It's not perfect, you do get some distortion in sound occasionally. But for the price of free for both the app and server (working on windows 10) it worth saving $7.00 compared to similar apps! ### 3/5 — Useless for video/games *2011-02-21, version 1.2.4* We all know you can't run spidf and analog on vista/7. The program will not work if you have spidf running on HTPC. It is a few milliseconds delayed on the smallest buffer setting when watching video. So the program is useless unless you have a huge music library server to stream. If you have anything that is video related, you will need to run either hardline headphones or ir/bt/radio wireless headphones. ### 2/5 — Latency a deal breaker *2010-11-30* As others have pointed out, can't really use this for video as it's out of sync. However it did have good sound quality. I may use this to listen to music from library without having to put the music on my iphone but that's the only use for this app that I can think of. ### 4/5 — Does exactly what I wanted *2010-09-17* I ran into a problem a few nights ago. I wanted to watch a show on my MacMini that is my HTPC connected to my TV but my girlfriend was trying to rest and it was too loud. Now I could connect headphones into my receiver but it's a long distance from that too my couch. I have a iPhone, why not send then audio to that and have my own personal wireless headphones, that's where AudioIn comes in. It works great. I didn't have any lag issues. The audio synced up with the video. The only thing they could change is when I launch the server it should make the audio changes for me and when I quit return them back. Or allow me to switch it on the iPhone without launching the server app, it just runs in the background waiting for me to turn it on or off from the iPhone. But it's a great app that works fine for what I want it to do. ### 3/5 — WORKS! Explore the app before complaining, you guys!! *2010-07-31* Okay, this app is everything I wanted it to be. I bought the lite version, and here's how I fixed some of the "issues" these dolts are having. 1-Fizzling out: I only ran across this if my wifi signal was low. My bedroom is at the opposite end of the hous from my router, a floor higher. If I moved to a better position, it worked like a charm. 2-Delay: In the settings panel, there's a buffer adjustment slider bar. The longer the buffer, the more of a delay. If you have good enough wireless reception, I would recommend turning the buffer all the way down. PROBLEM SOLVED. 3-Compatibility: Give the designer a little time. I'm sure they will release something compatible with Windows 7 and iOS 4. 4-Not working at all: Don't be stupid. Go to the website listed, read ALL the directions, and...well...don't be stupid! The app works, I promise! Thanks for an incredible app!! ### 4/5 — Works OK *2010-07-12, version 0* It's not Amazing, but it does work. Occasionally it stutters and looses the connection but for the most part it seems to do the job. As I couldn't get the alternative (Airphones) to work at all then AudioIn won my 59p! Just wish that it did multitasking. For those of you getting the "you have no audio capture hardware" message this can be remedied by installing a virtual audio capture device - i.e. A bit of free software, not a new sound card. There's one called virtual audio cable that gets installed with the Airphones server package, but this is quite an old version. To find the latest version google "virtual audio cable" and pick a source for the download. Install it and you should no longer get the "no audio capture hardware message" ### 1/5 — I wish... *2010-04-30* I wish this worked. I've done everything that their website tells you to do. I even completely disabled all firewalls so there was absolutely nothing preventing the app from connecting. I still got an error every time. I use other products from the company and they work fine, so I feel comfortable saying that I don't think it's my setup. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to mute the sound on my WinXP laptop and still have the sound come through to the app which kind of defeats the object. If I change the Windows volume or mute controls, the streamed output to the app is also affected. My laptop sound driver does have an advanced speaker mute option but when I select that, the sound quality to the iPhone drops sigificantly (sounds coarse and muffled). The app itself works as advertised but the supporting Windows app doesn't really do what's needed, at least on XP. ### 4/5 — No delay *2009-10-22, version 0* Im impressed. The app also has remote mouse settings. The sounds quality is good. I don't understand why this app is not that popular yet. ### 5/5 — Does exactly what it claims *2012-04-21, version 1.2.4* Connects to daemon on the PC, plays back whatever the daemon captures. You will get far better results if your soundcard has a digital mix capture (most laptop ones don't); if the capture is analogue it will pick up the PC's ground noise, and noise from the DA/AD conversion. There exist virtual soundcard programs that capture the audio digitally; it would be nice if this package included something like that (though then it would need Administrator privileges to install*). * speaking of which, the PC application demands administrator privileges to install, whereas it only needs Power User, and could easily be made into a portable app. Lazy packaging. If you're using this for proofing audio to be played back on iOS, bear in mind that its output goes through iOS's equaliser, and (if you're capturing analogue on the PC) your soundcard's equaliser too; both need to be turned off if you want fidelity. ### 5/5 — Awesome *2012-04-13, version 1.2.4* This is awesome it works and it's always their for me ❤ ### 5/5 — Good One *2011-12-10* Get the audioIn Lite since this free App works only for ten minutes and you gotta reconnect again. ### 5/5 — It works *2010-05-12* I had to redownload my audio drivers from realtek and enable the mixed audio from my control panel, also, i had to disable the vista core mode from the program, (I use windows 7 x64) but once it works, it works great. Theres a little lag sometimes, but if you will use it for audio only, the audio quality is very good. If you will use it to watch with videos, you need a good wifi connection and need to put the streaming buffers to a minimum. For most of the videos you cant notice the lag, but for others theres a little milliseconds lag going on. I live in Brazil. A good bluetooth or wireless headset costs more than $50 here, so for most of my purpuses this program works and for the price of a snack. ### 5/5 — Audio delay *2010-04-17* Don't buy, it really has a lot of lag when watching a movie. ### 5/5 — Simple to use and good sound quality, but has some lag *2009-12-18* This app is very good, the lag is noticeable but nothing bigger than 0.5 seconds (you can get used to it), and the sound quality is awesome. I knew there was going to be a latency problem since sound is sent to a server and then sent back through my wireless router, but it was much less than expected. Technically it is not possible to sync the video with audio perfectly when streaming the network. However since we are talking about miliseconds here, it is not a big deal.
