The departures also can occur at bad times and force an accident. The app doesn’t understand my voice no matter how precisely I pronounce the words. Even with the iPad directly in front of me in a completely silent room, it still could not understand what I was saying. I know it’s not me because I’m using my iPad to transcribe this review. Is my favorite game of all time on the iPad!!! Period! There isn’t another game that even comes close to the fun and hours spent. I love airplanes and everything about flight and this game literally turns me into an air traffic controller where I use my voice to help land planes. There isn’t another game out there as realistic as this and I literally feel like an air traffic controller. It’s a puzzle game, a strategy game, and a role-playing game all at the same time. No other game that I have come across does all these things together and extremely well. Whoever the developer is for this game, you made a masterpiece like none other. Seriously, I have never reviewed a game in my life. This is my first one. I am so impressed by the developer of this game to make it fun, exciting, and realistic. I can’t believe the number of hours I spend on this game. Seriously, the developers are are an absolute genius in creating this environment for armchair air traffic controller‘s to feel like they’re in the game. It’s challenging, makes you think, but at the same time you end up getting absorbed into the puzzle of how to manage all these planes in the sky in a structured order to all get them to land safely without interfering with one another. The game developer has definitely managed to capture the anticipation and suspense and gives the controller an eye into what it’s like being an air traffic controller and the stress is these men and women have to deal with in dealing with peoples lives in real time. I’m ranting here and maybe I’m gonna just shut up. 999 for this game is a steal just download it and play it I’m sureYou’re going to love it. ### 4/5 — Worth the price, challenging and fun *2020-05-01, version 3.0.6* Follow along from airport to airport, mission to mission, because the challenges are intentional in that order. Super realistic. I have not attempted voice however. For future airports, I hope they try Atlanta. But I’d want it to include PDK, LZU (class D, towered), but also add small planes to the mix, and consideration of separation (no small planes flying immediately under large ones). Traffic at a place like LZU can be intense, Lear Jets, twins, while trainers doing touch and goes or local small airport training runs. Managing different approach speeds, levels of experience, lots of no contact situations (because newbie pilot isn’t following instructions). Also missing are hold locations. In critical situations, pilots are sent to hold at a certain altitude/location, where they loop until told. In lots of these emergency scenarios, you have to manage that yourself, making you the de facto PIC. Not realistic. With subsequent updates it barely recognises anything I say - with the exact same setup. Ich fliege selber als Pilot auf Vatsim, alles super prefessionell und ich dachte mir dann okay also schaue ich mir mal die App an. Aber nicht zu empfehlen. Ja man muss sagen sie ist akkurat und die Waypoints passen soweit, aber die Realität bzw. das was ich aus dem Simulatorfliegen als real ansehen, wird hier nicht vertreten. Echt schade. Auch die Spracherkennung ist für den Mülleimer… gibt besseres. Man versucht dem Flieger was mitzuteilen, aber immer kommt fragt dann ein anderer, ob ich es wiederholen kann. Also sehr enttäuscht!!! Außerdem werden in Europa meist sogenannte STAR‘s also standard instrumental departure routes vergeben - nicht vorhanden. Schade!!! Boo. ### 1/5 — Voice commands? *2015-09-19, version 2.4.3* Not sure why everyone is rating this so high for voice commands, Voice Commands work about 50% of the time. Voice is essentially useless in this game. My recommendation would be to get the $2.99 version of this app, because Voice Commands do not work well enough to rely on them. I use voice dictation on my computer, my iPad and iPhone, and none of them has any problem understanding me. I can dictate entire paragraphs with no errors (I dictated this review), but this app can't understand three words that I'm saying? Simplistic control. Cheesy. I’d recommend Atc4Real over this one. It has promise, but needs more realism and less fancy graphics. ### 2/5 — Too bad latest patch broke voice commands *2023-04-16, version 3.1.5* I don’t know what happened but the recent patch has somehow made the voice control terrible. It rarely recognises anything, when it does it gets the plane wrong and often the commands wrong. Nothin in hardware changed and the only thing different is the app update. My fault for updating anything on a n iPad as you can’t roll back without a massive pain in the rear. Roll back the latest patch please and return the game to a working state. Note : I appreciate the reply. I will check again as soon as I am able. If no one else is complaining it is likely on my end. It’s a cool game though so hopefully I/we can figure it out. Adding two stars just for the fast response and offer of assistance. Mic has no issues with any other app. It worked until the last patch. I appreciate your willingness to help but I’ll just pay ATC pro on pc which has many more features ,and works beautifully. I can’t even get this app to work with ANT Bluetooth device. You’d think voice commands would mitigate touch target problems, but the voice recognition is spotty. By the time you finally are able to issue the command, it’s all too late. This simulator is awesome. Sometimes it gets my heart beating out of my chest. It can get really, really intense and you’ve gotta be very quick and on your toes at all times. If this is how being an air traffic controller really is, then I have to send a thank you to all REAL air traffic controllers to let you all know how much I truly appreciate your work in getting us there and back again safely everyday. You guys are the unsung heroes of the aviation industry. Also, the developer for this app is awfully friendly and I can’t thank him enough for this simulator. This is easily one of the best (if not THE best) sims of any type on the AppStore. If you’re looking for a good simulator to test your reflexes and brain, look no further. This is just a great app. Thanks to the developer for this awesome piece of software!!!! ### 5/5 — Most realistic game I’ve seen for ATC *2025-01-03, version 3.2.0* Been playing this game for probably around 10 years, maybe longer. The game keeps me on my toes and keeps me sharp as a 20 year retired controller. I do not usually do the voice, as it lags behind in the more difficult settings, which is what I play. You cannot effectively control airplanes when wrong acft takes a clearance, or pilots don’t respond. Yes, it does occasionally occur in real life, but does not happen routinely. I’ve used various headphones and bluetooth earbuds, but voice control does not seem to work well in the highest most complex levels. But overall game is still great and mostly challenging. Would like to see some new sectors, and a change for a few minor issues I have recommended to the developer. ### 5/5 — Fun Game *2024-08-10, version 3.1.7* I found this game very fun to play. Normally I don't use the voice features that much so I can spare the wife my rambling when were either on vacation or at home. The interface was very well thought out on directing airspeed, altitude, course/fix instructions. One impressive thing is when moving the sliders, the set values appear to the side/above in a way that a finger isn't covering them up. That's how detail oriented this app was designed. Support is fantastic, even though later it was obvious what I wasn't doing to add additional maps, support responded right away on how exactly I was supposed to click the right things to get additional fields. Did I mention you can also scramble F-16s? That kills me everytime and got to laugh but hey it works real well though, definitely a cool feature added to the game. Well done and hope this app gets supported for a very long time. Thanks to the support/dev also for any help I needed in the meantime. AirPods and other bluetooth headsets have been difficult to get working with the speech recognition engine, but it should work well with the built-in mic. The game uses an offline speech recognition system, which works differently from voice transcription, it only recognizes a small set of words, but doesn't require the internet. I will do some testing and research into improving this.
