### 4/5 — Still crashes after selecting AI and star reduction

*2026-04-10*

This is a useful tool for quickly editing images…when it doesn’t crash. The most recent update was supposed to fix the crashes, but it doesn’t. 75% of the time, when I open an image and try to reduce the number of stars through AI, it crashes. I can’t use a program that constantly crashes, especially the features I bought it for.
UPDATE 04-09-26: The problem seems to be more stable now. The developer asked me to upload a few images I had edited with this program and he tweaked it. I find myself using this program for doing quick edits. It works well for that.

**Developer response:** Hi. Version 2.64 is upload to Apple for review to fix this issue. Thank you very much for the update! Have fun and keep in contact.

### 3/5 — Pretty good but…

*2026-03-25*

Really cool tool but the AI tool still makes it crash after the bug fixes.

**Developer response:** Hi. Version 2.64 is upload to Apple for review to fix this issue. Thank you.

### 3/5 — Cannot open files, no response to emails

*2026-02-11*

I really want to make Astroedit my primary post-processing app for Seestar images, but as it stands it works only with pictures saved to Apple Photos, and that is a major problem, since they are only jpegs.

When I try to open files they are all grayed out.

Two emails to the contact address have received no reply, and that is very disappointing.

**Developer response:** Have you send to ustransit74@gmail.com? I have not received your email. Thanks. PS. I have uploaded version 2.60 for Apple review. This update fixes the grayed out fits file.

### 3/5 — Crashes

*2026-01-01*

It does work but on my device (17 pro so plenty of power) it always crashes on wavelet and sometimes AI. Could do with nicer UI bring it into 2026, current look reminds me of iPhone 3GS, also work the bugs out.

**Developer response:** The crash is usually due to out of memory. I have just upload a new update that uses less memory. Please try it and let me know how it goes at ustransit74@gmail.com. Thank you very much. A new UI is in the to do list.

### 3/5 — Meh, not that great

*2025-11-02*

Buggy app locks up frequently. Results aren’t much different from the iPhone photo editor. I assumed the app analyzed the Seestar S50 photo and was one step processing but it’s not.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for your comment. Not sure if I understand you. Seestar app has a denoise function that automatically removes noise, gradient and adjust contrast. Is that what you are looking for? Talk to me at ustransit74@gmail.com.

### 3/5 — First quick try on a couple of images

*2025-08-12*

First quick try on a couple of images, it just keeps crashing after a few minutes. Looks like it could be good if it didn’t crash.

**Developer response:** When does it crash? And what is the device? Email me at ustransit74@gmail.com for support. Do attach one of your image. Thank you.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2025-07-04*

This app is absolutely amazing. It transformed my first Seestar images into ready to share photos in minutes. I wish I could show some examples here :-) There are so many options, including seamlessly removing and adding back the stars. I have been watching videos on astrophotography editing on YouTube and there are many programs that can be used on a PC (some free). However, editing for free involves using several programs, and the cost of paid editing software is significant ($ and learning). Either way, the complicated workflow is a drawback. This app was super easy to use. Some functions may be complex so you have to know a bit about what each is doing or just try it and see. It’s easy to undo changes and even flash back to the original photo. There is a brief tutorial. For just a few dollars, this app is well worth the cost.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much!

### 5/5 — Easy to use and surprisingly good results!

*2025-06-30*

I was a little sceptical tbh when I first saw this app but having used it a few times now I’m pleasantly surprised by the quality of the output, it’s not going to replace your normal, fairly long winded Astro workflow but as a quick and dirty solution it is pretty damn good!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much!

### 5/5 — This + Seestar S50 = Fun

*2025-06-23*

I can’t remember the last review I left, but this app was so great I had to come leave one. Five stars. Incredibly affordable, easy to use, and great features. I got a digital telescope, but didn’t want to invest the time or money it takes to process the images on my computer Like some professionals. This was an affordable and easy way to make some adjustments after capturing the stars. Thanks so much to the developer.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much!

### 4/5 — For fairly modern iPhones

*2025-06-14*

Works on my iPhone 12 pro. Crashes on my iPhone 8. Seems picky. But nice!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much! As it needs as least 4G memory to run the AI.

### 5/5 — Easy and fun

*2025-06-09*

I use it to post process my DWARFLAB images without having to go through complex processing. Loving it so far!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much!

