This app allows me to rediscover music which keeps me from playing the same songs over and over again. Adding shuffle by album would make this awesome! It's not been crashing, and it does what it says - helps rediscover music. Fabulous. However, for me, I would love to have my music scrobbled to last.fm while I listen. Personal complaints: 1. When loading the records, place then in a queue, not a stack. I don't want to be listening to an album, only to be cut off because I added an album I forgot. 2. However, there are a few little things that bug me about it. The most frustrating thing is that Attic automatically enables repeat mode, and offers no option to disable this misfeature. If I'm using a dedicated app to find music I haven't heard in a while, why would I want to listen to it in a loop? I like the magic wand feature, but it will often select albums that I've already hears that day, often at Attic's suggestion. If the app knows I've just listened to an album recently, why does it suggest it again. Finally, I dislike the fact that adding or ejecting an album causes the playlist to restart. I understand there might be technical/API issues at play here, but the app really could handle this scenario more gracefully. Despite all of the above I really appreciate Attic and would heartily recommend it to anyone with even a moderately deep music collection. ### 5/5 — AWESOMEST APP EVER!!! However, once you've loaded an album (or albums) there is very little reason to stay in the app as there is no information available other than a red tag showing the current song and artist, or limited info when you double tap an album such as number of songs. I find myself going into the iPod player to see extra info such as the track number of the current song (in both the album and the playlist) or time left in the track. Kind of defeats the object of having a different player to the iPod (which I find very frustrating to use...). Would be good to be able to see the current playlist that you've created, e.g. if you've loaded multiple albums and have them on shuffle, especially as you can't see that in the iPod. Also, loading an album causes it to play straight away, thereby cutting out of the current playing track, which stops the flow of the music you want to listen to. ### 4/5 — Great,but I highly expect some improvement *2010-04-27* The UI is just awesome. As others have observed, it also displays albums that have been deleted for months. It won't show the covers of any of the music on my iPhone and appears to be nothing but a glorified iPod controller. The concept is fantastic, and it definitely looks pretty. Seeing as I only have a small selection of music on my phone, it just pulls up all the albums I have. It would be better if it somehow accessed the full iTunes library on my Mac and transferred a few albums I've not listened to for ages. As it is, it's just an alternative interface for the iPod. So what's the point? ### 2/5 — Limited Usefulness - great design and promise *2010-03-07* I would like to give this app 2 stars, but it's nicely designed and does what it says - so I'll give it three for now. It's OK in present form. I love the concept, love the design (yes there are some things like more control over deleting some selections or controlling the algorithm to make the artist more random even if you really haven't listened to any of that Holiday music you once imported and don't really want to shuffle up) I already use smart playlists to shuffle in fresh and older unplayed content to my iPhone. Also iTunes genius works well for me - so after trying this app a handful of times, it's now deleted off my phone. Perhaps I'll give it a try again in a few months after a few updates. If you don't setup / sync playlists on your computer (especially smart playlists) or use genius (and aren't too picky) and just want to shuffle in some songs - this is a great app for you. Also, the animation is really cute even if dragging the "vinyl" is mostly obscured by your fingers. Basically - it's hard for me to use this app on the limited screen space on the iPhone. Also - the animations although cute don't provide me with much more than I already have with genius and smart playlists. But the concept is flawed, these's a reason the albums that show up are unlistened too, I don't really like the bands so I only listen to them on rare occasions. It does not serve well as a replacement for the regular music player; where it really helps is in rediscovering forgotten albums in a large music collection. When I am headed out the door and do not have a particular choice of music in mind I open this instead of the player, and get a list of albums not listened to lately. Have had some great rediscovery moments already that more than repay installing the app. Albums can be deleted from the list if you don't want them there, with new ones automatically added. No crash problems in my case (4th gen Touch). My only request would be a button to refresh the whole list with a fresh set, in case it happens to come up with a whole set that don't appeal right now. ### 5/5 — Useful!! *2010-12-15, version 1.3* It's a great app. It finds albums I was in love with months ago and allows me to listen to them while there not crowded in my iPod app. It's useful to use for that alone.. :) very happy!! ### 5/5 — Play faviote albums *2010-11-14, version 0* Update:......... Ok the update has made this app a lot better and more usable, But I still really would like a feature in the settings menu where you could turn of the random/never played albums, and you could have a option to be able to choose the 16 albums out of your whole music liberay, then this app would be very usefull since you can't make playlist on iPhone yet, we could use this instead to mix a few of are faviote albums into a playlist. also its really annoying when your listerning to a song and then you drag a new album in the slot and it skips the track your listerning to, it would be great if it could just keep playing the song without skiping. Hope that makes sense lol. Anyway it is a very nice app and has great potential, once I can play my faviote albums I will give this app 5 stars. Plz add this.
