One of the better indie tank games on iOS, for sure. The controls and physics are rather clunky. Vehicles have unrealistically-slow top speeds to compensate for the driving mechanics, but this isn’t the end of the world. Be warned though that uneven terrain causes misalignment with the main gunsight. The damage model is fairly unique in that it uses impact angle to determine the damage dealt to a given area. If the “hull front” health is reduced to 0, the tank is destroyed. Somewhat annoyingly, this does mean your tank and crew can be knocked out by non-penetrating hits, but this does help with balance. With this out of the way, I do have some strong criticisms. I have considered spending money on the game but these are annoying enough to have made me refuse out of principle. Remove (or nerf) gun barrel overheating. Currently, firing just a couple of rounds in quick succession causes your accuracy to become horrendous. This is not realistic and is not fun. Barrels do not wear from heat after three rounds and they don’t magically fix themselves by sitting un-fired for ten seconds. I don’t know why this was ever added but in my opinion it needs to be removed or toned down heavily. On a similar note, the engine overheat mechanic is unrealistic and annoying. The controls are already clunky and vehicle speeds already nerfed to compensate for the flat terrain. This mechanic is not clearly outlined in the UI and the controls are not fine enough to support its inclusion- even if it were realistic, which it is not. Several powerful vehicles that used to be unlockable through campaign progression are now locked behind Gold purchases. The game allows you to earn gold by exchanging large amounts of silver. The best way to earn silver is by watching ads, but you can only do this twice per day at a rate of 20 silver per ad. What is frustrating about this is the fact that you’re forced to watch ads anyway. Change the main menu? Ad. Finish a mission? Ad. Fail a mission? Ad. You get no reward for any of these. Having a new ad every time you try to navigate the main menu just makes you want to close the app and do something else. I would gladly watch ads for reward, but having it be limited to 2x daily while also forcing players to watch more ads for no reward is annoying. What’s worse, the exchange rate for gold is 10 silver == 1 gold. Vehicle costs can be up to around 600 gold. This means that, by watching 2 ads daily for 40 silver/day, it can take you *150 days* to unlock one single tank that used to be unlocked for free by progressing through the campaign. That’s ridiculous. Suggestions: 1. Remove (or heavily reduce) the gun barrel and engine overheat mechanics. 2. Allow users to watch more than 2 ads per day for silver reward. 3. Having an ad after a mission is one thing, but remove the ads from the main menu navigation. 4. Replace the ads with more monetization variety that is less P2W, such as new camo patterns for existing vehicles. I’ve enjoyed this game for nearly a decade and am happy to see it still being updated, but I feel like it’s wasting its potential by turning away new players via the aggressive advertisements and progression system. There would be more players online if they weren’t bombarded with ads every time they tried to start a mission or join a multiplayer lobby. So here’s some more ideas…they are not suggestions…I don’t actually expect the developers to do all of this but that’s just me speaking words…1. Nation exclusive tank tactics and behaviors…this seems like a not needed addition but at the same time it can give tank fighting more depth like the German tanks might employ blitzkrieg and Japanese tanks with charging…making you think more about strategy and giving battles more depth and uniqueness besides tanks with different stats…2. Multi-turret tanks…although they are not that widely used in ww2 but tanks such as the M3 Lee and Soviet T-28 are such…which either you can operate both guns or have one ( or multiple) controlled automatically by an AI…which would be weird but might help with gun management. 3. Armored cars…Armored cars…or just really light tank-like vehicles could be a way to add more difficulty specifically with playing as lightly armored tanks…they might come in squads but might be horrible to balance. 4. Finally campaign unlocked tanks for completing fields…these tanks might only consist of experimental ones as a reward for completing a field or a challenge at a specific difficulty…giving the user an actual reason to play the campaigns and get more tanks at the same time…and so farewell until we meet again…or I get tired of this…hope you have fun developing your game and..see yah. :) **Developer response:** Thank you for your valuable opinion.
