### 4/5 — Breath-focused speaking app

*2026-06-29, version 1.2.7*

The app is currently being improved by responsive devs—if you have a replicable issue, reach out through the app, and they are likely to contact you to help you with your issue. On the iPad, the app does crash fairly often, but not in the middle of content, so it is easy enough to simply reopen it and continue. It does not seem to lose progress when it does this.

Content wise, the app focuses on breathing. This is an underserved area of public speaking, and if you don’t have proper breath control, it is impossible to be a fully effective speaker. Hopeful speakers who have a great deal of vocal training via singing may find this less useful, but those who don’t may consider it a must have for the breath and specificity of the exercises.

### 2/5 — App crashes… so I'm reluctant to pay

*2023-11-05, version 1.0.46*

Plz fix the issues
Looks like I'm not the only one

### 3/5 — Can’t use without premium?

*2023-09-20, version 1.0.46*

I downloaded the app, and it looks great, but I can’t seem to use it at all unless I pay for premium. Can’t tell if this is just a bug? But every single aspect of the app is locked. Why even offer a free download if there isn’t even a basic version?

### 2/5 — Going around in circles

*2023-07-29, version 1.0.46*

Hello, this is a response to Robin’s response to my earlier review. Robin, you suggested I send you an email via the contact us button. That’s what I did and it did not get answered. In your response, you also provided a link to contact the developer, which goes to a Facebook page that has not been updated since 2019. I would be willing to try the app with a monthly subscription. However, as noted in all my previous correspondence, there does not seem to be any way to actually get a monthly subscription.

### 2/5 — Just a bunch of physical exercise videos and hardly any speech training.

*2023-03-03, version 1.0.46*

I downloaded this to give it a try after using a couple other speech coaching apps. You can access 1 baseline recording which has you practice a speaking a single sentence. Then anything else you want to do requires a premium membership. I did the trial thinking if I liked the features, I would subscribe. I can’t believe you have to have a premium membership to watch 1min modules on people doing random physical exercises like deep breathing and massaging your jaw - something you can easily read online or YouTube for FREE. I went through them thinking at the end there would be some speech practice. No. It’s another recording where you only say one sentence. This method will never help you improve your tempo, pitch, or projection. I cancelled the trial and deleted it after 1 day. Orai might be a better tool if you’re fine with the price.

### 1/5 — Stuck at Baseline Recording

*2022-05-07, version 1.0.45*

App begins with a baseline recording. I keep doing mine over and over and app doesn’t go anywhere or progress. Not a good beginning.

### 1/5 — DATA SCAM?

*2022-02-19, version 1.0.45*

This app is collecting data from copy&paste when you launch it.

### 1/5 — Don’t download don’t buy

*2021-10-27, version 1.0.45*

This app is an absolute joke. How the **** am I supposed to improve my speech when everything is locked? Just a cheap cash grab and attempt to get you to buy the premium. A three day trial isn’t enough to even see slight improvement or convince me to buy it

### 2/5 — It has a bug

*2021-09-18*

It’s complete recording touch doesn’t work. I tried many times with many ways but it doesn’t complete my recording.

### 1/5 — Nothing to try without premium

*2021-09-12, version 1.0.45*

I was hoping to at least try one lesson without having to subscribe for anything. Technically speaking, there is a “free” trial “after” you subscribe for one of the premium options. So it’s impossible to rate for quality of content when there are barriers to try content.

### 4/5 — Paid content only

*2021-08-20, version 1.0.45*

All of the exercises are locked for premium subscriptions only. I would have liked to explore the app before purchasing. Instead I’m deleting it.

### 1/5 — Something is missing...

*2021-05-29, version 1.0.45*

Magic Spiral isn’t available in lesson 1 and you can’t continue the lesson.

Updating: Now you want over £40 per year. Sorry, it’s a no.

### 1/5 — potential

*2021-05-22, version 1.0.45*

crashing and features that are not responding to touch

### 2/5 — Stopped working

*2021-03-20, version 1.0.45*

When I first started using this app I was very impressed. I stopped using it for awhile, I recently decided to start using it again but this time I was going to pay for the premium version. I’m happy I started using it before the free trial was up, the app no longer works. Every time I go to listen to my recording it sends me to my Home Screen. I was able to cancel before I was charged. I’m now on the hunt for a similar app.

### 1/5 — Excellent (If not broke)

*2021-03-12, version 1.0.45*

This app is excellent, amazing, and it has so many wonderful features! If only I could access most of them in the first place, as everything except voice recordings are locked behind subscription paywalls.🙃

### 2/5 — Solid app but needs to fix bugs

*2021-01-27, version 1.0.45*

The content is very helpful but the app keeps crashing and I need to start the daily course from the beginning. Hopefully the bugs are fixed soon.

