Plus, I really appreciate the options to download or stream, depending on my needs/where I’m located. Dealing with customer service is also the best I’ve encountered since they fully listen to my needs and do not overcharge. I am completely satisfied with this app! ### 5/5 — Easy, Straightforward, Budget Friendly Audiobooks *2025-11-10, version 6.9.36* I've been using AudiobooksNow.com for quite a few years and have a bunch of books. I have close to 70 books as of now. What I like are the reasonable prices and that I can buy a batch of 50% off (12) audiobooks. I go for particular genres of books and often they are available for purchase. If I run out of the 50%, then I can either buy another batch at $35.99 for another 12 books at 50% off, or they will be 35-40% off. I also get to earn Rewards, too. My only real complaint which isn't really a complaint, but I just wish the selection of books were as numerous as Audible. I will often compare if I use an Audible credit or 50% off at AudiobooksNow is better or not. I used to also subscribe to Audiobooks.com, but I let that lapse a couple years ago as I didn't find it as beneficial as AudiobooksNow.com. It's between this site and Audible that I mainly get my audiobooks, which is my mode of going through books these days, as it allows me to multi-task. The app is fairly simple, very user-friendly. Absolutely not worth it. Made me lose my time downloading it. **Developer response:** We clearly label any AI narrated audiobooks and offer a 5 minute sample of all our titles you can listen to before making your purchase. We do not produce audiobooks, we just sell them. ### 1/5 — Worst audiobook app *2025-12-18, version 6.9.36* The biggest issue with this app is that when I leave the app, the book starts over. After a longer drive, I was in the middle of chapter 4, and it started over after the grocery store. It was a pain to find where it left off. I’ve used several apps for audiobooks and this is the worst one I’ve seen. ### 1/5 — Poor book player *2025-10-29, version 6.9.36* Everything about this app is less than good. It won't give correct time left unless listening at 1.0x. Why must the player pause when adding a bookmark, it starts again by itself but the pause irritates. I was very disappointed to see that somehow I had lost all my previously purchased books except the last book in the series. Recommend spending your money somewhere else. ### 1/5 — Hundreds of books, always an issue using this app. *2024-05-10, version 6.9.27* When it works it is fine. I frequently open a book, one that is “downloaded”, and hit play. I then receive “download”, “stream”, or “cancel”. Why? I hit “download”, the app spinner starts and never stops. There is no way to manually skip now. I have to play it wherever the app decides to start. This problem has been happening for Years. At least 3. I gave you time to fix it, you havent. ### 1/5 — Poor App *2023-10-23* It almost seems as if this app is still in beta, because it really does not perform the way you would expect. To be specific, I have had problems that I've never had with any other app that I use to play audiobooks. The worst problem here is that if I pause the recording and put my phone to sleep, I pick up the phone later only to find that it has continued to play. At this point, I have to figure out where I was before and go back and start there. Not only is this a nuisance, but it wastes battery power, and we know that phone batteries don't last as long as they used to. Another problem I have is that, when I'm listening to the book in the car, the volume does not go up nearly as much as it does when I use other platforms. Finally, the format is not at all user friendly. It barely recognizes a best-selling book that should be displayed on the screen in my car. I can't imagine in what world it would be more useful to know what track I am on, rather than what chapter, but tracks are what you get. Also the format does not let you know how much time you have left in the book. I'll give them this - it lets you play an audiobook. Please install the latest version of our app and email our support team at support@audiobooksnow.com if it is still not working as expected. ### 1/5 — Skips tracks *2021-12-29, version 6.9.7* Was gifted a audio book by my son to use while we are traveling. Today attempted to listen to it through CarPlay and the app would skip 5 to 6 tracks instead of going to the next track. My wife would constantly have to go back into the app on the phone to back it up to the correct track. This was following every single track! It was extremely annoying because each track is only 10 minutes long, so every 10 minutes we had to correct it by going back to the iPhone and finding the right track. ### 1/5 — Used to work *2020-07-27, version 6.0* I downloaded and used audiobooks now without a problem maybe two years ago. I since upgraded from nook to iPad and I wish this app actually worked. I get two sentences out if it before it stops and have to hit the arrow to make it start again. Some were okay, others were so so. After trying about for I stumbled upon Audiobooks Now while looking for Jobless Reincarnation. Many apps were charging full price or locking access behind subscriptions, Audiobooks Now offered such a great plan, that it was hard to pass it up. It’s been about a year now I haven’t stopped shopping through their index for my next novel series to purchase and listen to. This app is so smooth that I can’t believe this wasn’t my first pick. Now I use Audiobooks Now app for just about anywhere I go, be it work, on the road or doing chores around the house. I hardly ever have any issues with starting my next book. And I enjoy how once I make a purchase through the desktop page it immediately updates with ‘My Library’ with my purchase. If you haven’t tried their app or visited their site, then you should, because I plan too.
