### 3/5 — Better subscribe the magazine

*2020-01-09, version 2.0.0*

It’s nice having all the astronomy now magazines just there on the iPad or phone but you don’t get the opportunity to do the competitions to with things which would be nice .
The other thing is somewhat a question I have got , when you stop subscribing , do you still access to all the previous issues you would really of got ? Apart from those gripes, I like astronomy now

### 3/5 — Barriers and Complications...

*2016-12-12*

OK, so we downloaded this, expecting it to provide a free sample issue to test out the app.

No dice. Even though there is a "Preview Issue" listed (the others have prices), you cannot read the issue without subscribing!

After you tap "READ", you are given a choice of "Subscribe" or "$5.99"-- which is NO choice at all.

Then, adding insult to injury, there is no back button there and no way of exiting-- tapping, double tapping, tapping behind the dialog box, etc. do NOT work.

You can slide from one story to the next, but they are faded out, left in the background, behind the ever present and insulting choices of "Subscribe" or "$5.99"!!

[Eventually, one discovers that a precise tap in an unmarked location in the upper left corner works -- yet it returns you to a set of categorized stories in the issue, not to where you started from! There, though, a home icon returns you to the start.]

Come on, AN-- Sky & Tel and Astronomy Magazine both have apps that let you read a preview without extra steps and test out how their magazine reading app works.

You need to do the same.

In the meantime, to be fair, I'll rate you right in the middle at 3 stars. Your magazine has a great reputation, but this app does not let us try it out or see how well your digital edition works.

Please fix things!

### 2/5 — late issues

*2015-12-05, version 1.3.1*

5th December now and still no December issue on my ipad. Even worse no November issue on my Phone. Please sort this out.

### 3/5 — It's a beautiful app but

*2015-11-02, version 1.3.1*

...there seems to be a big issue on getting the online editions out on time. It's now November 2nd and I haven't received this month's issue. This makes the magazine kind of pointless as the monthly guide is the main reason for buying it.

### 2/5 — Frustrating

*2012-12-29, version 1.0*

Maybe it's my iPad 1 but after using the Focus magazine, Astronomy Now is disappointing. Pinch to zoom is flaky with the page not refreshing or altering res. swipe to scroll sometimes doesn't. I just need to find now how to cancel the subscription after the free trial-where is this auto-renew thing?

### 2/5 — free?

*2012-12-20*

its not free, it only gives you one choice anyways. i was really interested. i give two stars

### 1/5 — Restore on new version doesn’t work

*2018-03-31*

Since you up graded your app all my purchased copies are now unavailable and the restore application on app doesn’t work

### 1/5 — Problems again!

*2017-08-31, version 2.0.0*

Here we go again. Up till July 2017 it was working fine - good in fact as the magazine worked with a full menu you could select from and read articles. September issue doesn't download properly and is just a huge stream of 132 pages you have to wade through!!! Hopeless. I've just renewed my subscription in June so not happy! Going to ask for a refund if this isn't cleared up quickly!

### 1/5 — Where is my online issue? App crap

*2017-08-24, version 2.0.0*

Second month in a row now where the paper issue is on the shelves two weeks ago and still no online issue available, maddening!

I phoned them up and they state only one person works on this. Won't be renewing my subscription. I will try Sky at Night instead.

Update 24 Aug 17

Once again the app shows new issue but it cannot be viewed.
Amateurs Astronomers? No, just amateurs.

### 1/5 — Do not update! They keep removing past purchases

*2016-12-31, version 1.3.1*

Yet again, the app has wiped out all my back issues [3 years worth!], and will not allow me to download them from the server.
This has happened twice before. The first time is excusable because they were learning to use the store, the second was not; the third is downright insulting to the customer base. My previous comments were polite- but I have now lost my rag completely with these guys.
I will be seeking a full refund for all past purchases, as I am entitled to by UK and EU law.
NB: at least they have responded rapidly to my report and state that they are trying to fix the problem (2012-12-30).

### 1/5 — Poor as subscribed but no issues show up on my iPhone

*2016-08-05, version 1.3.1*

Subscribed and bought a few issues but no new issues have shown up since I subscribed in May - will be seeking to cancel - don't touch as a pile of rubbish

### 1/5 — Unable to download the digital magazine

*2015-05-01, version 1.3.1*

10 months subscription ahead and is no possible to download the last number. what is going on?