### 4/5 — Keeps improving

*2025-03-08*

Each update has improved the app. Initially gradient tool didn’t work and now it is effective. Being able to work on stars and starless image separately on the iPad is wonderful. Unfortunately the oval tool doesn’t seem to do anything. The users guide states it was trained on Seestar images. I have a Dwarf2 but I wouldn’t think that would make a difference.
Would hope oval tool gets fixed. Would be nice to see a contrast tool and HDR.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the comment. Glad you see the AI gradient improvement. I am working on the regular training for AI Satellite trails. And will be working for AI Oval soon. Could you help by sending your Dwarf oval image to ustransit74@gmail.com so that I can use it for the next training update.

### 5/5 — Supportive developer!

*2025-03-05*

Astroedit does a great job at processing the Seestar images right off the jpeg without needing to fire up Startools, Siril, or Pixinsight. Easy and intuitive. The developer really listens to comments: as most of my Seestar work is on an older ipad mini with only 2 Gb of ram, it was crashing often and sometimes not even recognizing the jpeg. They made some tweaks and now I can utilize the app more effectively. It does work well with my newer iPhone so I can only assume it works well with any newer device. Well done! Thank you.

### 5/5 — Outstanding

*2025-03-02*

This is exactly the app I needed for a phone-only processing stack. The number of astro specific edit features available on a phone is frankly unbelievable. I am extremely impressed. The updates for the app keep adding great new features.

Maybe one day there could be a pro version that could handle FITS files, but I appreciate that would be a significant amount of work!

**Developer response:** Yes a Fits feature is in the pipeline. Thank you very much for your review.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Crashes and doesn’t accept FITS

*2026-01-06*

AI satellites and oval crashes all the time and the app doesn’t seem to accept FITS files and that’s the only reason I purchased it

**Developer response:** The crash is usually due to out of memory. I have just upload a new update that uses less memory. Please try it and let me know how it goes at ustransit74@gmail.com. Thank you very much.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2025-08-28*

Unfortunately the app crashes constantly before I can do anything.

**Developer response:** Could you email me at ustransit74@gmail.com for support? I should be able to help you. Do provide the device model and detail on when the app crashes e.g. crash when opening the app? Thank you very much.

### 1/5 — Keeps turning off

*2025-04-11*

The app stays on for approx 10seconds before returning to Home Screen. Resolve, or reimburse my money!

**Developer response:** Hi. Thank you for writing to us. Please be informed that the issue has been resolved with the latest version. Please do not hesitate to contact me at ustransit74@gmail.com if you need further assistance.

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2024-09-14*

New behavior…this app crashes immediately with my IPad Pro 2017.

**Developer response:** Hi. iPad Pro 2027 has 4G RAM and should work with iPhone size photo. Could you send me your astro image at ustransit74@gmail.com? I will look into the reason it crashes and provide an app update.

### 1/5 — This app keeps on crashing

*2024-04-09*

Hello,
I am trying to edit a photo and this app keeps on crashing and I am unhappy with it. Please, fix this immediately so that I can edit my photo! Thank you

**Developer response:** Hello. I have fix some issues. Can you try again and contact me at ustransit74@gmail.com for the outcome. Thanks.

### 2/5 — Still crashes after selecting AI and star reduction

*2026-03-13*

This is a useful tool for quickly editing images…when it doesn’t crash. The most recent update was supposed to fix the crashes, but it doesn’t. 75% of the time, when I open an image and try to reduce the number of stars through AI, it crashes. ### 2/5 — Files are grayed out, no reply to requests for help

*2026-02-12*

Yong Chang Loh, please reply to my requests for help opening .fit files. All files are grayed out and I can only open the jpegs saved in Apple Photos. This seriously decreases the usefulness of the app.

**Developer response:** Hi. I can help if you send me your fits file to ustransit74@gmail.com. I will look into your files and provide you an update. Thank you. PS. I have uploaded version 2.60 for Apple review. This update fixes the grayed out fits file.

### 2/5 — Problems and crashing

*2025-04-14*

Very disappointed. App crashes every time I change the mode, making unusable. Great concept, but let down by poor execution.

**Developer response:** Hi. Thank you for writing to us. Please be informed that the issue has been resolved with the latest version. Please do not hesitate to contact me at ustransit74@gmail.com if you need further assistance.

### 2/5 — First Time use of AstroEdit

*2024-08-17*

Astro Edit is perhaps the simplest tool I have found for doing basic tweaks to astrophotographs. However, there appear to be some significant bugs in this app.

