not allow you to easily glance at the lineup for a particular station for the day —very cumbersome the way it’s set up.