### 1/5 — Micro transactions

*2021-01-11*

Everything other than the voice recording log is hidden behind the subscription

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App crashes right away

*2026-05-06, version 1.1.6*

I just got the app and after 3 screens, it crashed. Tried again and same result. I won't be using this!

### 1/5 — Costs money

*2026-04-05, version 1.1.4*

Speech and learning to converse better should never be strictly for people who can afford a monthly subscription.

You care about profit, not people.

### 1/5 — didn’t work w/o money

*2025-07-14, version 1.0.46*

couldn’t do a single lesson to test the app without paying

### 1/5 — Can’t use without premium

*2024-06-13, version 1.0.46*

Better off getting an actual speech therapist

### 1/5 — Trash

*2023-05-30, version 1.0.46*

Trash, the thing is mostly repetitive videos. They offered me their 1 week trial, I forgot to cancel it before the trial end, instead of charging me for the 1 month for $9.99, they went and charge me a 1 year plan for $49.99.

### 1/5 — It doesn’t let you cancel the subscription…

*2022-11-15, version 1.0.46*

..even though the app has the most recent update. Not that it should matter.

### 1/5 — $49/month is outrageous!

*2022-10-31, version 1.0.45*

I don’t know what to say programming issue or a glitch but I keep getting charged the yearly amount every month.

I’ve already contacted my bank to report fraud.

Could be a great app once they fix the theft.

### 1/5 — free trial doesn’t work

*2022-08-20, version 1.0.45*

if you select one month and continue to process your payment, it charges you for a whole year and doesn’t include the free trial.

### 1/5 — Can’t even try it out

*2022-08-15, version 1.0.45*

There is nothing I can try out without the app asking me to sign up for pro. They are basically catfishing people to download the app for “free” so you can pay for everything once downloaded. Seems like a scam

### 1/5 — Does not work -crashes

*2022-08-02, version 1.0.45*

Unfortunately this app is outdated and notfunctional

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great for improving your speech in any situation!

*2026-02-27, version 1.1.3*

I am using this app to be better at speaking with confidence and clarity for my job. I have noticed a difference in the recordings of my voice. This will benefit anyone who wants to improve their speech, tone, conviction and clarity. I highly recommend this to anyone.

### 5/5 — Improvement after 3 sessions in 3 weeks!

*2021-09-09, version 1.0.45*

I did the warm ups only a few times. My recordings show a major improvement! I went from squeaky Lauren Bacall to the real deal Bacall. Amazing. Highly recommend. Thank you, Astound!!

### 5/5 — Looking for this for years

*2021-01-15, version 1.0.45*

I am a high energy, fast talking, at times lazy mumbling, think out loud person but let’s get to next topic.
I have been speaking fast all my life and dealing with clarity/articulation issues. Frustrated by the advice “just talk slower” (most frequently by mom).
This wasn’t working for my brain and is impractical advice, I looked for books and exercises to practice to improve my speech. Where are the exercises King George VI used?? 😂 How costly is a speech pathologist?
Thankful this app was invented for a common and overlooked challenge many have!! People have commented on how I am talking more clearly and definitely getting less “what?”. And I realized SO much more goes into clear communication besides “talk slower” e.g. pitch, lazy tongue, opening mouth more, etc.

Some of these exercises I have come across in books but having an app to track and demonstrate is invaluable. Many books/podcasts focus on public speaking or other focus. This breaks down where our speech is garbled in day to day communication and why certain problems occur. And something I think everyone would benefit from trying once.
Only minor inconvenience — It is a new app so crashes every once in awhile but it is very user friendly and continually updated, so not a deal breaker — especially when nothing like this exists or that I have found to help.

### 5/5 — This app is basically......

*2020-09-06, version 1.0.43*

...... breathing exercises. Not for me. Conveniently, it crashes when I try to delete my account before deleting the app! Also crashes many times throughout use. Happy to pay a subscription if an app works well and is worthy of my money.

A note to the developer, please fix account deletion crash so that I may delete my account.

### 5/5 — Great and underrated app

*2020-06-27, version 1.0.39*

There are a few bugs but I find a lot of value in this app, highly recommend

### 5/5 — 1st impression

*2020-05-06, version 1.0.37*

I think think this is going to be a great tool for me. Help is exactly what will give me more flexibility with communication with all types of people.

### 5/5 — Great first step

*2020-04-12, version 1.0.35*

Astound makes it easy to get your reps in every day. It's easy to find 3-5 minutes for the exercises and builds confidence in my voice.

### 5/5 — Fast and easy

*2020-03-24, version 1.0.34*

It seems to work,even if I don’t u

### 5/5 — Great app.

*2020-03-02, version 1.0.34*

I’m only up to day two on the app, I like the warmup exercises on it so far. It’s made a voice sound better and able to pronounce words better.

### 5/5 — Great feedback

*2020-02-12, version 1.0.34*

I’m recording feature of this is the best out there. I have compared a few and this allows you to record and get feedback on tempo and amplitude. It’s as helpful as the exercises.
