### 3/5 — Character limits

*2026-07-08, version 1.0.42*

Please remove the character limits on rifle and bullet profiles, it’s currently very short and cumbersome to come up with abbreviations.

Please also add an option to view the sound barrier on the dope chart.

### 2/5 — May 2026: certified disaster

*2026-05-19, version 1.0.42*

First the hardware seems solid. The app seemed to track all the shots accurately as i could determine and despite the quirks (annoying but live-able), exporting data out is where it fails. I can only see 4 of 6 sessions on iPhone (was showing all of them earlier). So when I export to excel I don’t have two sessions.
I synced to ipad, saw all six sessions, but once exported, all had same session name, cartridge, projectile grain weight and other variables!

To figure out, I was fortunate as i was also plotting the grouping separately on graph paper and wrote session start time on each load so i could reconcile. I looked at session time and shot count, then and figured it out. All the session names, the notes section were reverted. Even syncing with iPad it was not there. Added hours to post shooting reconciliation. I didn’t appreciate if i had not been taking paper notes, that i may had had to reshoot $250 in ammo if I couldn’t disentangle this mess

### 2/5 — Weak

*2026-05-11, version 1.0.42*

The Athlon ballistic light app is very weak. I could not get my phone to receive the data from the chronograph, even though it was paired on both devices.
Update as of 11May26: it paired with the phone and updated the firmware with no issues. Will try it out soon.

### 2/5 — Need Additional menus

*2026-04-30, version 1.0.40*

Need menus to add different bows, crossbows and air rifles or air gun.
Having a menu just for rifles limit what you can do with this app.
Also, the choice for reticle is ridiculous.
A lot of work is needed obviously and I hope you will spend time to improve it.

### 4/5 — Works as advertised

*2026-04-13, version 1.0.37*

This is a basic, no-frills app that works well with the Athlon Rangemaster. Once you create your weapon (pistol, rifle, pellet, bow), you can download your chronograph to the particular projectile and you have your ranging as far as you need it to be.

### 1/5 — Do better!

*2026-03-22, version 1.0.37*

I am blown away by how painful this is to use. After spending $400 on their chronograph that touts an app and Bluetooth connection I had much higher expectation. The chronograph works great, but this app has me considering returning it and going with the competition.

### 1/5 — Weak app

*2026-03-13, version 1.0.37*

Can’t sign in or create account! Need serious help!

### 2/5 — Great looking app, poor performance.

*2026-03-06, version 1.0.37*

Love my Athlon scope and was really excited to use this app. However every time I try and use the reticle APLR13 the app crashes. I’ve tried all the normal fixes and no luck. Emailed Athlon a while ago and no fix so far…

### 1/5 — App won’t let me create an account

*2026-02-19, version 1.0.37*

Pretty bad if I’m honest. I struggled to even get past the account setup screen! Found the password complexity rules are B.S! Only likes numbers and letters. Don’t use special characters.

### 2/5 — Needs improvement

*2026-02-09, version 1.0.37*

This app should have the ability to view shooting sessions of the chronograph with out having to be connected to the chronograph

### 1/5 — Can’t create an account to login

*2026-02-01, version 1.0.37*

Login button is gray and doesn’t light up to proceed with creating an account and
Logging in

### 2/5 — Crashes

*2026-01-27, version 1.0.37*

Every time I load my scope reticule the app crashes please fix just ordered the ares btr gen 3 hd 4.5x27x50mm mil

### 2/5 — Terrible UX

*2026-01-27, version 1.0.37*

This app has so much potential but it’s wasted on dead ends - I’m not sure who’s developing it, but they sure aren’t dogfooding it.

Two glaring examples:
Why does every shot string have to have a profile? Why can’t it pickup the rifle and projectile types for the headers in the list of sessions? The profile names are seemingly useless.

Next, why can’t I export in bulk? If I’m working up through load development in 5-shot groups, I don’t want to have to go in and export each shot string individually.

The funny thing is the rangecraft is so quick and easy to use - but coming home to this app really hurts.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2026-01-13, version 1.0.37*

Very picky about the type of password and is just a pain to use. App is garbage! Trying to use it with the Rangecraft and it sucks.

### 1/5 — Fail!! Does not connect to iPhone

*2025-12-26, version 1.0.37*

Christmas present regret.

App layout is not working: icons over top of others.

Is entirely unable to create a standalone login; had to connect via my Google account which I didn't want to do.

Bluetooth does not connect at all. There is zero evidence of it even attempting to connect to my iPhone.

Scanning the QR code image on the Rangecraft Pro connection screen opens the Google Play store on my iPhone.

Total head shaker as to why this is such a complete flop of an app.

In this day and age, there's just no excuse for marketing any reasonably expensive product in a competitive market niche with such an unbelievably dysfunctional app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Completely useless

*2026-08-10, version 1.0.42*

This is what happens when a company wants to be "app enabled" but doesn't care to spend money creating something worthwhile. The app doesn't stay connected, gets hung up on firmware updates, and refuses to sync any data. It's also incredibly poorly designed from a UI standpoint.

The keyboard frequently covers the fields you need to access. The data structure and options would have been outdated in 1985. I spent the time to enter my rifles and all my available ammo profiles, only to realize it binds ammo entries to an individual rifle with no way to duplicate or move an entry. The included database is so embarrassingly small and outdated, I don't know why they bother.

The hardware itself is solid, but I'm returning this for a Garmin C1 Xero entirely because this app is an insult to anyone paying money for this product. Do better, Athlon.

