That's it — enforced by automated tests in our build, not a policy page. No analytics, no crash reporters, no cloud. Nobody can leak what nobody has. Atlas runs Google's Gemma open model via LiteRT, entirely on your device. The model needs ~3 GB free space; iPhones with 6 GB+ memory get the best assistant experience. Bring a map. ## Version history (last 5 releases) ### 1.4.2 — 2026-08-11 * Atlas looks ahead. Before upcoming meetings with people Atlas knows, it surfaces relevant open reminders as a heads-up. It can also optionally draft a short 2–4 step plan for what's coming up. Plans are suggestions only and never acted on automatically. Heads-ups are fully on-device; suggested plans are off by default and require background enrichment. * Atlas learns from you. Thumbs down feedback can include corrections that Atlas distills into lasting lessons and applies to future answers. Atlas can also learn durable preferences, goals, habits, and constraints from confirmed “remember…” requests and, when background enrichment is enabled, from conversations. Everything is clearly marked, reviewable, editable, and deletable under Settings -> Models & Behavior. Stored entirely on-device. * More reliable background learning. Relationship and durable-fact extraction now uses structured, schema-constrained generation, making the knowledge graph and personal self-model less likely to fail due to malformed model output. * Updated on-device AI engine. Atlas now runs on LiteRT-LM v0.15.0. Existing downloaded models continue working without re-downloads. A light repetition penalty also reduces rare runaway repetition from smaller models. * Streaming answers. Chat replies now appear word-by-word as they're generated instead of all at once, while tool use and confirmations continue to work as before. * Actions actually happen. Requests such as “remind me…” and “add lunch with Sarah” now reliably execute the requested action after explicit confirmation, rather than merely claiming they were completed. Atlas can also show your reminders and track when Atlas-created reminders are completed. Actions and outcomes are reviewable under Settings → Diagnostics → Actions. * Better date awareness. Atlas now knows today's date and can reason about dates such as “three days from now,” with more reliable answers to questions like “what day is it?” * Prepare for tomorrow. The Briefing tab brings together tomorrow's calendar, related people and notes, and open reminders into a private on-device preparation view. * Answer feedback. Every answer now has thumbs up/down buttons, with thumbgs down allowing a quick correction. Feedback is stored only on-device and can be reviewed or deleted under Settings → Diagnostics → Answer Feedback. * Atlas just answers. Everyday questions — recipes, recommendations, how-tos, ideas, and similar requests — now receive direct answers instead of being treated as knowledge-base searches. Atlas can personalize these answers using what it knows about you. “I searched and found nothing” is reserved for questions about your own notes and documents. * A richer knowledge graph. Atlas now connects life information as well as work relationships, including recommendations, visits, and things you like, want, or own. Near-duplicate names and shortened forms can be conservatively merged into the same person or place, with every merge reversible. * Smarter answers about people and places. When you ask about someone or somewhere in your saved knowledge, Atlas automatically brings relevant knowledge-graph connections into the answer. * Saved web pages become searchable. .html files placed in a watched folder are converted into readable article text while excluding menus, scripts, and styling. Processing happens entirely on-device; Atlas never fetches the page over the network. * Showcase everywhere. The Demo Showcase and Super Demo are now available on both iPhone and iPad. * Clearer model downloads. Interrupted or timed-out transcription model downloads now show the actual connection error instead of “model not found,” with a Retry button that resumes the download rather than starting over. * Cleaner model loading. Removed the duplicate “Preparing model…” indicator so only a single loading status is shown. ### 1.3.6 — 2026-08-08 Sharper on-device search and a cleaner knowledge graph — still fully private. - More precise search. The assistant now prefers the note that actually answers your question over one that merely shares words, keeps a question about one person from surfacing someone else's records, and can follow a connection — from a person to the document that answers about them. - Cleaner contacts in your knowledge. A contact card now records real facts (role, employer, email, phone) instead of a meaningless self-reference, so looking up a person returns useful details and connects to the rest of your notes. ### 1.3.4 — 2026-08-07 - Transcribe long audio, entirely on your device. The Transcribe tab now works in the shipping app: download the speech model once, then turn recordings and audio into searchable text — processed locally on the Neural Engine. Your audio and transcripts never leave your device. - Pick your transcription model. Choose Tiny, Base, Small, or Large — the model picker now appears in the shipping app, with any option your device doesn't have the memory for shown as unavailable. - Smoother standing questions. Fixed a layout issue where the weekly/daily selector could overlap the Add button when creating a standing question. - Fixed a rare crash when asking for health-based suggestions. On some iPhones, asking Atlas to use your health data (for example, "recommend a workout based on my health data") could crash the app when the device was briefly low on memory. This is resolved, the crash was in how Atlas responds to memory pressure, not in your data, which never leaves your device. ### 1.3.1 — 2026-08-06 A richer Timeline, a clearer look, and steadier over time — private by design. - **A Timeline that's actually worth scrolling.** Calendar entries now appear as one card per day showing that day's real events, instead of repetitive weekly summaries that just repeated their own heading. Your notes and other documents now show up on the day they were added too, so the Timeline reflects more of your life — not only your calendar. Event previews read cleanly, without stray formatting characters. - **Colorful, at-a-glance icons in your library.** Documents now use the same distinct icons as the Timeline — a heart for health, a calendar for events, a pin for places you've been, a person for contacts — so you can tell entries apart at a glance instead of seeing one generic icon everywhere. - **Tap to read the whole thing.** In the Briefing, the notes under "Atlas noticed" were sometimes cut off. Tap any card to open the full note. - **A smoother window on Mac.** Content now fades gently beneath the window's title bar instead of overlapping the buttons at the top. - **Atlas learns from its own stumbles, privately.** If the app ever crashes or hangs, Atlas now notes what went wrong using Apple's built-in, on-device diagnostics so those rough edges can be fixed in a future update. As with everything else, this stays on your device — Atlas collects nothing and sends nothing itself. (Apple can share anonymized crash summaries with the developer only if you've turned on *Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Share With App Developers* — that's Apple's system-wide setting, not ours.) - **Clearer first-run permissions.** The Calendar & Contacts step now leads straight to the system prompt with a single **Continue** — no confusing extra buttons. As always, the choice is yours at the system prompt, and everything Atlas reads stays on your device. As always, everything runs fully on-device. ### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-04 A longer memory for your conversations. - **Atlas remembers more of your chat.** On-device memory is now used far more efficiently, so Atlas keeps track of much more of the back-and-forth in a conversation before older messages start to drop off — especially on iPhone. - **More room on capable devices.** iPhones and iPads with more memory now get a larger working context automatically, with a safe fallback so nothing breaks on smaller devices. - **Leaner under the hood.** We trimmed internal instructions and tightened how retrieved notes are packed, freeing up space for what you actually said. - **Faster and lighter.** Search does less redundant work, the on-device embedding math now uses Accelerate, and the document library no longer keeps every note's full text in memory — snappier search and a smaller footprint, especially on large libraries. - **Fixes.** Switching the app's appearance no longer clears your open conversation. A reply that comes back empty no longer leaves a chat bubble stuck "thinking." Faster, steadier first response after launch. As always, every bit of this runs fully on-device.
