### 5/5 — Thanks

*2026-07-04*

Thank you so much for making this I was about to roll my own and found I didn’t have to because you all had already done the good work! Glad to see a native solution for Audiobookshelf. Works fine for podcasts too!

### 5/5 — Wonderful app

*2026-06-18*

Best audiobookshelf app I found so far - great work!

### 5/5 — Very nice!

*2026-06-15*

Amazing. Provides for free, what others charge for. Snappy ui, well balanced between cozy and clean. Useful features like Auto Download

### 5/5 — Simply the best AudioBookShelf client

*2026-06-13*

No other client even come close, and the developer keep adding great features and fix bugs. Thank you!

### 5/5 — 终于支持简中了

*2026-06-11*

给一个大大的赞👍

### 5/5 — Richtig gut!

*2026-06-10*

Ich habe schon richtig viele Apps für Audiobookshelf ausprobiert, aber diese ist einfach Perfekt!!!

### 5/5 — It just works.

*2026-06-07*

I’ll be brutally honest. I’ve not used any other app out there. I run my own audiobook server and this was the first one I tried and works out of the ‘box’ with it and I’m happy not to fudge around trying to find how things need to run or work around issues.

It just works and the super simple for me.

### 5/5 — Amazing Quailty

*2026-06-02, version 1.9*

This app is amazing and I have really enjoyed using it

### 5/5 — It‘s just Perfect

*2026-05-31*

There is nothing to complain, there‘s everything you could wish for. I switched from Audible to libro.fm and am now organizing my audiobooks with Audiobookshelf. Including those I got from libriVox. I can seemlessly switch from phone to pc. Thanks!!!

### 5/5 — Just what i needed

*2026-05-30*

Works really well. A little bemol for the SSO login that needs to reauthenticate too frequently, but that takes 5seconds. Otheriwse, its perfect

### 5/5 — The best

*2026-05-29*

Unfortunately, this is the breast audiobook player in terms of ui and functionality. I say unfortunately because I would very much like to use this fully off line without a server. But I put up with audiobook shelf because this app really is that good. Idk if the developer has considered allowing for local files without the need for a server, but I would pay for that. If I could get the 3-book wide grid, grouped by folder or series, with local files, and a one time purchase, that would be the perfect app

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2026-05-22*

App au top, merci !

### 5/5 — Insane

*2026-05-19*

How on earth you’ve built a better app than audible is beyond me! Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou for actually having some design skills and building this with love and not hiding real features behind a pay wall! This is by far the best audiobook app on the market. Only request is that I wish bookmark titles were optional, so when I’m driving and it’s busy I can just tap and know that section is saved.

### 5/5 — Perfect for Audiobookshelf

*2026-05-18*

Works great on iPhone, iPad, and CarPlay

If you normally use OIDC to login, but had it set up as Web or something and can’t get that to work, use the audiobookshelf api key from settings > Users > select your user. Worked flawlessly.

### 5/5 — Just works

*2026-05-10, version 1.9*

Live Steve said it just works. Bookmarks, epubs, all are super smooth. Only wish is a yearly subscribe option or lifetime instead a monthly

### 5/5 — So glad I discovered this app before paying for Prologue

*2026-05-02*

I’ve been using the free version of Prologue with my Plex audiobooks library but after setting up an Audiobookshelf server I thought I’d have to buy Prologue to use it. But then I discovered this app, which not only has all the same features as Prologue (and maybe more), but also seems to work better.

### 5/5 — Best app for self hosted

*2026-05-02, version 1.9*

Being apple to access audio and ebook is a game changer. Love the app

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — 版本更新以后完全无法使用

*2026-06-10*

软件打开就闪退

### 2/5 — Nice on iOS but CarPlay is completely broken

*2026-04-23*

I‘m a heavy CarPlay user. But unfortunately, the implementation is completely broken in AudioBooth. I don‘t see a single podcast.

### 2/5 — Love the UI. App struggles to play your books correctly.

*2026-01-19*

I downloaded this app bc the UI looks so much like the native Books app. UI-wise it’s perfect. It can handle multiple libraries seemlessly. However. I got tired of the app having issues playing my audio. The books would all of a sudden go silent. To make sure it wasn’t my files, I went to Safari to play them from the site, which always worked.

That happened too often. Then I would get the “Error Loading Audio Player” which was the final straw for me. I switched to another app. Great UI but app needs work.

### 2/5 — Meh

*2026-01-06, version 1.4*

Gave this a try on my iPad because I really liked the layout of it vs Plappa. Downloaded bunch of books and got it all set up and the app kept crashing whenever I tried to play a book or even search.

### 3/5 — Pretty decent, just don’t use the time function

*2026-06-05*

The time function is broken. At the end of a chapter l, if enabled, it will auto complete the book for you every time on any book. Very annoying, but works otherwise

### 3/5 — Works great so far

*2025-12-19*

I think AudioBooth is the best Audiobookshelf app so far.
Very stabile and clean.
Thanks a lot.

