On names and pictures, we keep those locked after signup because our moderation team is small and we want to keep things safe for everyone, and it's something we hope to open up later. On the freezing, we put a lot of work into that in 3.1.0, so please grab the latest version. A lot of what you describe, the trouble connecting and the freezing, usually points to a weak or unstable network rather than the app itself. We were in the middle of the Friday night session, and it froze up so bad that once we got back into the game, hundreds of people had been kicked out or left.
