AstroSeer is rooted in the wisdom of Vedic astrology (Jyotish) — an ancient Indian system that uses the sidereal zodiac, which reflects the actual positions of the planets against the background of the constellations. In contrast, Western astrology is based on the tropical zodiac, which is tied to the seasons and begins at the spring equinox (around March 21), regardless of the stars’ real-time positions.

As a result, in Vedic astrology, the Sun and other planets often fall into different zodiac signs than in the Western system. For example, someone considered a Leo in Western astrology may actually be a Cancer in Vedic astrology.
