There’s like 33 books now available and some are in various languages. I have. Dozens of books which may or may not still be available. Some thing is going on here but they’re not saying . ### 2/5 — Disappointing *2023-03-09, version 2.17.6* Buyer beware you must use your credits within six months of them being issued. I like to save up my credits so I can purchase an entire series at one time. However, it doesn’t work so well on iPhone. The screen is black. I would also like the search bar to give me a choice to play my book, not just show me I own it. This needs fixing pronto!!! ### 2/5 — Really buggy lately *2019-10-21* I really liked this app until a few weeks ago. Now it seems really glitchy. If i open another app while this one plays in the background, the screen is black when I open this app back up. I have to completely close out to pause the book. On the locked home screen I was able to pause or play. Now it just shows the play button even when the book is playing (instead of showing a pause button). Other times the chapters don’t seem synced and the playback will just stop playing. (Did Apple break iOS again!?) ### 4/5 — Problem fixed - EDITED REVIEW *2018-12-01, version 1.16.7* I got a response from the developer telling me how to remedy my situation. But before I had a chance to do as instructed, my problem was fixed. The developer acted quickly. I have upgraded my rating to a 4 from a 3. It would be a 5 if I hadn’t had so much trouble to begin with. Thank you developer for getting my account back on track! If my rating was based solely on customer service, I would rate you a 0. I like the audiobook service and the price. I have an issue with trying to reach a REAL LIVE PERSON. I need to update my payment info and I keep trying to use the link you send in my “turn off” emails. Usually the link doesn’t work. When it finally worked, I put in my new info and I’m still getting turn off email. I’ve searched for a phone # and can’t find one anywhere! I’m leaving this feedback because I don’t know how else to reach you. But subject says it all ### 4/5 — So far so good! *2018-08-24, version 1.16.5* I like that you can buy books within the app. Audible had this feature long ago but got rid of it so I am glad for that convenience in this app. ### 2/5 — Killing my battery *2018-05-30, version 1.16.4* Every couple of days the app will drain my battery from 100% to 50% within 30 mins and It keeps cutting off as well so I have to delete the app and reinstall it and that is usually fix it for a few days. If it wasn’t for that issue I’d give it 5 stars cause it’s great other than that. I’m a little worried that it might permanently mess up my battery because of that ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Paid Audiobooks Deleted Without Warning *2026-01-07, version 2.17.6* I purchased several audiobooks through eMusic/eStories years ago and recently discovered I can no longer access them. Support told me my paid purchases were deleted because I didn’t maintain a subscription and didn’t log in for six months, something I was never informed of at the time of purchase. These were not rentals or subscription credits. They were sold as permanent purchases and I received no warning that my library would be erased. Now the platform is inactive and I’m being told to wait and “maybe” get access again someday. Buyers should be aware that “purchased” content may not actually remain available. Very disappointing experience. And possibly illegal, pursuing those options now. ### 1/5 — Library went from great to nonexistent, waste of money *2024-07-10, version 2.17.6* I used to love eStories (3 years ago) but the audiobooks available seemed have been reduced from initially 120,000 to about 500. And many of these books aren’t even in English. The picks form the editors’s do not even exist anymore. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. There is literally no reason to use eStories over their competition. 0 selling points only drawbacks ### 1/5 — WHERE ARE ALL THE BOOKS? *2024-05-08, version 2.17.6* As a subscriber I can't use the credits I've paid for.🤬I thought this was a temporary state, but it has gone on for many months now, and the last app update was 3 years ago. There are NO books AT ALL in many of the genres. Even more sketchy, the app shows titles to "discover" in a carousel, but they don't show up in genre lists. And are only available to "add to wishlist", not library. The largest genre list (Fiction) has a grand total of 13—yes, THIRTEEN—books to choose from, only 10 in English. Mostly 1-3 options if a genre has any at all, many of those not available in English. I have appreciated this app previously for the audio player and convenient access to my library, but if I can't use my credits then why would I keep paying for a subscription? ### 1/5 — Can’t use my credits, no help from customer support *2024-02-06, version 2.17.6* Can’t purchase any items with my credits. No response to email or messages on messenger. Very frustrating! Only giving you 1 star because I can’t give you zero! And most of the books aren’t available anymore. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2024-01-10, version 2.17.6* App won’t let me use my credits to buy an audiobook ### 1/5 — Garbage app, don’t waste your time *2020-02-17, version 2.16.16* I hadn’t used this app in awhile but decided to try it again since I had books I hadn’t listened to. Two days and and unknown number of chapters into a book it reset my listening host to the beginning and now won’t let me fast forward to try to find where I was in the book. So frustrating and no easy way to get help! I tried a different book and was able to finish. The listening time and chapter count and worthless. They are never correct. While listening it told me I had reached over 200% of the book before I got to the end. For the same book it claimed there were 18 chapters but the book was over in less than 10 chapters. You cant see the chapters separately and you can’t listen to specific chapters. Which would make it easier to jump back to where I was listening when it resets the book to the start. Bookmarks don’t work at all. I tried adding book marks to several books and none of those saved. The saved button was completely unresponsive. This means I can’t address the problem of the resetting the book to the start by setting a bookmark to go back to. ### 1/5 — Drains battery in an hour *2019-12-28, version 2.16.15* I went out on a walk listening to an audiobook and my iPhone battery was 86% and after an hour it was 36%. What the hell? I barely got home before the phone went into low power mode. Looking at the app it looks like the majority of battery power went to background activity? Love your service, but won’t be using it until the app is fixed ### 1/5 — App glitch and ZERO customer service response *2019-11-15, version 2.16.15* I am so frustrated! I have two audiobooks in my library that will not download and I get the error message “playback failed” whenever I try to listen. I was super excited about starting these titles and emailed customer support right away to get some help! After no response for 2 days I tried again and still nothing!! Can’t use my credits! *2024-05-14, version 2.17.6* Don’t know what’s happened in the last few months, but this app that was fabulous is a disaster now. I’ve been a member since 2010 and have all kinds of books that I own and 5 unused credits. Every time I search for anything, it says no results found! There seems to be only a small number of books available and some are foreign language. What on earth is going on!! Wish I could get someone to tell me. I emailed support and got an answer, but it didn’t address the real issue. My favorite functions are being able to upload my own audiobooks into my library and downloading purchases, DRM free! It’s nice to be able to store my downloads how/where I want and manage my own library. When I reached out again, they used a different means and worked with me consistently and tirelessly until my problem was solved. Now that I am able to listen again I am very happy, once again, with this app. I highly recommend eStories! This app worked perfectly until it did not. Now I am still billed but can't download or listen to any of my books. The worst part is that I contacted eStories 10 days ago and they haven't bothered to do more than send an automatic response.