Edit:
Working fine via local Network,
but Playing Files via DNS is not possible.
I have no issues with plappa.app

### 3/5 — Play bug

*2025-12-04, version 1.2*

Would be 5*, but there is a very annoying bug where I often can’t hit play. The book just immediately pauses. I have to tap play like 20 times to get it to work

### 4/5 — Great app, but…

*2026-06-01*

Really good on almost every level - but please make it so that when you filter your podcasts by a certain order, the play next feature actually plays in the order that you filter by. Otherwise this is 5 stars

### 4/5 — Super, mais…

*2026-04-30*

Comme je disais, super appli, il manque simplement des notifications pour la partie podcast.

### 4/5 — Really good

*2026-04-19*

It's got almost all the features you'd want in an audiobook player, but with some small annoyances I was having a issue with sleep timer not going down and only just realized there is a setting in the app to reset the timer if you shake the phone, which is on by default for some reason and sensitive enough to get triggered by just lifting the phone up, thankfully you can disable it, second the audiobook covers don't get displayed when you aren't actively connected to the audiobook server even when the audiobook has been locally downloaded

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-08-16*

Great and awesome. So easy to use

### 5/5 — the best

*2026-08-09*

polished app

### 5/5 — Perfekt

*2026-08-06*

### 5/5 — Works perfectly

*2026-07-31*

Simple enough to use and just the right amount of complexity to figure out how to use features I would find useful. I would love it if I were able highlight parts of the book I was reading to come back to later. And I would absolute love and appreciate it if I were able to synch my audiobooks with the pages of the ebook as it plays. Hopefully in the future it will be possible

Also I would absolutely love if there were different intervals for rewinding or better scrub control for audiobooks, still an amazing app even as it is though.

### 5/5 — Fantastic app

*2026-07-27*

This app is amazing, what a great job by the dev, thank you!

### 5/5 — Beautiful, intuitive, and safe to hand to anyone

*2026-07-27*

I run an Audiobookshelf server used by several friends in their sixties and seventies, and I’m so glad that, with Audiobooth, there’s finally an app I can recommend to them that’s beautiful, intuitive, and reliable.

From its design to its functionality, Audiobooth is a triumph, the type of app that I’d be proud to have made myself (if I knew anything at all about doing so). I must especially commend the obvious care that’s gone into ensuring that the impressive range of customisations available in the app settings never comes at the expense of a clean and well-organised user experience on the home page, or in the library and collection panes.

Yesterday, for example, I set up Audiobooth on a septuagenarian friend’s mobile and quickly found the options necessary to make sure audiobooks download automatically when she starts listening to them; delete themselves from the phone when she finishes; and appear clearly on the home screen (or the downloads folder) in the interim. Easy. My friend was thrilled when I switched on the ‘Your stats’ feature, which allows her to see, at a glance, an overview of her listening activity and select a daily listening goal.

I want to make sure I mention a couple of the other design features that make Audiobooth a joy to use. For example, I love that when I select an audiobook to continue listening to it, the ‘continue listening’ button itself functions as a clean visual progress bar that shows how far I am through the book in question. What a great idea. Similarly, the addition of an activity overview to the ‘Your stats’ page in the style of a GitHub contributions graph is a lovely touch. Both features add clarity without getting in the way of the app’s core function, which is to make it easy for you to listen to audiobooks. That’s outstanding design in my view.

All in all, Audiobooth is an app so satisfying to use that, even though I’ve seldom written app reviews in the past, I wanted to make an effort for this one. If you’re after an Audiobookshelf-compatible app, and you’ve been disappointed by the other offerings on iOS (all of which I’ve tried), then look no further: Audiobooth is the app that will make you feel sorry for people stuck on Audible and glad that such an excellent alternative has finally arrived.

If I had one hope, it’s that Audiobooth doesn’t get too stuffed with features from here, because I think the app’s restraint is part of what makes it so attractive and user-friendly. My compliments to the developer: you’ve really done a terrific job.

### 5/5 — Kinda Perfect

*2026-07-22*

If you use Audiobookshelf, then this is the app for you. I’ve tried it on iPhone, MacOS (via iPad app), and Apple Watch. All are just great and I can pick up on one device where I left off on another. The UI is clean, functional, and intuitive. There are a lot of settings that allow you to personalize the app a bit, and again, all are great.

I signed up as a monthly subscriber and I encourage you to do the same to support this incredible app!

### 5/5 — Best app there is !,

*2026-07-21*

It’s really good and well made and free! Huge props to the devs!

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2026-07-15*

After buying another app to access my audiobookshelf, and trying this out, it’s better in every way! Thanks!

### 5/5 — My best audiobook App ever

*2026-07-08*

It’s free yet incredibly professional—I’m amazed. I have so much respect for the creator; I’m happy to pay for something like this by choice, which is exactly what I did. The app works beautifully as a widget with Docker on my private server—it’s fantastic. Thanks!
