Probably a scam **Developer response:** It is probably not a scam. ### 2/5 — Online Only *2025-05-21* Looks fun but won’t work unless connected online. I read that it will auto switch to local mode after entering your user/pass. No luck and frustrating. Maybe it’s just an iOS issue. ### 3/5 — Email required to play? *2025-04-25* I'm probably dumb, but it seems the game requires your email in order to even try it. I'll just uninstall it at that point. **Developer response:** We sync your save state across all your devices so you can play anywhere and there are many unlocks and PvP features. That requires creating an account. The free demo will keep you busy for 5-10 hours. ### 4/5 — My overall view *2025-04-20* After beating both of the campaign and doing shenanigans with others. This is quite a fun game and should have more people playing it. How it does powers and units is extremely unique. Letting the player pick their powers before the map is really interesting and makes it to where what you pick for one mission or game will be different from the other. I really recommend people giving this game a shot. Oh and one more thing, there is no pay to win mechanics. ### 4/5 — Needs work *2025-04-08* I’m enjoying the game thus far but would appreciate some improvements to text size - specifically damage estimates. Squinting at the current font size makes combat more cumbersome than it should be. A “continue” button from the main menu (apologies if I missed it) would be appreciated. Playing on a current gen iPad mini. ### 4/5 — Pretty solid *2025-03-26* Some nitpicks. I wish you could just zoom in and out as you wished with fingers. I wish it had vibrations when moving units or attacking. The scroll bar on the map to the right shouldn’t be shown. I think 2 of the buttons on the right side should be removed to declutter the space. (The zoom) is one. Needs sign up/login with Apple account. Runs great, looks great, gameplay is great. ### 5/5 — Fun, useful, and rapidly improving! *2026-01-01* Athena Crisis is a tactical strategy game akin to Advance Wars, with it’s own unique style and flair to differentiate itself—these changes aren’t just for legal differences, they are a framework of game mechanics that make for an enjoyable tactical experience. This game is a “buy once, play anywhere” and that’s where the mobile app really shines. If you buy this on Steam or directly through the Athena Crisis site you can link your log-in and play on computer or phone wherever. A mobile extension of a full game is an excellent tool to have. A handful of interfaces in menus can be a bit tricky in mobile compared to a computer, but the dev is always working on improvements. I’d definitely recommend the app, but it’s much better paired with access on a computer version too, so you don’t have to get frustrated with UI on some niche things. It’s just easier to navigate the menus that give you extra tactical info on the non-mobile versions currently. Hopefully improved soon! I definitely recommend the game itself though, it’s great! ### 5/5 — Best game *2025-10-03* Fun. Challenging. Play at your pace. ### 5/5 — lag in the decorations option in map creation *2025-05-26* i have been playing this ever since it was available, there needs to be a fix for the huge amounts of lag when adding decorations in the map maker. everything else is awesome, i would recommend this game 9/10 ### 5/5 — Erinnertan “advanced wars” *2025-05-20, version 1.0* Erinnert mich stark an Advanced Wars vom Nintendo und ich denke das war auch die Intention. Ich habe genau nach so einem Spiel gesucht. Preislich finde ich es angemessen vor allem da man es auf allen Geräten erhält. Definitiv zu empfehlen für alle Retro Strategie Fans!