### 1/5 — Not what it should be!

*2013-01-20, version 1.0*

As a long time subscriber to the original paper version, I thought I could just switch to this digital one. Seems not! Looks like they expect me to take out an additional subscription.
They are missing an opportunity to save on printing and postage costs. There loss! I'm going to uninstall until they get their act together.

### 2/5 — Love the magazine - not the app

*2017-04-21*

I have subscribed to Astronomy Now for several years. I did this online using an iPad. For the most part it was good. This year they decided to modify the app. I want the old one back! The old one was like the magazine and could be navigated like the magazine. The new one has a new interface which is not like the magazine. Also with the new app I can get to previously purchased issues. If I want to see those I have to keep the old app, so now I have two. Bring back the previous app. The old adage is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

### 2/5 — Does not work

*2016-02-27, version 1.3.1*

I signed up for a 12 month subscription. The March edition has been in the shops for a while but no sign of it to down load to ipad. Looks like this is a common problem.

### 5/5 — several years later, loving it even more 😍😂😄

*2021-02-11*

I’ve enjoyed this magazine both in print and with the app!!! For awhile I was paying for both, and thought about unsubscribing the app. But I’m glad I kept it because when the pandemic hit, the app version was the only one I could get!!! And reading it became my refuge during this difficult year (2020-2021). The editor, Keith Cooper, became my favorite science writer. The pics are absolutely incredible. The articles are fascinating and I can’t stop reading once I start 😍 The diversity of topics amazes me. This is by far my favorite of the six astronomy magazines I’m familiar with. To me, it has become indispensable, even though I’m strictly amateur, just a really curious person who loves to look up in the sky at night and imagine.....

### 5/5 — Good app

*2020-08-18, version 2.0.2*

Good digital content

### 5/5 — Great way to read the magazine

*2020-04-21, version 2.0.1*

The app works extremely well, especially since the update. Every issue is easily navigable, and having years of back issues instantly available included in the price is terrific.

### 5/5 — September 2017 rubbish does not go past page 58

*2017-09-09, version 2.0.0*

Phoned and spoke to the astronomy now team. Apparently problems with this month. Just like photocopy of magazine. However my download, tried three times. Download archive etc etcetc. Refuses to go past page 58 without crashing. What a waste of money and time and patience. Technical subject, intelligent users. Rubbish product. Why !!

### 5/5 — Astronomy now app

*2017-08-07, version 2.0.0*

Only works one way up on my iPad. Also pages missing in the latest issue (August). Visual layout not as good as original magazine.

### 5/5 — Beautifully written and illustrated

*2015-02-10*

A joy to read and wonderfully designed for the iPad. Simply put, a great monthly magazine on astronomical news and telescope reviews. I find the writers engaging when discussing the latest news as they present complicated subjects in a direct and easy to understand way. The reviews of telescopes and other astronomical tools and books are honest and detailed.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2014-05-07, version 1.2*

Very well put together. Interactive, well designed, not sure I'll ever need to buy the paper based magazine again. Most other astro mags on the store are very simple or even just plain copies of printed version, but AN has created a great experience - worth every penny.

### 4/5 — Good stuff, but what’s going on?

*2022-11-02, version 2.0.5*

The digital form of AN has improved much over the years since I first began using it in 2013. I had previously used the paper format. However, for some reason, I now cannot access the digital version, as it keeps asking for a subscription fee, of which I have paid for this year and also a ID number which is for the print version. October 2022. Help! What’s going on?

### 4/5 — Content counts

*2013-04-22, version 1.0.1*

I have been a subscriber to the print edition for many years, and it is the content of the magazine that keeps me coming back. This version is good enough to use, so I'm switching from print to electronic. The gain is I can keep back copies without having to find somewhere to keep old issues. The downside, not much really, although the electronic version could be better, for example scrollable text fields, slide shows for images, page numbers when looking at thumbnails. At least you can zoom in and drag around the pages, so in some cases it is easier to read than the print version (age and foreground/background colours that don't standout used to be a bit of a problem now and again.

The 'Favourites' is useful, though I only have one issue so far, so I don't know if it is per issue or not. A search option would be nice.

For the content alone, if you have an interest in the subject it is money well spent.

### 4/5 — AN

*2013-02-22, version 1.0.1*

I think the Astronomy Now App is good value
