## What is Audiofin?

Audiofin is a fast, focused audiobook player built specifically for audiobook lovers. Connect it to your own Jellyfin media server, and your audiobook library — organized by author, book, and series — is ready to browse and listen.

LISTEN ANYWHERE
• Background playback with full lock-screen and Control Center controls
• CarPlay support: continue listening, browse your library, or access downloads from your car
• Download chapters or entire books for offline listening

BROWSE YOUR LIBRARY
• Browse by author, book or series with cover art
• Search your entire audiobook collection
• Continue listening shelf keeps your current books one tap away

FINE-TUNED PLAYBACK
• Resume exactly where you left off, synced with all your Jellyfin clients
• Play/pause, configurable skip controls, chapter navigation, and auto-advance
• Adjustable playback speed from 0.5× to 3×, globally or per book
• Sleep timer with countdown, end-of-chapter, or daily schedule options
• Up-next queue with reordering and multi-select
• Supports chaptered single-file audiobooks such as .m4b with embedded chapters
• Plays mp3, m4a/m4b, aac, flac, wav, aiff, caf, ogg vorbis, opus and more natively — unsupported formats can be transcoded automatically by your server

SECURE BY DESIGN
• Connect using your own Jellyfin account and server address
• Your session token is stored securely in the iOS Keychain on your device
• Your password is never saved
• Audiofin only communicates with the server you configure — nothing is sent to the developer

POLISHED EXPERIENCE
• Four themes, including Dark mode, following your system appearance or your preference
• Progress rings show how much of each chapter you have completed
• Universal app for iPhone and iPad
• No ads, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, and no tracking — every feature is included

Audiofin requires your own Jellyfin server (jellyfin.org), a free, open-source, self-hosted media server. Audiofin is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Jellyfin project.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.1.0 — 2026-08-24

- Books that are split into a few very long files now show as individual chapters, if the files contain chapter markers.
- Sign-in problems caused by a server certificate now explain the cause (expired, untrusted authority, etc.).
- Alphabetical lists ignore a leading "The", and numbered titles sort in true numeric order.
- New About section in Settings with the app version and an entirely optional coffee link. Audiofin stays 100% free with no in-app purchases.
- Leaving a chapter at its very start now returns you to the start, not to your older position.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-07-29

- Fixes a rare case where playback could go silent after iOS restarted its audio system (for example after another app misbehaved). Audiofin now recovers automatically and resumes right where you left off.
- Makes the first sign-in more robust when iOS asks permission to reach your server on your local network.
- Opening Audiofin no longer pauses music or podcasts playing in another app — audio is only taken over when you actually start playback here.