For the record, I attempted to edit an image that has 16 M pixels from a ZWO ASI071MC-Pro camera. AstroEdit is installed on an iPad Pro (11 inch - 4th generation). This image had been partially processed using other tools (GraXpert and SiriL) but needed some additional processing to get the image looking better. It is here where the problems started. I opened the 16-bit/channel TIFF image into Astro Edit which promptly crashed the app, possibly because the file was too large for the app. So, I took the 16-bit/channel image and converted it to an 8-bit/channel TIFF image. That smaller dynamic range image did not crash the app, but there was not sufficient dynamic range to do any significant processing without creating image artifacts. It’s very important to be able to process 16-bit/channel images in order to have a dynamic range large enough to get good results.

This app has real promise for first time astrophotographers. It would be a game changer for people who are using a smart automated telescope for astrophotography like the ZWO Seestar S50.

**Developer response:** The app is in fact designed for Seestar image which is less than 2000 pixel x 2000 pixel. Image that is 16M pixel will run out of memory for the device because AstroEdit creates a dozen copies of the same images for the wavelet layers and the three AI processes. A new version of the app is going to be release in a day where large images are automatic reduced to prevent any crashes. An image size of less than 2000 x 2000 tiff 16 file will still continue to work for now. I will explore solutions to work with huge image resolution. Contact me at ustransit74@gmail.com

### 2/5 — App crashes reproducibly

*2024-08-10*

I have tested the app with Vaonis Vespera Pro JPGs. Unfortunately, the app crashes reproducibly again and again with these images when you adjust the image using the sliders. I hope there are still bug fixes.

**Developer response:** Hi. Thank you for your feedback. Could you email me the crash image to ustransit74@gmail.com so that I can fix the bugs. Do include your iPhone model and steps that lead to the crash. I will provide an app update. Update on Sep 20: A new version is upload to Apple for review. Please contact me if it does not solve the crash issue.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much!

### 5/5 — Great for quick Seestar FITS edits

*2026-04-29*

This is a great app - nice one developer! I can quickly export raw files from my Seestar, save to my phone and then import the fit file into this app. It’s lets you do some quick edits to bring out details, colour etc, even gradient reduction. You can then export as a tif so you can further edit in Lightroom. There are loads of features. Denoise wasn’t quite strong enough but overall this is a great app for a quick mobile workflow. There is nothing else available like it - I’d highly recommend for any Seestar or Dwarf user if wanting to edit on the go

**Developer response:** Thank you very much. I really appreciate your comment. Glad you like it. More update about AI Hubble is coming soon. Have fun!

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2026-03-13*

Works very well for what it cost and the platform it’s on. I’m happy with it.

### 5/5 — Very cool

*2026-02-09*

**Developer response:** Thank you!

### 5/5 — App Eccezionale

*2026-01-15, version 2.54*

Elaborare file fits in mobilità non è mai stato così semplice e performante!

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2025-10-31*

This is an amazing piece of software. I am extremely impressed and it really lives up to “Simple and Quick”. Sad I can’t give more stars. Any chance we can read fits files for stacking? Thanks so much for this APP!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much. I do have the idea to stack fits file for the comet. I am waiting for the feedback of the current jpeg comet stacking. If you like to support fits file stacking development, you can subscribe at the help section in the app. Talk to me at ustransit74@gmail.com

### 5/5 — Ora sembra funzionare tutto molto bene

*2025-09-23, version 2.46*

Ora sembra funzionare tutto molto bene

### 5/5 — Top ! Version française ?

*2025-09-11*

Cette application offre un rendu immédiat, superbe et riche en couleurs. Il manque juste une version française. Pourriez-vous y travailler s’il vous plaît ?

**Developer response:** Thank you very much. We will look into its implementation!

### 5/5 — So cool!!!

*2025-08-30*

If your are a beginner or even an advanced astrophotographer, this app is really cool and makes things really easy.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much. Glad it helps you!

### 5/5 — Wow!

*2025-08-01*

Impressive indeed. I must say I was hesitant and I’m still learning , but AstroEdit is clearly something the developer is putting a lot of work into. Being able to get colors and depth straight from the Seestar is incredibly convenient. Also pleased to see the developer is still pushing updates. For the price, you simply need to get it. I have a great image of M45 I’m quite proud of. AstroEdit was able to get the blue isolated to the right spots, without making the rest of the objects oversaturated. Maybe I’m not using the right terms, but all I know is the image of M45 after AstroEdit looks just like the example image in the Seestar app. Fantastic work to the person behind this app! Developer: I just finished a stacked image of V398 Cephei NGC7822 on my Seestar S50 that I would love to submit if it would help with your training tools/app development. Please let me know. Great app!!!

**Developer response:** Sorry for the late reply as I am working on a new feature. Yes please. Send your image to ustransit74@gmail.com and thank you very much!