### 1/5 — Can’t connect

*2026-08-04, version 1.0.42*

Locks up when I try to register. Can’t get past the sign up page

### 1/5 — Frustrating to add information

*2026-07-31, version 1.0.42*

After a day at the range, I’m trying to add notes to my chronograph data. If you leave the text field and come back, it deletes everything you’ve added in so you need to re-enter it. This also happens when entering titles for the different chronograph data samples. Very frustrating to the point I’m going to write things down on paper and not use the app. Horribly designed user interface.

Third time back to update this review. I was just trying to export my data into a spreadsheet when the app on my phone crashed. When I reopened it all my chronograph data for the day except for one entry was gone. Thankfully, I hadn’t formatted the memory on the chronograph yet so no problem right? Think again. The app and the chronograph will not sync the data that was lost. $200 of ammo used for velocity data and I have nothing to show for it at the end of the day. Thanks for nothing Athlon. The more I use this app, the more I wish I got a Garmin.

### 1/5 — Complexed and buggy

*2026-07-27, version 1.0.42*

I thought getting a higher priced Chronograph was supposed to mean less hassle getting the data when it matters. All I have found is app crashes when accessing it
If you want to get the best out of your chronograph and your an airgun user, be prepared to research the hell out of each pellet to get ballistic Coefficient then figure out the length plus the fps of said pellet before you have shot it through your rifle. The G1 and G7 profiles are not suitable for airguns. For a sub £400 Chrono I expected more. Disappointing does not cover it

### 1/5 — Sucks

*2026-07-19, version 1.0.42*

Terrible ap, made by a 13 year old. Can’t even create an account

### 1/5 — Won’t open

*2026-07-17, version 1.0.42*

Still won’t open

### 1/5 — Not consistent

*2026-06-28, version 1.0.42*

So I have been to range a few times and this app does not pull all of your shots from the device itself. Athlon does not put any effort into fixing this issue it seems. They need to look at the Caldwell app and take some notes that thing is flawless. For that I would not recommend buying a range craft to anyone.

### 1/5 — Will not sync sessions

*2026-05-28, version 1.0.42*

The hardware works fine for the most part, but the app will not sync any sessions to my phone making it useless

### 1/5 — Athlon ballistic app

*2026-04-19, version 1.0.40*

App will not open on iPhone. I downloaded it on my android phone and it worked fine then I got a new iPhone and it will not login nothing happens when you click the login button.

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2026-04-10, version 1.0.37*

I have this version and it is not possible to enter either elevation or DA. It imports Barometric Pressure not station pressure.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Turn Bluetooth “ON” error UPDATE.

*2026-08-10, version 1.0.42*

Well, I was finally able to get my Rangecraft Velocity Pro connected. It seemed I tried everything, but I think it was a setting on my phone. I was making so many setting changes and doing hard reboots.
After I was successful connecting the rest was rather easy. Updated firmware, created more gun and ammo profiles, etc. I also watched a good YouTube video from Athlon showing additional features and how to make app changes.
I am very happy with the chrono and app at this time. I only wish they had a Vortex Crossfire scope BDC reticle listed, but it is a low cost scope. Sooo, 1star to 5stars.

### 5/5 — Awesome Chrono

*2026-07-14, version 1.0.42*

The Chrono is great, getting it connected takes a little effort but seems to be working well!

### 5/5 — Great update

*2026-06-04, version 1.0.42*

Great ballistics solution! While the app did have issues with pairing to devices, these seem to be resolved!

### 5/5 — Excellent app for use with all Athlon products!x

*2026-02-03, version 1.0.37*

Excellent app with top notch support! Had to call tech support on a question with the app and they answered on the second ring, solved my problem in less than three minutes of total phone time with complete professionalism!! Wow!!

### 5/5 — Rangecraft

*2026-01-30, version 1.0.37*

Highly recommended this chronograph and company. Not only do they make great affordable products their customer service is phenomenal!

### 5/5 — Usable and reliable.

*2025-10-13, version 1.0.30*

10/13/25. It does take a little bit of figuring out but once you figured it out it’s very useful for my Athlon thermal and regular scopes. I like the app for the most part. It has room to be more intuitive but as long as someone isn’t inept in technology you’ll be fine to figure it out.

### 5/5 — User Friendly

*2025-08-26, version 1.0.30*

Very User Friendly & Easy To Use

### 5/5 — Great Tool

*2025-08-26*

After a few updates the issues seemed to be fixed for the most part. This app is going to be a great tool for teaching new shooters. The reticle tool is a fantastic idea to help those people using SFP scopes with hold overs on game. Great APP!

### 5/5 — Latest update - MUCH Better!!

*2025-06-28, version 1.0.30*

I bashed the last two releases, as it DID’T work with the Rangecraft chronograph, and instead it locked it up. With version 1.0.30 there was a firmware release that updated the chronograph itself. The chronograph is actually VERY nice and easy to use, so I figured it would just be a matter of time before they’d get the software debugged. And they did. I use this app on my desktop computer so I can get my range data directly into my analysis software (I use MATLAB and Python to do detailed statistical analysis).

### 5/5 — Solid basic ballistics app

*2025-02-05*

Ballistics App has lots of features for a free app, with ballistics adjustments for ranges out to 2000y and Athlon-specific scope data. App integrates Hornady bullet profiles (hopefully will expand to include other manufacture libraries). Should be a great start to develop custom DOPE.
