No payment confirmation, no info about subscription, just silent charge every months (for more than a year). Discovered recently, asked for refund, as not used this subscription, and even was not aware of it. They laugh at my face. Probably legally they are right… Now I see I’m not alone. Be careful while buying something from them. They may cheat you! No way to know if download will continue if app not open. App left open for an hour, still not loaded. You have to access the web to buy books rather than through the app. I listen in the car and Audible app works well with car play, but this app requires me constantly to have to touch the phone rather than car play making it difficult and unsafe to use while driving. Also you cannot change playback speed. I almost always listen at 1.25, but not with this app. Guess I’m spoiled with Audible. ### 1/5 — Beware *2024-11-29, version 2.2.12* Unfortunately I learned too late after I searched on Reddit that this site has hidden monthly charges without warning. When users attempt to log in to audiobookstore to remove credit card details, they can’t log in. This happened to me also, my bank had to cancel my credit card to stop more unauthorised deductions from my account. Don’t buy anything from this store. ### 1/5 — The app barely functions *2024-04-05* I’ve been waiting now for about five days to download three audiobooks that I already purchased and paid for and for which they have my money. But I can’t listen to anything because the app gets stuck. I can’t even listen to partial segments of these books. it’s really pathetic that they released an entire business platform based on an app that is dysfunctional, plus they don’t stand by their products and they sell audiobooks that are nothing more than artificial intelligence / automated voices of material that someone stole off the Internet. **Developer response:** Our team is working quickly to fix the issue you’re experiencing. For now, ensure your phone’s screen remains on (does not go to sleep) until all audiobooks have finished downloading. Unfortunately, bugs do surface and we work hard to resolve them quickly. If you have just started a new chapter, say 5 seconds in: if you rewind, say, 10 seconds, during playback, you would hope that the audio skips back 10 seconds and puts you 5 seconds before the current chapter. But instead, it puts you back to the START of the previous chapter! Extremely annoying. This is a basic edge case that should have been tested for and solved in any half decent media playback software. **Developer response:** We're sorry about the rewind issue at chapter boundaries; that's understandably frustrating. However, we have programmed it in such a way that if you want to go back to a previous chapter, you can use the previous button twice so that it will switch you back to the previous chapter. Additionally, you can use the slider to switch to a different duration of your choice. ### 1/5 — Terrible service *2026-03-24* I just wanted to purchase one book I paid the price. I read the invoice and then the next month I get hit with a monthly fee. They said a subscription. It was false marketing because I never agreed to pay for a sub subscription. I just wanted to purchase that one book that I wanted and when I reached out, they said there’s no refund I do not recommend them. If you need further assistance, please contact us at customercare@audiobookstore.com from the email address you used to create your account. ### 1/5 — Australian buyers Beware *2026-03-19* My husband purchased a $150 USD ($235 AUD) gift voucher for my birthday which I was pretty excited about. Unfortunately because I am Australian, not one book I have been interested in so far is licensed for me to listen to in Australia. So disappointing. I have asked on a number of occasions to have the gift voucher recredited but was told that because I had ‘redeemed’ the voucher they wouldn’t return the money. What is the point of selling gift vouchers to countries where the volume of books is so limited? Have not spent any of the credit, such a waste of money. There should be a warning on the website for overseas customers, or at least a list of books that are available instead of finding one, getting to the cart and seeing the notice that it is not available. Just so frustrating! No issues with other audiobook Apps. Buyer beware. ### 1/5 — Scam *2026-03-09* It took away access to my book, it says it's in my library yet but doesn't show in the "My Audiobooks" tab. I have the receipt saying I bought it, along with the proof saying it's in my library. But it revoked access to my book with no reasoning. I realised after seeing my bank statement. ### 1/5 — Be aware of cheating! *2025-12-09, version 2.2.14* I purchased one audiobook believing it was a one-time payment, as is standard in most audiobook stores. Nowhere during the purchase was I clearly informed that this would activate a subscription or involve recurring charges. Later, money was deducted from my account without my clear consent. The app lacks transparency about subscriptions and billing, which is misleading and unacceptable. I have requested cancellation and a refund. I listen to several or more books a week. Other apps have a higher monthly fee and higher prices on books you buy. I noticed on other reviews ppl said it was hard to get to the site, but all they need to do us bookmark it and it pops up on the home page when I open the internet. Maybe make it easier because the older crowd wanting to use the app aren’t as comfortable with tech. I’m only early 40’s but I am always getting stumped w tech. About the app: books download immediately once bought on website. You have to have the audiobook store app on ur phone. That is where the books end up. Once finished u can delete them from your devise to save space for more books. Don’t worry they are still yours, just backed up on the website on ur acct. When u want to read them again you just re-download. Sometimes when I am not on WiFi or have a slow connection, download is slower. I try and think ahead and download before leaving the house. One glitch I think is fixed—sometimes after a chapter the next doesn’t play. There is no rhyme or rhythm to it. Some chapters start immediately, some don’t. Can be frustrating when listening while driving or cutting the lawn. Either way it’s my favorite audiobook app and I’ve spent thousands on books.
