## What is Atemheld?

Atemheld helps you quit smoking, not through bans and willpower, but by understanding why smoking has kept its hold on you.

Many programs rely on toughing it out. Atemheld takes a different route. You calmly look at the beliefs that keep smoking alive for you and dissolve them one by one. Once your mind grasps that the cigarette gives you nothing you don't already have without it, quitting gets easier.

The KLAR path
You move through four phases: Clarity, where at first you simply observe without judging yourself. Letting go. Arriving. And Regenerating. Each phase builds on the one before, at your own pace.

- 22 beliefs about smoking that you work through in three steps: notice, understand, experience. Each ends with a small everyday experiment.
- The Mirror shows you, from your own entries, when and why you reach for a cigarette.
- An SOS area for acute moments, with a breathing exercise, distraction, reappraisal, and the free number of the German BZgA quitline.
- A daily check-in for cigarettes and mood.
- A progress that grows with you, with your smoke-free streak and the stages of your physical recovery.
- Short meditations for in between.

Built on evidence
The content draws on recognized sources such as the German S3 guideline on tobacco cessation (AWMF 076-006), Cochrane reviews, the WHO, and the German Cancer Research Center, along with established methods from behavioral therapy. You can open the source for every piece of content.
